Que savons-nous de la limboconjonctivite endémique des tropiques ? Et quel rapport avec les parasites intestinaux ?

Abstract

Resume De l’hypothese etiologique parasitaire intestinale de la limboconjonctivite endemique des tropiques (LCET), nous avons mene une etude analytique de type cas temoins sur des enfants atteints de LCET, consultes au service d’ophtalmologie de l’hopital Laquintinie de Douala au cours de la periode du 2 janvier au 30 avril 2015. Resultats Nous avons repertorie 64 cas de LCET sur 550 enfants consultes soit une prevalence hospitaliere de 11,6 % ; treize cas ne remplissant pas les criteres d’inclusion ont ete exclus de l’effectif et 51 cas ont ete retenus, soit 31 garcons (60,8 %) et 20 filles (39,2 %). Pour les temoins, nous avons retenu 28 garcons (54,9 %) et 23 filles (45,1 %). La prevalence de la LCET chez les garcons etait de 12,1 % et chez les filles elle etait de 7,1 %. Le stade II de la LCET etait le plus frequent (29 cas ; 56,9 %) ainsi que la forme mixte (31 cas, 60,8 %). La frequence des parasites intestinaux etait de 14 cas (27,5 %) dans le groupe de LCET et de 6 cas (11,8 %) dans le groupe des temoins (p = 0,08). Antamoeba histolytica dans sa forme kystique etait le parasite intestinal le plus frequent dans les deux groupes. Le taux moyen des IgE seriques totales chez les cas etait de 81,2 UI/ml et chez les temoins, il etait de 15,7 UI/ml (p = 0,001). Conclusion Il n’existerait pas de rapport de cause a effet entre la presence des parasites intestinaux et la survenue d’une crise de LCET.
