Description

Context:According to the statement by the Council of Europe Anti-Racism Commission on the current humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean (http://www.coe.int/t/dghl/monitoring/ecri/Library/PressReleases/195-9_06_2015), Strasbourg,19.06.2015,’ ’there is a deep concern at the current humanitarian crisis in the Mediterranean region regarding thousands of people risking their lives, and being exploited by human traffickers, trying to escape various tragic situations in their home countries.” This situation has led to a xenophobic tendency since migration has been part of the common experience of all our countries; thus, European values have been greatly influenced by this. As a consequence, youth work must show solidarity with these vulnerable groups and to accommodate their needs in an urgent matter. This shared responsibility will not only help people in desperate need but will also strengthen the bond between European countries.There were a total of 28 participants in the training course form Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Hungary Portugal, Italy Turkey and AustriaObjectives were:Give basic tools to stimulate participants' creativity and creative, out-the-box thinking to facilitate more attractive activities for the marginalized groupsExplore the topics of intolerance, racism, migration and marginalized groupsCreate a space for sharing experiences as youth workers working with vulnerable groupsDevelop participants’ skills in planning and developing a project targeting marginalized groupsDevelop participants' trust in implementing more visible, more innovative activities for marginalized groupsFears:-language barriers, being afraid of making mistakes, not having enough knowledge about the topic;-forget everything about the project, applying knowledge when going back home, keep in touch with the other course participantsResults & longer-term benefits:-developing personal and soft skills, learning how to write a project, having fun and intercultural connections, discovering new places, going out of comfort zone,-breaking stereotypes, improve teacher/student relationship, acquire more profound knowledge about the tolerance, listen to stories and experiences shared, develop future projects-improving social skills, improving English skills, breaking down the prejudice and stereotype, create new projects for the future, have funContributions:-taking photos, preparing videos for activities, animation,-respect and tolerance, teaching sports , teaching active listening skills, organizing karaoke night, teach Turkish language, teach folk dances, give massage, teaching how to make bread
