Abstract

RESUMEN: En este trabajo se presenta el diseño y simulación numérica de una VAWT bioinspirada para la generación de energía eléctrica. Con bajas velocidades de viento. El diseño bioinspirado se ha seleccionado el perfil aerodinámico del vencejo común, esta especie tiene la capacidad de mantener un vuelo constante durante 10 meses, ejecutando funciones biológicas como alimentarse, aparearse, incluso dormir durante el vuelo. A partir de las propiedades aerodinámicas del vencejo se presenta la metodología de diseño y simulación numérica de la turbina VAWT. La turbina diseñada puede contribuir a la diversificación de la matriz energética o la generación distribuida con fuentes no convencionales de energía renovable, dado que se encontró una mejoría del 17% frente al modelo tradicional de turbina Darrius.
