Frequency Control Ancillary Service Market Design: Insights from the Australian National Electricity Market

FCAS markets offer three features that may reduce costs and facilitate the integration of larger quantities of variable renewables, such as wind and solar photovoltaics. These have been successfully implemented in the Australian National Electricity Market and may serve as an effective model for other electricity systems.
