The Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) focusses in its studies, teaching and research on Europe. Through the Erasmus programme with partner countries, the EUF has the opportunity to support particularly successful cooperations outside Europe and to broaden the focus in terms of content, e.g. by promoting knowledge exchange in the area of European studies, economics and in the different subjects of the teacher training. In particular, the internationalisation of the teacher training is a priority internationalisation goal of the EUF and the partner institutions. In 2018/21, the Erasmus+ programme was therefore strategically expanded to the Middle East and the South to support the perspective gain in studies, teaching and research. Thus, the project was not only successfully implemented with the previous partner country Russia (and 3 partner institutions, East), but extended to a new partner university in Ghana (South) and 3 partner institutions in Palestine (Middle East). However, due to the Corona pandemic, some planned mobilities could not be carried out. The mobilities included a. 16 student mobilities from Palestine to EUF at BA level and 2 from EUF at BA level to An Najah/Nablus. The field of study in the home and destination countries included English studies, cultural and political sciences, social sciences and economics. Due to the Corona pandemic, there was only 1 student mobility to Russia (BA, Educational Sciences). 11 BA and MA students from the fields of European studies, economics, education, languages, literature and linguistics were received. From Ghana, 5 BA students from the field of languages were accepted during the project period. In addition, a doctoral student (educational sciences) was able to come to the EUF twice as part of her doctorate. In return, a student mobility (Phd) took place to Ghana in the same department.b. Lecturer mobility in both directions. During the project period, there were no teaching exchanges with Palestine due to the Corona pandemic. With Ghana, one teaching exchange each (social sciences and education) took place in the context of teacher training at both university locations. With the Russian partner universities, several planned mobilities for teaching purposes could not be realised. At the EUF, 4 teachers were welcomed (3 in the context of cultural and social sciences from Penza, 1 in the context of teacher training from Kaliningrad). Due to the Corona pandemic, only one STA mobility to Russia took place (Moscow, cultural and social sciences).c. Staff mobility. High priority was given to the successful structural development of cooperation with the new partner countries Ghana and Palestine. To this end, several mobilities of the responsible persons (Vice-Presidents for International Affairs, responsible professors, staff) were organised in Palestine. A German-Palestinian Summer School in 2019 marked the start of the establishment of a graduate school at the EUF. At the EUF, 5 colleagues were received from the three partners from Palestine. A delegation (Dean International Affairs, professor) was received from Ghana, which is responsible for the establishment and (content-related and structural) development of the cooperation. The EUF sent staff members who are responsible for the development and networking of the project. In order to ensure the sustainability of the teaching and training measures, some STT participants were supported several times. The trips were also used to discuss issues of project implementation, (quality) management and further planning. In the case of Russia, outgoing mobility served to advance the structural discussions of the planned double degree with Penza. EUF also welcomed 2 responsible persons (Moscow and Kaliningrad) to discuss qualitative project management issues (e.g. inclusion, access to course programmes, support with visa applications). The strategic goal was and is for participants to acquire professional, linguistic and personal skills and competences as well as intercultural sensitivity. The intended goals were clearly exceeded in student mobility and staff mobility. In line with the internationalisation strategy, student mobility was mainly at BA and PhD level and staff mobility in the area of further education. This reflects the EUF's strategic measures, including the introduction of a mobility window in all Bachelor's degree programmes and the targeted promotion of training measures with KA107 partners. Although many planned mobilities in ST could not be realised, the Corona crisis was used to introduce new exchange formats in ST (online) and to intensify them, especially with Penza.
