This project responded to the necessity of updating adult education programmes focused on new trends in breeding new meat breeds of farm animals (especially cattle and sheep). At the Association we have identified increasingly changing consumer habits in the area of food quality, increasing quality requirements. Improvement of product quality can be achieved by changes in existing practices, but also thanks to a new breeding method, i.e. breeding of new breeds of meat livestock. The main objective of the project was to provide new knowledge and skills to educators of the Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic and thus to increase their professional competence. These acquired skills will be crucial for the future adaptation of ASZ ČR educational programmes in this area. On the mobility participated 6 people in the term from May 05 till May 12, 2019, lasting 6 days + 2 days for the journey. The participants were persons / members of a broad educational board of the Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic. The participants were selected on the basis of a tender announced by the Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic. Project management took place under the leadership of the implementation team. This implementation team was appointed by the management of the Association of Private Agriculture of the Czech Republic and had 3 members. The main task of the implementation team was to ensure the smooth implementation of the entire project, from the beginning of the project to the final evaluation. The whole project was divided into several main activities, each with a person responsible for the project. The implementation of this project was divided into three parts: preparation, implementation, evaluation. Throughout the implementation of the Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic took care to ensure that the project corresponded to the project application and that no deviations occurred. A desirable result was the acquisition of new professional knowledge of educators in the field of livestock breeding. Educators after mobility will cooperate with the Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic to adapt existing educational programmes and will be able to transfer the acquired experience to national conditions. Another important benefit of mobility was the improvement of the knowledge of the foreign language of educators. The Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic considers the continuing education of its educational body to be very important. It leads to greater competitiveness of the organization on the market, but also to a better perception of the organization by its members and also by the public. The Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic finds its long-term benefits in increasing the competitiveness of the organization as a whole. This will be achieved through the updating and innovativeness of educational programmes and the increased skills of educators."

It is vital to all humans no matter the nationality, race, gender, ethnicity, religion and so on. Even though people depend on agriculture to survive, they often forget that in order to provide sufficient crop and animal production, we need to make sure that our ways of farming are sustainable and enable us to farm in the long-term future. In the same spirit, people have to make sure to adapt to climate changes in order to keep the quality and number of production. The current research proves the climate changes which we currently experience, especially droughts. WWF states that in Europe, longer and more intense periods of droughts and periods without precipitation are more and more often every year causing prolonged shortages in the water supply. Such shortages then result in drying of crops, reduce soil quality, bring new pests, rodents and diseases and moreover, they create shortages of water for farm animals like cattle. The negative consequences are serious but one may ask: is that even possible to adapt to such drastic changes like lack of water? Yes, it is. However, the adaptation process needs preparations, one has to consider his or her possibilities, close environment, soil characteristics, legal options and context. To help farmers and landowners start, implement and sustainably maintain new water systems or other adaptation ways to droughts on one's farm, this project is proposed. The project AGRIWATER aims to educate farmers, landowners as well as other stakeholders in possible ways how to adapt on climate change and droughts innovatively and sustainably and how to establish, implement and take care of water systems on agricultural land as an effective way of reducing consequences of droughts. The idea of implementing new water systems supports the long-term sustainable solutions and continuous processes of adaptation on climate change. The main goal of the project is to help farmers maintain their agricultural lands by implementing innovative adaptation measures to droughts. Similarly, the project aims at landowners in order to raise awareness amongst them why it is necessary to take care of their lands and not just rent it recklessly. The project is, thus, divided into 5 main outputs which are The Current Situation Summary Report; The Collection of Best Practices Examples; The Innovative Educational Materials; The Awareness Raising Publication and finally, The Web-based Educational Platform. By delivering these outputs we aim to create a comprehensive educational system for a broad audience focusing on a topic which is, in an area of life-long education, still rather neglected. The project consortium consists of partners from the Czech Republic (leading partner the Association of Private Farming of the Czech Republic), Belgium (European Landowners), Cyprus (Agricultural Research Institute), Germany (Hof und Leben), Italy (University of Florence) and Spain (On Project Consulting), creating a broad mix of countries from Central, Southen and Eastern European countries. The main reason for implementing this project transnationally is because it could help achieve the goals of the EU 2050 long-term strategy and EU Adaptation Strategy prepared by the European Commission and following the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Paris Agreement. We aim to improve the quality of agricultural soil, its characteristics and possibilities to keep water (groundwater as well as aboveground water systems). Carrying out the project transnationally has a wide range of benefits for all participants and target groups as it contributes to the exchange of good practices among farmers, landowners and experts in the field in different countries. But above all, it could help real people with their farming. The deliverables of AGRIWATER project are expected to be actively used after the project ends thanks to the involvement of an umbrella organization for agricultural associations from the whole of Europe, active cooperation with other relevant associations, action groups, research institutes and educational institutions and direct reach to farmers in all partner countries.

