New challenge: entrepreneurship

Description

<< Objectives >>The countries worldwide are faced both with internal and external migration and the nature of migration varies depending on the reasons why people migrate, whether migration is based on free will or not (wars, climate change, lack of job opportunities, etc). When people face risks in their home country, they tend to migrate seeking a safe place and shelter where to settle down. Yet, they face new challenges such as adaptation and integration regarding language, culture, social norms, social values & attitudes of the recipient society towards foreigners. There are various social policies which target to facilitate the integration process of the latter and contribute towards an inclusive society. Social integration is obviously the aim of the policy-makers when it comes to migrant issues, but sometimes is not ample as it has many different levels/pitches. We believe that, by encouraging and supporting migrants/refugees to start-up a business can make it easier for them to get adapted/integrated, to cooperate with locals and make them have the sense of belonging, participation and inclusion. We chose to jot down such a YE Program together with our young beneficiaries (refugees/migrants/ and youth with fewer opportunities) who will contribute to the activities, by sharing different ideas and mindset as well as by disseminating the outputs of the multi-cultural group working. Through this Youth Exchange we intent to bring together group leaders with youth work background on entrepreneurship and 3 facilitators experienced on migrant/refugee issues and entrepreneurship, young people without and with fewer opportunities (migrants/refugees) regardless of their gender interested in the topic or who might have an entrepreneurial idea but do not know where to start from 18 to 30 years old, youth without and with fewer opportunities (migrants/refugees) already involved in entrepreneurship businesses making a total of 36 participants (8+1). Moreover, we as a consortium deem that this intervention is pertinent to the situation (pandemic) which has worsened the position of migrants/refugees all over the world including here Europe. The countries involved in this project are: Sweden, Germany, France, and Spain. This youth exchange will be a space for all the above mentioned groups to explore, discuss, share, get inspired, identify the problems and reach any possible solutions. The main objectives of this project are: • To facilitate the interaction and cooperation between youngsters without and with fewer opportunities by implementing common entrepreneurial projects • To encourage the spirit of entrepreneurial initiative among migrants/refugees of age 18-30 years old; • To raise awareness on the importance of social inclusion of people/youth with fewer opportunities in EU countries complex societies • To promote the importance of entrepreneurship on integration process of migrants in countries part of this project as host societies of migrants and refugees; • To create space for exchanging methodology approaches about entrepreneurship • To disseminate and spread around the project's results & and bring into the light issues that unprivileged groups face and faced notably during the lockdown. The overall aim of the project is to foster social inclusion of people (youth with fewer opportunities migrants/refugees) through means of entrepreneurship. Partners have been selected through an open call and from previous collaborations working in the field of youth and entrepreneurship. We tried to bring together in one “table” countries which have faced internal and external waves of migration, countries that have been from time to time generating migrants and those which have been hosting them, participants will have the chance to look at things in a range of angels. The venue-city is Barcelona, Spain as a place affected by migration and due to this it has turned out to be more and more diverse.<< Implementation >>The main activity to be implemented will be the youth exchange which will last for 11 days (including travel days) and will guide the participants through a journey of discovering what actually entrepreneurship is about, understand its context and explore possibilities in the different countries in the EU. Free space during the YE will be offered in order for the participants to brainstorm and finalize on ideas that will boost entrepreneurship chances in their local communities, as a tool that will foster migrants' integration and social inclusion. As the activity itself, is a non-formal education tool to raise awareness and tackle certain issues, the activities to be carried out within the frame of the Youth Exchange will be also non-formal education methods such as: discussions, debates (House of Parliament format), video presentations, study visit, social games, Human Library, working groups, team building activities etc. Apart from the main activity, follow-up activities will be implemented at least 2 per partner (participants will be largely responsible for them) that will be info-session, workshop or video. A detailed plan of the activities, is shown in the timetable of the activities, attached in the annex section. The total number of participants will be 36, respectively: (8) participants and (1) Group Leader per each partner. The total number of partners is 4 partners. Four of participants will be with fewer opportunities (migrants/refugees) and 4 of them without, inside the group we will make sure to respect gender balance by having an equal number of males and females. This goes not only for Youth Exchange but will be valid for follow-up activities to and notably for info-sessions and workshops.<< Results >>The activities that will be taken under this Youth Exchange will reach certain results: Boosted the level of confidence and competence working on migrant and entrepreneurship issues of 36 participants; - Encouraged the spirit of entrepreneurial initiative at participants of the Youth Exchange but also, youth part of follow-up activities, One brochure created and published online, - At least 10 follow up activities conducted, 12 awareness raising and sensibilisation - Participants expanded their knowledge on entrepreneurship and migration issues- videos produced _Expanding their network since they will be cooperating with other people while working on their social or business entrepreneurial activity;- Expand the network of organizations working across borders of the country where the project will be implemented, - Create space for building international and cross-sectoral partnership using social resources for future cooperation and contributing to a better and more inclusive European society.
