Paving the way for International Co-operation 2 (PIC 2) was a two-year project. 31 VET professionals at Raisio Regional Education and Training Consortium (Raseko) performed their 6 - 12 days mobility period abroad. Host organizations were from Germany, Malta, North-Ireland (Great Britain), Sweden, France, Belgium, Iceland, Denmark and Spain. Internationalism, multiculturalism, knowledge about different working cultures and vocational competencies as well as diverse language skills is important elements of the teachers in their work. As a result, Raseko sees that staff member’s continuing education is important for developing international work. Mobility period are approved as part of Raseko's continuing education, which was agreed separately between participant and their managers development discussions. Staff member’s continuing education is mentioned on the Raseko level in Consortium's own HR strategy and unit-level in the annual staff training plans. However, financial situation within Finnish VET is becoming very challenging and this puts more difficulties for staff mobility’s. In PIC 2 project participants were VET teachers, administration, counselors and apprenticeship center staff members, which has shown their interest to act more closely in Raseko's international activities for students and for development. There was a cultural training which was according to the needs and participants self-orientation for language and vocational subjects before the period. Report training was given by the Consortium's international coordinator after the period.During the mobility periods participants should be able to collect learning outcomes that are able students to achieve during their 5 or 10 weeks of work-based learning periods. In addition, participants increased their own and their schools knowledge about international activities and they learned also new teaching practices and techniques when visiting the host organizations. Mobility periods also supported the participant's language skills, as well as individual learning pathways plans in consortium's various departments. In addition, those departments that have not yet been internationally oriented started their international activities development. As an outcome in PIC 2 project teachers gathered and analyzed learning outcomes that are achievable abroad. Consortium received information on work practices and work cultures in other countries. Consortium also developed competencies and experiences in ECVET system together with host organizations.Project outcomes was distributed in consortium's project fairs, staff members meetings in departments, homapage, network of vocational schools and internationally such as through EREIVET network.
