The Quality of DualVET

Description

The Erasmus+ Project KA202 – Strategic Partnerships for Vocational Education and Training, ‘The Quality of DualVET’ – was developed in response to the identified need to assess the quality of vocational education and training, and to undertake an objective evaluation of the learning process, that is especially being developed in countries in the early stages of integrating this vocational training method. These needs were identified following contact between vocational training schools in Italy and Spain and public education authorities who, especially in Andalusia, are supporting the institutions to bring the project to its fruition. In order to realize the project objectives, the project coordinator, IES Hermanos Machado of Seville (Spain), believed it necessary to incorporate the following organizations as partners:•Institutions able to carry out educational research and analysis and to produce reports (Universities).Seville University and Federico II University, Naples.•Private companies that, as well as offering their vision and opinion on the project as businesses, lean on the professional expertise and experience of their workforce in the field of vocational training projects led by strategic partnerships, and whose activities and purpose include advising and training businesses from a wide variety of sectors. (Private Businesses). Vocational Education and Training, S.L., Seville (Spain) and Bildungswerk der Niedersächsischen Wirtschaft Gemeinn, GmbH, Lower Saxony (Germany).•Vocational education institutions with experience in vocational education and training. (State schools specializing in vocational training).Iti Renato Elia, Salerno (Italy) – Berufsbildende Schulen des Landkreis, Osnabrück (Germany). The Quality of DualVET was designed with a view to involving partners in countries in the early stages of integrating the work-based-learning (WBL) model as well as others coming from countries where these methods have been successfully integrated for many years and, as such, can offer their experience and expertise in a practical way, not only in the system’s implementation but also in its quality control and evaluation. Two intellectual tools are envisaged for the project:•An evaluation and quality control guide on vocational education and training. The guide is the product of collaboration between all the organizations participating in vocational education and training and establishes quality control criteria in accordance with EQAVET descriptors that the organizations must comply with. It also utilizes other necessary resources to ensure the project’s success, namely: educational centers, businesses, student training, training manuals and professional integration of apprentices.•A digital tool for evaluation and quality control of FPDual.A web application will be developed to serve as a digital aid to the FPDual evaluation and quality control guide. As such, the resource will not only be used by participating, but accessible everywhere and at all times. To create these two intellectual tools, different activities will be undertaken, carried out in compliance with management, quality, testing and diffusion plans. Included within these activities are: transnational meetings between the partners, learning activities, education and training in Germany, training sessions for interested collaborators as well as further events. As an immediate impact of the project, partners will share good practices, receive support from experts in Germany and will be able to view their educational system from a critical perspective thus identifying its strengths and weaknesses. They will be able to apply new ideas and conclusions about quality control and evaluation to their daily work relating to FPDual, and to put procedures into practice, incorporating them into their own FPDual training plans. In the medium term, training manuals produced by universities will incorporate the conclusions of the FPDual evaluation and quality control guides. In the long term, and being an innovative digital tool, there is a commitment from public educational authorities that the two intellectual tools will be integrated into control, monitoring and evaluation procedures of vocational education and training programs carried out in their relative countries and regions. The project ‘The Quality of DualVET’ complements outcomes of the projects: Erasmus+ KA2 ‘’EQAVET in practice’’ 2015-1-SE01-KA202-012245 and the project Erasmus+ ‘’Dual-Vet partners in Europe’’ 2017-1-ES01-KA202-038512.
