Sustainable Development Strategy in the European Union and Russia: on the way to the common future

Description

Sustainable development is a fundamental and overarching objective of the EU, enshrined in Article 3 of the Treaty on European Union. A revised (in 2006) version of the EU Sustainable Development Strategy identifies 7 key challenges and corresponding targets and actions: Climate change and clean energy, sustainable transport; sustainable consumption and production; Natural resources; Public health; Social inclusion, demography and migration; Global poverty and sustainable development challenges; Cross-cutting policies contributing to the knowledge society. Nowadays the Agenda 2030 is integrating to the EU policies for sustainable development. The EU’s Global Strategy for the European Union’s Foreign And Security Policy adopted in June 2016, integrates the SDGs into a coherent EU Foreign and Security Policy.The main project objective is promotion knowledge on European values and Sustainable Development Strategies in Russia among many groups of interested parties. The project will implement a set of activities: 1) training course “Sustainable Development Strategy: EU and Russia on the way to the common future” for bachelor, master and PhD-students, public authorities, members of NGO; 2) website with relevant information and references on EU experience in the Sustainable Development;3) student research project competition on the sustainable development policy gaps between EU and Russia;4) the roundtable “EU Sustainable Development: experience for Russia”; 5) study book “Sustainable Development Strategy: EU and Russia on the way to the common future”.Main project outputs: promotion EU Sustainable Development experience in the Russia, motivation of young people to study the trends and patterns of Sustainable Development in the EU; engaging authorities in decision-making concerning Sustainable Development at the regional and local levels; encouragement of partners, including business community to develop interests to sustainable future.
