The results throughout these years have been excellent, making this Programme as an important base within Deusto’s internationalization goals.Following this goal, UD is involved in several strategic international actions, among which the Erasmus+ programme stands out, in all its actions:-Transparent management of both incoming and outgoing mobilities in all phases (selection procedure; before, during & after the mobility), following the principles included in the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education Institutions.-Signing of Bilateral Agreements.-Complete recognition of successfully completed actions within the Erasmus+ Programme.-E+ grants payments, observing all guidelines and deadlines established by grant agreements.-Design of language courses and second/third language regular courses, available for both incoming and outgoing students.-Design of joint programmes, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as co-directed PhD thesis works.-Giving visibility to all obtained results by sharing mobility experiences from both students and staff members. Regarding 2016-2017 academic year numbers, we are glad to continue increasing our mobility flows in all mobility programmes. Erasmus+ KA103 is still the most popular one, as our numbers state:-382 UD students participated in an E+ mobility (365 in a mobility for studies and 17 for traineeships), at all levels: undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD.-The average duration of our students’ mobilities continues at 5 months for studies, and 4’5 months for traineeships.-17 staff members took part in staff mobility, for both teaching and training purposes.-UD students travelled to 23 different countries within the E+ Programme, being UK, Netherlands, Italy, Sweden and France the most popular destinations.-We received 408 incoming Erasmus+ students.-We had no participant with special needs during 16-17 year, although the University of Deusto mobility actions are based on equality and integration of all community members.-57 UD students received the disadvantaged background E+ mobility grant. The results obtained during the implementation of 2016-1-ES01-KA103 024600 project continue with the E+ trends:-Increasing number of UD outgoing students.-Increasing number of incoming students.-Women participation in students mobility programs is still double to that of males.-20% increase in signed bilateral agreements.-Increasing cooperation and closer vinculation with research partners, in terms of designing of joint programmes.-Improvement of participants’’ language skills, thanks to OLS platform.Mobilities positive impact on UD participants continues increasing year by year, in terms of both academic, personal and professional development, and creating and maintaining strategic international networks. The University of Deusto is very happy with the project progress;as shown in the final reports (completed by the 100% of UD mobilities), participants have enjoyed a high-quality international experience.UD’s goal of academic excellence must imply a global and complete integration of its own community. Thus, UD Internationalization Plan aims to bring internationalization to all academic processes and to its own university community as well, in order to reach a strong, international and multidisciplinary formation that enables UD members to face a globalized world, more interdependent and multicultural than ever. Following its university project, in service to society, the University of Deusto will continue dedicating its resources to the development of consortium networks, boosting an active participation of UD, European and third countries teachers in the development of strong academic links of mutual interest.

Ever since the number of international students has increased considerably year by year, thanks to different international programs. Before the UD decided to participate in this project, our involvement in Erasmus Mundus joint master programmes and Erasmus+ KA103 activities, as well as in Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Windows (EMECW) and Erasmus Mundus Action 2 (EMA2) was remarkable. As part of its internationalization strategy, and as continuation of the EMA2 and EMECW programs in which the UD was very much involved, in 2015 the institution decided to participate in the KA107 project so as to continue with this collaboration and to deepen the creation of a common cooperation ground, which would bring benefits to the institutions (HEIs) involved and the final beneficiaries of the project. The following actions are being implemented to achieve the overall objectives of this planned internationalization strategy:• Mobility Management, focusing on the principles established in the ECHE: selection, before, during and after the mobility• Signature of Bilateral Agreements• Development of courses and subjects in foreign languages• Complete academic recognition of successfully completed activities• Setting up of joint graduate and postgraduate modules, and international PhD programmes, including co-supervised thesisThe following main results were observed:• Increasing international cooperation with the partner universities involved in the project• Women participation in mobility programmes is much bigger• Increasing interest in the project by non-partner universities located in the countries in this projectThe impact of the projects on the participants is of crucial importance in terms of academic, professional or personal development:- Academic: getting to know another education system and having access to courses and resources that might not be available at the home HEI- Professional: students increase their possibilities to find a job or a better quality job. As for staff mobilites, it provides the opportunity to enrich their resumes and to know other education systems and other kinds of students- Personal: it improves the students' social and personal abilities and it broadens their horizons increasing their level of independence and maturityAs for staff, it broadens their horizons and provides a cultural enrichment by being able to interact with colleagues and students from other countries. For home communities: participants will convey their immediate environment all that was acquired in the host HEIs and during the mobility and this will also be permeated in future jobs, in participation in local or international organizations, etc.For HEIs: the project impacts directly on their internationalization, since different cultures are available both within and outside the classrooms and it allows the whole community to access them and to see further than the European borders and to look to other parts of the world. It also impacts on maintaining the work networks with the partner HEIs or the creation of new ones. This all will result in long term benefits as the mobility experience will accompany the participants for the rest of their lives (especially students) and the experience will contribute to a more global education as human beings with added values. This is why UD will continue to devote its resources to develop a strategy of active participation in this kind of projects and foster the participation of European and non-European participants in these networks to create strong both academic and non-academic bonds.
