Abstract

Earthbag building is constructed by piling up the earthbag-block filled with the local sand. That has the following benefits. No 1: Can be constructed anywhere, provided there is soil. No2: It is an easy-to-learn construction technology. No3: It provides a strong and solid shelter that is earthquake proof, fire proof and bullet-proof. No4: There is plenty of insulation owing to the thick walls. No5: The interior is a womb-like space, which in itself has a certain healing effect. The author has been engaged in designing and constructing earthbag buildings in various districts for ten years. This report is a summary of his practice of earthbag-construction. It is aimed to sketch a future of architecture based on the consideration through his practice.
