The Erasmus+ Project is an integral part of the international strategy pursued by the Politecnico of Torino (PoliTO) aimed at encouraging the mobility of students (both incoming and outgoing), professors and administrative staff as an essential tool to promote innovation in society and increase the Higher Instruction System quality.During the A.y. 2016/17 PoliTO, in parallel to the strengthening of the relations with Central and South America and to the implementation of institutional partnerships with the most high-reputed on an international level Universities in the USA, in Canada, in Japan and Russia, launched actions targeted at supporting and enhancing student mobility through administrative and financial instruments. The main actions which were developed during the A. y. 2016/17 are:- increase of the amount of the grants supporting student mobility, starting from students moving towards extra-EU countries in the A. y. 2017/18;- balance of destinations between Winter and Summer Call (respectively for mobility in the 1st semester or 2nd semester) according to the Academic Calendars in force at the different partner Universities;- review of the selection procedures in the frame of Erasmus+/PROGRAMME COUNTRIES mobility also using a new computer-based system aimed to improve the process efficiency and efficacy; this new model will be used starting from the A.y. 2017/18.PoliTO has furthermore included the International Mobility among the opportunities dedicated to the most excellent students, enrolled in Engineering Bachelor Courses and involved in the Young Talents Project. Such an initiative represents for PoliTO a novelty among the existing mobility programs addressed to Engineering students, for whom is usually allowed to spend a study period abroad only during the Msc. This initiative required a significant effort for selecting adequate academic partners offering courses that can match PoliTO students’ careers. Thanks to this program, 60 new mobility agreements have been activated. The student mobility as a whole involves 2000 students, 1000 incoming and 1000 outgoing, 650 of which, supported by an Erasmus+ grant. Due to these high numbers, PoliTO is quoted as one of the most involved and active Italian University with regard to International Exchange Programs. This testify the continuous commitment of Polito in encouraging Students’ Mobility.Regarding professors and staff mobility, after a first experimental year in which a specific call was launched, in 2016/2017a new call was settled. This call has been renewed in terms of rules and selection requirements with a particular focus on the evaluation system of the applications; in fact, in the first edition selection was mainly was only based on the assessment of the mobility didactic programs quality and on the didactic level of applicant professors, whilst now a reward mechanism on behalf of professors who actively support Internationalization of PoliTO has been added. Moreover, a great improvement on application documents has been introduced in order to make the selection process simpler and clearer. These actions aimed at a further engagement of PoliTO staff into the process of internationalization, by ensuring high standards on teaching offer of partner Universities.Concerning the incoming mobility of professors and administrative staff, PoliTO has maintained the selection procedures, which are based on an accurate quality analysis of didactic offers and giving priority to the training projects, which are complementary to the internal didactic offer. Professors Exchange Programs have led to the definition of new agreements - even for the student mobility - or the strengthening of pre-existing ones. The orientation and mentoring service has been improved still further by the accurate and widespread information about outgoing and incoming mobility opportunities, thanks to a growing involvement in promotional Fairs and events, to the organization of conference calls, to the continuous support given to the Internationalization Department staff and to the Academic Professors of the different Courses and, finally, to the whole reorganization of the Internationalization section of Politecnico website.
