Linking Linguistics to Data Science - LL2DS - aims at designing a fully integrated Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in the field of linguistic data science (LDS), delivered by a consortium involving the NOVA University of Lisbon (Portugal), the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan (Italy), the University of Zaragoza (Spain), the University of Ireland (Galway) and the National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology – INRIA (France).LL2DS's goal is, thus, to position itself as innovative amongst programmes around the world in its novel approach of linking Linguistics to Data Science in terms of its methodology, intellectual content, pedagogical approach, and curricular structure. Given the wide range of competencies in the area of LDS, the fundamental approach of the LL2DS project is to exploit the specific expertise in research and teaching in both linguistics and data science provided by all the partners involved. This will also increase the competitiveness of Linguistics as a discipline by firmly linking it to the shifting demands of the academic and professional job market, specifically the growing need for accurate, accessible, and inspiring engagement with the possibilities of Data Science.
