Abstract

The ongoing change in the paradigm of linguistic studies that is becoming increasingly anthropocentric and interdisciplinary in nature causes changes in methods of teaching foreign languages, namely: the content of knowledge that provides the process of foreign language acquisition is increasing in volume. The content includes not only the knowledge of the structural-functional peculiarities of the target language, but also a broad range of views, numerous social, socio-cultural, cross-cultural, psychological parameters reflected in the specifics of communicative behavior of people. To discuss the problem of the theoretical status of intercultural didactics as the basis of modern researches in the field of teaching foreign languages and cultures the multivariate analysis of its capabilities was carried out. A new theoretical framework for the research field of “language education” is presented as a result of generalization of the data obtained. The theoretical framework can be used to develop relevant theoretical and methodological strategies and practice-oriented tactics of research in the area.
