Integrating CAD Editing into GIS: Exploring the Synergy Between Geographic Information Systems and Computer-Aided Design
There's a saying that CAD focuses on modeling individual objects from the real world, while GIS is designed to model the world itself. There's a lot of truth to this, but it doesn't mean these two segments are mutually exclusive. In fact, they complement each other perfectly. It's impossible to model and design the world without incorporating all the small pieces that make it up. Every single object, when part of a larger picture, needs to find its place in the world. This is where GIS plays a crucial role. To achieve inclusivity in design, SGIS has developed technology that allows for the creation of features and shapes, shaping and editing of features and entities, all while retaining and maintaining their attributes.
