"""Green Reunion"" was a multilateral Erasmus+ Key Action 1, Youth Exchange project, that gathered 31 young people and 6 leaders (in total 37 participants) from 5 countries (France, Romania, Poland, Spain and Italy), during 2 and 12 November 2018, in Cilaos, Reunion, France. Through the spirit of the active European Citizenship, ""Green Reunion"" managed to underline, the importance of the environmental awareness practices, in rural areas, by the young participants, through creative campaigns, conducted using methods of non-formal education and through concrete actions, to reduce the negative impact, caused by man, on the natural environment. At the same time, we brought a better communication to create a better and durable link, between the young participants in this project and the local residents of Reunion Island.The main activities of the program where: agreeing and taking as inspiration that the spirit of European Citizenship (which included: putting into practice, beneficial ideas to society, solidarity between people, care for the environment and stopping pollution) of a good environmental practice, development of collective concrete actions, with positive impact on natural environment, campaigns for awareness and promoting the best practices, in an interactive way, using the methods of non-formal education, including: local authorities, within the group discussions and activities for establishing, in the end, a medium term strategy, to promote good environmental practices, in the area, including here young people, with fewer opportunities, from the rural areas of the region, both in the organizing team and in the dissemination target group . According to all above, ""Green Reunion"": - Promoted the concept of the ""Active European citizenship"", reminding to the young people, values such as, solidarity and dialogue, values that they showed, both in activities within the group, but also when they interacted with members of local community. The idea from which we started, was that a good citizen is concerned, about the problems facing the community, in this case, the green, and he actively got involved, in finding remedies and solutions; - Determined the involvement of the young people, in general issues, that affects society, in this case, their care for the environment; - It was focused on solidarity, for the rural community members, where the project unfolds and for tolerance, for their disadvantages, caused by the lack of an appropriate environmental education; - It emphasised on diversity, having 37 participants, from 5 different countries, with different cultural background; - Developed mutual understanding, between young people, from different countries and cultures, they assumed also a series of commitments and as well, established ways of how to work together, as a group; - Promoted active learning, introducing various methods of non-formal education; - Included young people, with fewer opportunities, from rural areas (unemployed, with economic difficulties from isolated areas, with less access to information) as an active part of this project that ""Green Reunion"" was."