More specifically the unemployment rate in the euro area passed from 6,4% in 2007 to 11,5% in November 2014, with even worse figures in some countries as Spain that passed from an unemployment rate of 8,3% to the 23,9%. The youth unemployment rate has reached at the end of 2014 the 23,7% in the euro area with countries like Spain almost reaching the 55% (Eurostat, 7 January 2015).In 2010, 97% of all the farms in the EU-27 were family farms (farms held by a single natural person who is also the manager) being only the 16% of total agricultural labour performed by non-family workers. At the same time Agriculture in Europe faces a demographic challenge. In 2007 in EU-27, 55, 5% of farmers were over 55 years old. Only 6, 3% were younger than 35 years old, being the ratio of farmers 55 y.o. of only 0.11. This data didn’t improve a lot in the last years considering that the above-mentioned ratio only improved from 0.11 in 2007 to 0.14 in 2010 (EC, Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural development, 12/2013)The European Commission (EC) and its member states constantly highlight family farming for its contribution to the multifunctional aspects of European agriculture in general. The EC is supporting young farmers under the rural development initiatives of the common agricultural policy’s (CAP) so-called second pillar.Family farms thus represent an important resource that may help:- Reducing the unemployment rate in rural areas;- Tackling the demographic challenge of European farming;- Maintaining and improving the social, economic and cultural sustainability of rural areas. To keep alive the economic and social potential of family farms a key factor is to provide young farmers with the tools and knowledge needed to face the succession process. The project focuses on the presentation of and the exchange about successful experiences of skilled and motivated young farmers in continuing the family business of their parents. This exchange about experiences from entrepreneur to entrepreneur will lead to:• development of further innovative concepts and patterns for succession.• facility in decision making during succession in family run farms in Europe.• improvement in the economic and personal situation in this phase and for the future.• improvement for the demographic situation in agriculture and rural areas.• improve demographic situation in agriculture and rural areas. These objectives will be reached by providing young farmers training materials based on case studies and complementary OER that will make them able to face in a sustainable way the succession process in their family farms. Namely the main contents of the training system are:- A summary report about the state of the art of succession processes in family farms in Europe and in the involved countries;- A set of 30 case studies gathering best practices related to succession processes in family farms in the involved countries;- Training modules providing the knowledge needed to face a succession process in a sustainable way;- A “serious game” simulating a succession process in different family farms context. The training materials (in English, German, Spanish, Italian, Slovenian, Czech and French) are fully available free of charges on the project webpage. The FARM_SUCCESS consortium is made of the following partners:TUM (DE): Technical University of Munich, participating with the Chair Economics of Horticulture and Landscaping.HuL (DE): An independent private consultancy focused on consulting of agricultural and rural family enterprises. OnP (ES): A project managing and project evaluation consulting enterprise.COAG (ES) and APF_CR (CZ): Farmers associations. AèV (IT): An Association of Vocational Training promoted by the Agricultural Italian Confederation (CIA) in order to provide VET to the associated farmers (more than 900.000) throughout Italian rural areas.BTC_Naklo (SI): A public educational institution working in these fields: Agriculture, Rural Development, Horticulture, Floristic, Dairying, Nature Preservation, Organic Farming, Stockbreeding and Renewable Energy. They are an important actor within the Slovenian VET system.CEJA (BE): A European umbrella organisation gathering farmers association and representing around 2 million young farmers in Europe.
