The ontological commitment of pedagogy. Between participatory citizenship and learning city
handle: 10807/231467
An adequate phenomenological consideration of human existence (which does not hide its anthropological-cultural or psychosocial relationships) reveals that in order to form that peculiar consciousness of existing that belongs to identity, understood as attestation of oneself, one must accept to be oneself, as well as opening oneself to otherness, contributing to transform the world, recognising oneself capacious of acting and willing to suffer ‘on one’s own body’. The crises that loom over our time and the new social, economic and environmental complexities call the attention of scholars to consider the relevance of ethical behaviours to promote development. Today, pedagogy is called upon to be a science which reads the present and anticipates the future, in between values and educational intentionality, while choosing new lifestyles and unprecedented production modalities.
