Tchad : Diagnostic Environnemental Pays

Le Tchad est confronté à d’énormes défis : pauvreté, insécurité associée à la fragilité, aux conflits et à la violence (FCV) et faible accès aux services de base tels que l’éducation, la santé et l’eau potable. En outre, c’est le pays le plus vulnérable au changement climatique, selon l’Initiative mondiale d’adaptation de Notre Dame, 2021. Dans ce contexte difficile, la crise de la COVID-19 a aggravé les difficultés économiques, creusé les inégalités et plongé des centaines de milliers de Tchadiens dans l’extrême pauvreté. Les principaux défis environnementaux sont les suivants : i) dégradation des sols ; (ii) la gestion des déchets et (iii) le changement climatique.
Chad faces enormous challenges: poverty, insecurity associated with fragility, conflict, and violence (FCV), and low access to basic services such as education, health, and drinking water. In addition, it is the world’s most vulnerable country to climate change, according to the Notre Dame Global Adaptation Initiative, 2021. In this challenging context, the COVID-19 crisis worsened economic difficulties, increased inequality, and plunged hundreds of thousands of Chadians in extreme poverty. Key environmental challenges include: (i) Land degradation; (ii) Waste management and (iii) Climate change.
