Water in zircon: how wet was the early Earth?

Description

Water in zircon can be used to reconstruct water contents of magmas, but is hampered by its complex chemical behaviour. This project will use melt inclusion in zircons to develop an accurate magmatic water proxy, and apply this to estimate water contents of magmas from the early Earth.
