Distributed Generators based DSTATCOM and its Harmonic Assessment
Distributed Generators based DSTATCOM and its Harmonic Assessment
Renewable distributed generators (DG) is employed to the DC link of DSTATCOM for mitigating the power quality (PQ) issues of nonlinear load connected to low voltage distribution network (LVDN). The DG consists of a photovoltaic system (PVS), wind energy conversion system (WECS) and micro hydro system (MHS) integrated to a DC bus through power electronic interfacing. Hence, DSTATCOM incorporates the features of interfacing inverter as well as mitigates the current harmonics generated by the non-linear load. The DSTATCOM control based on p-q theory (PQT) is implemented and to ensure its effectiveness, harmonics distortion is analyzed. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of the point of common coupling (PCC) voltage and current are computed as well as the individual harmonic distortion is highlighted to give further insight. The harmonic distortion limits as per IEEE std. 519-2014 is followed. The complete system is modeled and simulated in Matlab/Simulink environment.
