In 2018, GECAD - Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation and Development, was organized around a very dynamic and motivated team of 12 PhD researchers, with different backgrounds, namely from Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Computer Science. With this team all the objectives established has been achieved and the proposed performance indicators have been met we. We applied to competitive research calls and we had 13 new approved projects (6 international ad 7 national), funded by FCT, P2020, Erasmus+ and H2020. GECAD researchers have been publishing their research results in high-level scientific journals and relevant books and conferences. For 2019 GECAD will continues focused on the development of scientific research and innovation, incorporating of Intelligence in Engineering and Computing Systems. GECAD expertise, namely in Artificial Intelligence, Ambient Intelligence, Affective Computing, Decision Support, Smart Grids, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability, Demand Response, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Internet-of-Things, is used to deal with complex systems in fields, like Energy, Industry, Cities, Security, and Tourism. Considering the research work of GECAD team and the trends expressed in several agendas in 2019 we will address: - wide use of intelligent solutions in Engineering and Computing to deal with real-world problems (Energy, Environment, Cities, Industry, Security, etc) - the need to handle large amounts of data (Big Data) to solve complex problems - deep work in cognitive and knowledge-based components and system intelligence, complemented by data-driven intelligence - new ways to establish the collaboration and integration of the Human Being with the developed Intelligent Engineering and Computing Systems - understand ethical, legal, and social implications of the adoption of intelligent systems - develop systems able to operate safely and securely Recursos humanos, estima-se necessidade de 17000Eur que permitira contratar 1 bolseiro e suportar parte dos custos de um doutorado; Missões, estima-se necessidade de 15000, maioritariamente para participar em eventos de brokerage internacionais, com vsita à captação de projectos; Aquisição de bens e serviços, estima-se necessidade de 3000Eur; Demonstração, Promoção e Divulgação, estima-se necessidade de 1000 Eur; Equipamentos, estima-se necessidade de 4000Eur, para aquisição de 2 portateis e outro equipamento de menor valor.
