Description

The project aimed at students' professional development by the training in foreign enterprises of participants' fields of study. The key aims were also the understanding of operation of foreign and international companies, comparing working methods between Poland and the target country, learning how to cooperate efficiently in an international team and presenting novel and new technological solutions, to promote language learning, professional language use and the culture and organization of work different from the native one. Besides, the project aim was to meet the policy of modern European education in terms of mobility within vocational education, cooperation between educational entities, development of vocational training programs, better transparency in and transfer of vocational qualifications, application of IT in lifelong education, and last but not least, in terms of the all-European meaning of education as such. The project covered 60 students (4 groups of 15 students) undergoing a vocational training in Spain (Granada, Seville) and Ireland (Cork). Almost all of them were the third grade (4 of the second grade) students at Zespół Szkół Technicznych i Ogólnokształcących /the Technical and General Education School Complex/ in Bytom, Poland specializing in IT, mechatronics and economics. The monthly training was held in November 2016, In September and November 2017 in Spanish companies dealing directly with IT branches, in particular with computer graphics, web design, network administration and programming, and in March 2018 in Irish ones - mechatronics branch (production lines, control systems, 3D design) and economics (running a company, accounting). There were many foreign companies involved in a project. Most of them had already cooperated or still cooperate with ZSTiO within the framework of Erasmus+, Leonardo da Vinci and ESF programmes. No students with special needs were engaged in the project. The participating students underwent the recruitment procedure and met its criteria. Most of students were of full legal age. The project involved teachers from our school who were responsible for preparing the students willing to meet the project's language, vocational and cultural objectives. There was a school coordinator appointed as a person responsible for management of the project and its proper course during the individual stages (information, recruitment, preparation, tickets and insurance, contacts with parents, training, evaluation, report). There were several institutions involved in organising all the mobilities. These institutions had already cooperated with ZSTiO, having substantial experience in terms of such projects. During the training session participants were accompanied by a teacher who directly supervised all participants, helped them, solved problems and took any decision on behalf of school headmaster. The integral part of the project was evaluation and promotion after every mobility. The most important results of the project are: acquisition of practical skills in the students' profession, better chances to find a job after graduation, strengthening self-confidence and ability to cope with stressful situations, breaking language and culture-based barriers, strengthening the awareness of cross-European dimension of individual education, learning creative thinking and reasoning skills and to promote our school in the local and regional community. Physical results inserted on a project's website are publications, presentations, films with detailed reports on the training.
