<< Objectives >>The main objective of the project is to build the capacity of youth workers to promote mental wellbeing of marginalised young people through the valorisation of local natural resources and the evolution of youth work systems. This objective can be broken down into specific objectives:1) Develop the competencies and methodological capacity of youth workers to use the environment to support mental health and wellbeing,2) Reinforce European connections among youth workers in different areas (youth employability, environmental education, citizenship education, etc.) aimed at sharing good practices to support mental health and wellbeing3) Build the capacity of organisations (both in the youth sector and beyond) to valorise local natural resources, understand the benefits and promote more nature-based activities for young peopleThe project is rooted in the need to support youth workers to adopt new approaches to engage young people in addressing mental health<< Implementation >>ACTIVITYThe project foresees a 1 week mobility for youth workers from Italy, Spain, Ireland, France, Turkey and Portugal. During the mobility, the youth workers will be involved in non-formal learning activities to develop their ability and measures to use nature-based solutions to promote mental health in young people. For example, they will learn about pet therapy and forest therapy, they will acquire skills to include young people with fewer opportunities in outdoor activities (e.g. through sport) and they will exchange youth workers practices across Europe. The mobility will use a diverse range of non-formal learning activities, such as peer learning, project-based learning, case studies and participatory development approaches. All these practices will be discussed and youth workers will learn how to integrate them in their daily job. The mobility will also be aimed at the development of the Green Care Toolkit, a small tool co-developed by youth workers with activities, measures and ideas to use local natural capital to promote mental health in young people.TARGET GROUPThe target group of the project are youth workers, especially volunteers and younger ones (18 - 30 y.o.). Each participating organisation has youth workers for the implementation of its programmes and actions. We will also focus on youth workers with fewer opportunities and prioritise their participation over other youth workers. Fewer opportunities will be identified in line with the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and will include specifically:Educational difficulties (e.g. Youth workers with SEN needs), Economic obstacles (e.g. youth workers out of work/training or with lower income), Social obstacles (e.g. youth workers from different ethnic background than the majority of people in the country they live in), and geographical obstacles (e.g. youth workers living in rural areas an on an island). We will ensure that min. 50% of the total youth workers will have fewer opportunities. This way, by focussing on younger youth workers with fewer opportunities the project will also have an impact on young people and support them in their professional development.<< Results >>By the end of the project, we expect:1) Youth workers to be empowered to use nature-based solutions and innovative approaches for youth inclusion and mental health support. We also expect the youth workers to become more motivated in their work, have a supportive EU-wide network of youth workers.2) Green Care Toolkit: by the end of the project the youth workers will have created a small toolkit to support themselves in their work but which will also contribute to youth work innovation across Europe. The toolkit will be in English and will be disseminated on a local, regional, national and European network.3) The participating organisations will have further develop methodologies to train youth workers, particularly volunteers. They will also have increased their capacity to engage young people with fewer opportunities (health barriers)
