Buhareket. 18. yüzyılda İngiliz kilisesi içerisinde Wesley kara~şlerindebulunduğu bir cemaat olarak başlamıştır. İlk Metodist Kilise i784yılında Ameril<a'da Francis Asbury tarafından kurulmuştur. MetodistKilise çeşitli sebeplerden dolayı yayılmıştır. Metodist .Protestan ·Kilise(1830),. Güney Metodist Episkopal Kilise (1845), bağımsız metodistKilise ve African "Metodist Episkopal Kilise (f816), African MethodistEpiscopal Sion Kilise -(1820), . Hıristiyan (Renkli) Metodlsi:. Kilise· (1870), Metodist !<ilise (1939)'da kurulmuştur. Metotodist Kilise ileEvarijelik Birleşik · Kardeşler'in birleşmesi ile 1968 yılinda Birleşik· Metodist Kilise oluşmuştur. Bu olay Metodist Kiliseler arasındayeniden birleşmedir.
