To address this issue, DIAMAS gathers 23 organisations from 12 European countries, well-versed in OA academic publishing and scholarly communication. The project will: 1. Map the current landscape of Institutional Publishing Service Providers (IPSPs) in 25 countries of the ERA with special attention for IPSPs that do not charge fees for publishing or reading. This will yield a taxonomy of IPSPs and an IPSP landscape report, a basis for the rest of the project. 2. Coordinate and improve the efficiency and quality of IPSPs by developing a European Quality Standard for Institutional Publishing (EQSIP). This quality seal will professionalise, strengthen and reduce the fragmentation of institutional publishing in Europe. EQSIP will serve as a benchmark for a gap analysis of the data in (1). Buy-in and capacity-building is ensured by co-creation with the relevant IPSP communities of practice, creating a Common Access Point for IPSPs, an IPSP registry with 80% of IPSPs in the ERA, publishing guidelines, training materials, self-assessment tools, financial models, and shared cost frameworks. DIAMAS embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion by addressing gender equity in OA publishing and multilingualism in 15 European languages. Special attention is paid to building and enabling the financial sustainability of IPSPs. 3. Formulate community-led, actionable recommendations and strategies for institutional leaders, funders/sponsors/donors, and policymakers in the European Research Area (ERA). Workshops and targeted networking actions will reach and engage institutional decision-makers. In 36 months, DIAMAS will deliver an aligned, high-quality, and sustainable institutional OA scholarly publication ecosystem for the ERA, setting a new standard for OA publishing, shared and co-designed with all stakeholders.

In this context, Text and Data Mining (TDM) enables researchers from different disciplines to analyse, extract insights and knowledge, and exploit diverse and complex datasets from various digital media. However, the present use of TDM in Europe is significantly lower than in the US and Asia, most probably due to limitations imposed by the European legal framework. In this light, the FutureTDM project identifies and reduces the barriers that inhibit the uptake of TDM for researchers, and innovative businesses. FutureTDM provides critical up-to-date assessments of legal regulations and policies impacting TDM in the EU, and places them in the international research and innovation context. It adopts a bottom-up approach by initiating dialogue between all relevant stakeholders, engaging them via knowledge cafés, workshops and representation on the advisory board to help identify barriers, common solutions and increase awareness of TDM practices and their potential. This combined approach will lead to developing novel policy frameworks and interdisciplinary case-driven practitioner guidelines facilitating the spread of TDM activities. Key to success will be the engagement of actors in the broader community (libraries, publishers, funders, etc.), who will be mobilised through workshops and will be provided with targeted recommendations in the Roadmap for TDM’s uptake. The knowledge distilled from quantitative and qualitative research will be integrated into a Collaborative Knowledge Base and Open Information Hub (www.FutureTDM.eu) using insightful visualisations. This dynamic platform will showcase excellence in TDM research and data-driven innovation and serve as reference for current and future TDM practitioners ensuring broader TDM uptake to boost Europe’s research and innovation capacities.

AARC objectives are: 1. Deliver the design of an integrated cross-discipline AAI framework, built on federated access production services (eduGAIN) 2. Increase the uptake of federated access within different research communities 3. Pilot critical components of the proposed integrated AAI where existing production services do not address user needs 4. Validate the results of both the JRA and SA by engaging with the research communities AARC goals will be achieved by: • Researching main technical (attribute providers, guest IdPs, support for non-web SSO) and policy aspects (level of assurance, security incidents, etc) • Supporting (commercial) services relevant to the R&E community • Delivering training to targeted user communities (e.g. libraries, biomedical, arts and humanities) on both technical and legal aspects Relevance to the work programme: 1. Facilitate the deployment and promotion of a pan-European identity federation – Met by: • Designing an AAI framework that builds on federated access and on the evolution of eduGAIN’s interfederation approach • Extensive dissemination of AARC results 2. Lower barriers to entry for organisations – Met by: • Delivering tools to enable federated access for institutions, services and guest users (also meets obj. Allow for public access at large) • Delivering technical training tailored to institutions and services following the train-the-trainer model (also meets obj. Offer training and outreach for data professionals) 3. Overcome technical, organisational and legal obstacles – Met by: • Policies and best practices for operational and security aspects for the integrated AAI • Training on legal aspects, built on experience with eduGAIN 4. Enable the interoperability of different AAIs – Met by: • Models to offer collective services and to aggregate their accounting information • Pilots on security token
