Abstract
Questo Dizionario tratta la questione ambientale intesa nella sua accezione più ampia. In esso sono infatti esposti e discussi contenuti e categorie dell'ecologia, della scienza cioè che si occupa delle interdipendenze dinamiche che caratterizzano i rapporti nella biosfera tra le forme viventi e l'ambiente fisico che le ospita. Contestualmente, il Dizionario tratta del ruolo peculiare che nell'ecosistema terrestre ricopre la specie umana, con la propria capacità di influire pesantemente sull'evoluzione dell'ambiente naturale, basti pensare tra l'altro alla crescente produzione di rifiuti.
