Spatial impacts of hot-house cultivation in Kumluca

Abstract

ABSTRACT SPATIAL IMPACTS OF HOT-HOUSE CULTIVATION IN KUMLUCA Kartal, Filiz M.S., Department of Regional Planning Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Numan Tuna June 1995, 88 pages The aim of this study is to discover the spatial implications of hot-house cultivation in Kumluca. The organizing principles of the rural settlement and the changing dynamics of the urban growth are identified with reference to the functional organization of production process. It is revealed that a dispersed rural settlement pattern has been evolved in the Kumluca Plain as a result of technical and organizational changes in hot-house cultivation. The most important problem related with the settlement pattern is the provision of infrastructure and services. The task of planner, under these circumstances, is to develop effective planning tools to overcome the problems of forthcoming as well as of present spatial organization.
