The project starts in the participating regions and cities, which form the starting point for the respective examination of the local cultural heritage, history, traditions, legends and stories and the knowledge of the older population. Following on from the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, this discussion is a particular concern of the partners in the project. We want to train young people to become researchers who use a jointly developed method to deal with the structures that have evolved in their living environment. To this end, institutions from four countries with different backgrounds and approaches have come together. It is a museum, a political organization unit and two schools. We want to benefit from this mix, as well as from the networks that these institutions have. The focus is on learners who will appear as the main actors and who will implement sub-projects in their respective surroundings, which will be communicated to the public in the form of exhibitions, events and publications as well as on the Internet. Institutions that are professionally dedicated to preserving cultural heritage, i.e. archives, museums and libraries, also play an important role. They will represent an important basis for dealing with the topic. At the same time, this is intended to contribute to overcoming the inhibitions that young people undoubtedly often have towards such institutions.Local knowledge, which can only be explored through face-to-face conversation, is also of eminent importance. This intangible cultural heritage is to be collected as part of the project, in which old and young people are brought into conversation with one another in the respective schools and regions. At the same time, the young people make a very important contribution to preserving the knowledge of the older generation (whose living environment differed in so many ways from today's) for the future. With the help of smartphones, etc., it is now relatively easy to record and digitize and thus preserve stories. We would like to fall back on this and, especially in view of the experience with the pandemic, promote dialogue. The European cultural heritage is the theme of the project. We consider the preservation of the cultural heritage to be a central issue. However, it is just as important to convey the cultural heritage to future generations in a suitable form. Because one day they will also become decision-makers who are responsible for the preservation of the cultural heritage (as well as the natural heritage). We also consider the understanding of the different cultural, social, religious and ethnic traditions to be extremely important. This understanding is to be promoted through the examination of regional pasts and traditions and the exchange on an international level. Socially relevant institutions such as museums should also be used. In addition, cooperation with regional and cultural associations plays an important role. By participating in the project, we wanted to encourage young people to find out what defines a region and what significance the cultural heritage has in a city or region. At the same time, we want to make an important contribution to the digitization of cultural heritage and thus to its preservation for the future. The character of the project can be exemplary in many ways. Transferring research in their own living environment to young people, developing suitable methods, focusing on material and immaterial cultural heritage, promoting dialogue between the older and younger generations and at the same time engaging in a European exchange is, however, a must extremely innovative approach. As the applicant institution, the Klostertal Museum Association has endeavored to find a balanced mix of partner institutions. Different types of institutions (schools and NGOs) were taken into account. We see this as a clear strength of the project, because all partners should be able to benefit from each other's backgrounds."

Since its foundation the Museumsverein Klostertal and the Klostertal Museum have startet EU funded Projects to strenghten their profile in terms of an international dimenseion. These actions should be continued consistently in the future. The institution has an excellent reputation in our region. The declared goal is to reinforce the European dimension of knowledge and related issues as well. Political education, a micro historical perspectie that shows European and global history as well as questions of digitalisation are just some of the key areas. Digitalisation is especially important when it comes to the preservation ot our cultural heritage for the future. The Museumsverein Klosterta actually participates in two Interreg projects in the programme Alpenrhein-Bodensee-Hochrhein. The experience that we have gained in these projects should be useful for this Erasmus+ mobility. In the future we will focus more on a wider network all over Europe. Important contacts should be part of this project.Christof Thöny as the coordinator of the European projects ot the Museumsverein Klostertal was chosen for the presented project to take part in a mobility. The experience that he will make will contribute to continuing the work at our institution successfully. In our educational work including talks, symposions, workshops and excursions we plan to emphasize more on European topics. For 2019 we have chosen important developments in contemporary history as a main focus. It is also part of the course that will be visited in Spain. Contacts to be made during the mobility should be helpful for the planning of further strategic partnerships. Some concrete acitivities to present our work on a European strategy are part of the project. We will put special attention on public relation and we will produce a folder on our acitivities. The cricital discourse on European topics should be more and more part of our methods of teaching. In the long run, we expect to broaden our professional skills and to develop and establish a institutional profile on an international level. We think that this is a very important part in a united Europe.

The focus is on the history of winter sports. This topic has played an important role in the Klostertal / Arlberg region for many decades. Since the beginning of the 20th century, skiing and winter tourism have contributed to a structural change that continues until today. This should be discussed, documented and communicated in the museum. We want to do this in a European context. The present project serves the establishment of contacts and the acquisition of competences in this area. Since its foundation, Museumsverein Klostertal and the Klostertal museum have consistently started to strengthen their profile towards internationality through EU-funded projects and other measures. The educational institution enjoys an excellent reputation in the region. The declared goal is to increasingly strengthen the European dimension of knowledge transfer and to push the corresponding topics. Political education, micro-history as a representation of European and global history as well as questions of digitization are just some of the focal areas to be mentioned, the latter playing a very important role not least in the collection of museum objects and in archiving. The Klostertal Museums Association is currently participating in two Interreg projects in the Alpenrhein-Bodensee-Hochrhein program. The experience gained flows into the project submitted here. In the future we would like to focus our network and our projects on the whole European area. Corresponding contacts should now be initiated.Christof Thöny was selected as the coordinator of the previous EU-funded activities and as chairman of the association for the present project in order to take part in further training in Norway, an internship in Finland and a research stay with teaching in the United Kingdom. The partner institutions were selected on the basis of their experience in the area of the history and cultural heritage of winter sports and in the area of European projects. The experience gained should contribute significantly to sharpening the profile of our organization in a topic that is important for our region and to enabling a stronger international orientation of the activities of the Museum Association Klostertal. In the area of educational offers with lectures, symposia, workshops and excursions, it is planned in future to focus more on the topic of the history of winter sports with a European background. This is taken into account in the selected mobility measures; the partners were deliberately selected with due regard to their competence in this area. The contacts made with this mobility are said to be useful for initiating future strategic partnerships. Some concrete measures to make the strategic considerations visible are planned as part of the project. This includes increased public relations work and the publication of a folder with the corresponding content. In addition, the historical-critical discourse on questions of contemporary history (especially in the field of winter sports) should flow more into the program design in the future, not least by organizing a series of lectures. In the long term, we expect the competencies in education and the profile to expand from a strongly regional dimension to an international dimension. In a united Europe where regions play an important role, this should be of particular importance.
