Project for higher education student and staff mobility between Programme Countries and Partner Countries

Description

The University’s Development Programme for the years 2012-2020, defines the mission of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (UWM). The mission in question is to carry out diverse activities, with the aim to educate highly qualified graduates and scientific staff, to carry out scientific research responding to the needs of the region’s economy, and to enrich the national culture. One of the strategic goals is the internationalization of the University in the areas of education and research. The action programme aiming to achieve this goal includes, among others, the promotion and popularization of national and international mobility programmes for students and doctoral students. The programme also enables the participation in international educational projects such as “Higher education student and staff mobility between Programme and Partner Countries”. The University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn was the beneficiary of the very programme in its 2018 edition. The University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn has received funding for the realisation of the project activities in the amount of 67 470,00 EUR. 25 mobilities were fully realised: mobility of students (1 mobility – incoming, 1 mobility - outgoing), mobility of academic teachers (12 incoming and 8 outgoing mobilities), mobility of academic staff (3 incoming). As for the students, the length of stay was 5 months. When it comes to academic staff and teachers, the length of stay equals 7 days. For reasons beyond the University’s control, the outbreak of coronavirus disease, the University trying to facilitate the realization of the agreement applied for the elongation of the project from 26 up to 38 months, counting that the situation would soon get better in Poland and all over the world. In the scope of the allocated budget, out of 30 planned mobilities 25 were fully realized. Inability to realize the missing mobilities was caused by the restrictions concerning the border crossing with the partner countries (The United States, Tajikistan, Senegal). The restrictions in question last till today.
