Egyesek Youth Association has been actively working on grassroots youth work since 2008 by carrying out 8 long term and 3 short term EVS projects. We dedicate our activity to continue and develop our EVS projects for the benefit of local communities and volunteers as well. The project's base will be in a rural area called Nógrád county, which is one of the poorest regions in Hungary. 10 volunteers from all over Europe (France, Greece, Turkey, Finland, Italy, Macedonia, UK, Germany, Spain and Czech Republic) would gather together for bringing social changes to the region. The concept of the project is to give responsible role to less-opportunity international youth in a disadvantaged area, and while acting as an example of an active citizen they gain self-confidence, leadership skills, experience in youth work, leaving eco-conscious life style, knowledge in NGO structures. Their ability is increasing to be independent and responsible for themselves and for local communities. Egyesek's youth workers all the time support and follow-up the volunteers’ learning path, ensure safe environment in the development process of EVSers. For 10 months volunteers organize English speaking action-based learning events for local roma and non roma children and youngsters with the emphasis on cultural diversity, the healthy and eco-friendly life-style. They actively participate in the life of local communities, conducting green actions, supporting local initiatives, spreading information about international programs. They are enabled by Egyesek youth workers to use innovative methods such as new media, online tools, outdoor, theatre, sport, upcycling. Their base is in Szécsény which is a small town with 6000 inhabitants and from there they outreach 3 villages where our local partners run permanent afternoon school services. EVSers' role is essential in the area being an important part of the local community they trigger more and more rural youngster to be active, get involved to international projects, healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle and take action towards solving challenges of their own community.
