Not only is the construction industry across Europe facing major challenges in achieving their energy efficiency targets, but they are also experiencing a digital revolution, with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and digital knowledge transfer [EU BIMTaskforce] . The BIMzeED project intends to improve the human-capital basis of the construction sector, which is identified as a strategic initiative by the European Commission [COM (2012) 433] , acting on HEIs and VET systems in Europe. The BIMzeED project will address these barriers to ensure that the construction industry can effectively catch up with energy efficient technical innovation and digitalization through training. BIMzeED believes it is important to devote greater attention to BIM to assist with achieving cost effective energy efficient construction in the industry, and will develop and pilot new educational and training content (Learning Units) to collaboratively combine BIM and nZEB understandings with existing construction training curricula. It is intended to update and add to existing training modules in the higher education institutes HEIs curricula (degree courses), to capitalize on the opportunities that environmental protection can offer the labour force [Cedefop] . To ensure that the construction industry is ready to advance smoothly into this area, BIMzeED will train and upskill educators at European HEIs and VETs by piloting the new learning resources and training materials and provide unique transferrable Learning Units to existing programmes with flexible standardised delivery. It will work with various professionals, SMEs, Industry, product and technology providers, R&D and policy makers pivotal in the construction supply chain to embrace digital transformation to support a profitable and low carbon future. BIMzeED targets existing construction students, site managers, craftworkers and other experienced operatives through updated trai

Manutelligence targets the product-service emerging trend; aiming at providing to EU manufacturing companies: - Efficiency in the design process, through ubiquitous cross-disciplinary collaborative management of P-S engineering knowledge across the entire life-cycle phases; - Complete integration of Product Lifecycle Management and Service Lifecycle Management, using methodologies and tools to support cross development; - Involvement of all the key partakers in the supply chain, including customers; - The ability to Search, retrieve and reuse data from heterogeneous data sources during design, manufacturing, testing and usage; - To manage, reuse and optimize designs, promoting modularity and Engineering Design Codified Knowledge, through KBE and design automation; - Close knowledge loop cycles between design, manufacturing, testing and use of products; - To extend and improve the use of Simulation and optimize it through comparison with test bench and real usage data; - Precise and quick measures and simulations of Cost and Sustainability issues, through Life Cycle Cost (LCC), Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and CO2 footprint . To achieve these needs, ManuTelligence aims to integrate best in class methodology and tools from research and industry, resulting in a secure, cross disciplinary collaborative Product/Service Design and Manufacturing Engineering Platform. This platform will enable designers and engineers to access through natural 3D experiences to data from both the traditional enterprise IT systems (CAD, CAX, PLM, MES, etc.) and IoT enabled systems for physical products information and knowledge management. Such a platform, to have success on the market, needs to be inclusive, facilitating the cooperation and collaboration of enterprises. For this reason, it has been decided from the draft architecture, that it will have interfaces based on Open Standard (e.g. STEP and the OpenGroup QLM.

PERMANET is a Sustainable REE Innovation and Supply Network covering the full Rare Earth Elements (REE) Permanent Magnet (PM) value chain. It is structured upon 5 layers: 1) Three Sustainable, Connected Tech ‘Hubs’ segmented along the full REE PM value chain and organizing thematic collaborative R&D and supply ecosystems 2) 13 fully Scalable Innovations to reach TRL7 and expand in scale and deployment range along the entire value chain 3) A structural layer of R&D infrastructure, equipment and services to fuel Pilot and Demonstration activities 4) Five Enabling “Engines” addressing the key conditions for sustainable and competitive REE supply 5) All embedded within a single PERMANET Network Infrastructure with its own, sustainable organizational model. The Network accelerates leading-edge innovations, from REE extraction from mining tailings and hydrometallurgical processes to oxide reduction and innovative production processes, all the way to the production of innovative PM and their testing by end users in industrial environment across 1/ E-Mobility 2/ Energy 3/ Industrial Equipment. PERMANET also secures key sources of REE such as leading mining projects from the EU and Partner Countries, as well as End of Life (EoL) sectors (WEEE, EV, etc.). The project relies on enabling activities ranging from strategic venturing to investment support to build sub-optimal EU REE PM Segments. The project unlocks viable reserves of REE including unconventional sources and will demonstrate novel, cost-effective, and environmentally sound REE extraction, processing, and separation routes, as well as demonstrate the first EU hub for PM boosting circular PM technologies to deploy at market scale. The project is ready to be fully integrated with other EU-backed PM Hubs and aims to grow into a fully-fledged Pan-EU pilot and demonstration infrastructure to remain sustainable post-funding.

The European Union faces several challenges caused by globalization. Both the delocalization of production plants (leading to more imported products) and the instability characterizing several industrial sectors force economies to re-think their business models and re-adapt them in a new context, where the sustainability of products and processes is more relevant. Within this overall framework, the need to think about innovative business models and industrial strategies, able to answer to these new requirements is mandatory. One chance is the exploitation of digital technologies. Another is the exploitation of secondary (and critical) resources that, currently, are wasted without any recovery. The project FENIX wants to consider both these issues and their potential at the same time, proposing something that could allow Europe to re-appropriate its pertaining position in the global market. The idea is to study innovative business models and industrial strategies (based on the circular economy paradigm) enabling the development of new product-services through the definition of novel supply chains, resulting from an unconventional mix of current ones. This could allow the easy re-use, reconfiguration and modularization of production systems, the exploitation of overcapacity and the renaissance of industrial poles all over the Europe. Furthermore, the circular economy driven business models and industrial strategies proposed by project FENIX will be demonstrated in existing pilot plants, adequately reconfigured and integrated based circular economy needs.
