Taking as a starting point a fundamental hypothesis that explores the possibility of considering the urban rurality as a platform for the experimentation of a new model of sustainability, this paper presents a critical analysis of a recent North-Italian rurban experience. This scientific goal will be pursued through the assessment of a pilot project carried out at the territorial level and of strategic action plans drawn by the local authorities of the Provincia of Milan and developed within the context of the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano. These experiences are examined, on the one hand, in terms of their interscalar socio-political impacts both at local and territorial scales, and on the other hand, of the increasing conceptual gap existing between the local sustainable activities and contemporary political discourse built on the principles of sustainable development.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the importance of bacterial compartment in the functioning of the natural aquatic eco¬systems has been demonstrated, methods were developed in order to estimate bacterial biomass and activity. The goal of the present paper is to make a rapid review of the diffe¬rent methods presented in the literature. Advantages and problems of the application of each method in the field of aquatic bacterial ecology are discussed. The various possibilities of bacterial abundance and biomass determination are first presented, thus the diffe¬rent ways to investigate metabolic activity of individual bacteria are described and, final/y, the measurements of the global bacterial activity are discussed. ; info:eu-repo/semantics/published

From WDI data over the period from 1970 to 2018, we estimated the Environmental Kuznets curve (CKE) in panel by the within estimator, based on the one-way fixed effect method. The results indicate that the CKE is not validated, but that there is a linear and positive relationship between economic growth and pollution. As a measure of robustness, we proceed to another estimation of our model using the Two-Way fixed effects method. The results confirm once again the non-validation of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) for our panel, and confirm the existence of a linear and positive relationshipbetween economic growth and pollution. We have announced to these countries to set up public policies aimed at industrialization and environmental protection.

Ostrom) and the shared concern not to destroy the resource from which all depend. Their disappearance is the result of an eradication by the collusion of the freedom of enterprise of the owners, and the sovereignty of the owner in the square, the State. If the current resurgence of the commons can herald an urgent and needed change of behaviour it is because of the renewed sense of sustainability it expresses at the time of the threats linked to climate change. This resurgence nevertheless frontally collides with the current law which has inherited from their eradication. In this article the authors explore the obstacles against articulating the current applicable law and what is demanded by the life of the commons. Since the commons necessarily generate the development of local and vernacular law, a fundamental tension with the principle of the rule of law comes to light.

These issues haunt the developing world Parties to the multilateral environmental agreements, who are trying hard to implement policies and plans within their national jurisdictions. These policies are required to be linked with overall economic growth and development objectives. With limited technical workforce and financial capacity, the developing world is facing a grave challenge of attaining inclusive growth and sustainable development, besides developing resilience to climate change. A parallel stream of activities for these three objectives is not the solution for poor countries. Some countries are already on the path of establishing linkages among climate change, development and sustainability activities. However, while grappling with these issues, most are still stuck at different levels of governance. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have timelines until 2030. At least 60% of the NDCs, mostly those of the developing countries, contain an adaptation component which is closely linked to sustainable development. Convergence of NDC and SDG goals at the national level will assist in financing NDCs through SDG funds for achieving both mitigation and adaptation goals. The paper discusses barriers to good governance around these issues and opportunities available to link them at the national level. This includes improvement of knowledge base, and mainstreaming finance for both, adaptation and sustainable development, besides serving national needs. The trick is to include adaptation and sustainability into the developmental planning.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.eudescription Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article , Other literature type 2020Publisher:Journal d’Economie, de Management, d’Environnement et de Droit Authors: Himangana Gupta;Climate change, adaptation and sustainable development are inextricably linked. Journal d’Economie, de Management, d’Environnement et de Droit, Vol 3, No 1 (2020)
