Description

Youth exchange ‘SAY NO TO HATE SPEECH’ was hosted by Swedish organization ‘Västra Götalands Debattförening’ in Sikhall Camping, Sweden. The youth exchange connected 10 youth organizations from following countries: Sweden, UK, Turkey, Romania, Estonia, Spain, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland and Bulgaria. Every national team had 5 participants and 1 group leader, including 2 participants with fewer opportunities. Date of project was 1-10 September 2019.Main goal of youth exchange ‘SAY NO TO HATE SPEECH’ was to address hate speech and to empower the participants to stand against online and offline hate speech. This goal was reached through various non-formal based activities design in line with the following project objectives: - to strengthen competencies of the participants to effectively use various media, including social one, as tools for awareness raising;- to increase competencies of the participants and participating organizations to fight offline and online hate speech in their communities;- to create plans for local events addressing hate speech in participant’s communities and a series of video messages on hate speech;- to develop communication, teamwork, leadership skills of the participants in intercultural settings;- to raise awareness, especially among young people, on the issue offline and online hate speech and hate crime , its forms and consequences; - to support creating new contacts among the participants and their organizations and developing new projects ideas that could be implemented with the support of Erasmus + Programme; - to raise knowledge of the participants and the organizations on Erasmus + Programme and especially encourage the participants to take part in mobility activities.Overall, the project met settled objectives. It responded on the challenge of raising online and offline hate speech across participating countries. It increased knowledge of the participants on the topic and it provided them an opportunity to develop their competences to stand up against hate speech. Moreover, the project provided the participants an opportunity to increase their knowledge of Erasmus + Programme and to develop new project ideas reflecting the challenges across participating countries.
