Hidroponía. Cultivos sostenibles sin suelo
handle: 10017/45810
In the last century, with the development of traditional agricultural techniques, we have been putting pressure on resources, causing more and more people to have problems accessing safe food. The near future is going to be determined by a growing world population and an exodus to the cities that increase the agricultural impact, so new techniques for growing vegetables that are more sustainable are developed. Hydroponic techniques offer a viable alternative, since their use represents savings in the fundamentals of traditional agriculture (water and soil). In this work, a detailed description of the hydroponic systems has been made in order to establish a relationship in terms of sustainability with traditional techniques. After comparing both techniques, it can be affirmed that hydroponics reduces water use by up to 99%, increases the plant / surface unit ratio, and has a production equal to or greater than the traditional one. In addition, it is more environmentally friendly, avoiding the use of pesticides and reducing contamination of soils and groundwater.
