Insurance pricing is a crucial factor restricting the market share of environment pollution liability insurance, from the perspective of the Black–Scholes pricing model, which in turn has influenced the solvency of insurance companies in China. Firstly, this study analyzes the problems existing in compulsory liability insurance for environmental pollution in China. It proceeds with analyzing the price of compulsory environmental pollution liability insurance using the Black–Scholes pricing model, and derives a high premium insurance rate of 2.44%. Moreover, it performs a multivariate regression analysis using the asset and liability data, taken from the annual report, to identify three key factors affecting the solvency adequacy ratio, namely, capital debt ratio, reflecting the company asset structure; net interest rate on assets, reflecting the asset scale with actual solvency; and claim ratio, reflecting the business quality. Based on the results of regression analysis and robustness test for the China Insurance Clauses (CIC) company, People’s Insurance Company of China (PICC), and Asia-Pacific Property & Casualty Insurance (API) company, it is shown that the effect of total asset, total debt, capital debt ratio, claim ratio, and net interest rate on assets on the solvency adequacy ratio is significant, with respect to the size of the coefficients. Based on the Black–Scholes pricing model found in the previous cycle of liability insurance, and keeping in view the existing problems of environmental pollution liability insurance expenditure, this paper presents suggestions that are conducive to improving the solvency of insurance companies in China.

In the light of The Paris Agreement (COP 21), global leaders reached a consensus to curtail the increase in global temperature up to 2.0 °C ideally 1.5 °C pre-industrial level. Likewise, it has become a pathway to accomplish long-term goals of achieving carbon neutrality. In this regard, this paper aims to explore the role of green process innovation and environmental orientation toward environmental performance for achieving the long-term goal of carbon neutrality. In addition, this paper also discovers a mediating role of green competitive advantage in said context. Using data from a survey among managers of equipment manufacturing sector, the study employed structural equation modeling technique and found that green process innovation, environmental orientation and green competitive advantage significantly influence environmental performance. Subsequently, mediation analysis indicated that green competitive advantage partially mediates the relation from green process innovation and environmental orientation to environmental performance. In light of the carbon neutrality targets, the study highlight that improving environmental performance through green process innovation and environmental orientation can be a way-forward for manufacturing sector to play its role to achieve carbon neutrality. The study concludes with theoretical and practical implications.

The generators are part of an experimental platform at the Technical University of Sofia and operate in real weather conditions. The modeling of the PV modules is based on the Durisch's model using two approaches. The comparison of the models with measured data shows good agreement. We observe that a limited number of characteristic days can be used for the modeling of the PV panels. The inverter's model is based on the manufacturer data. The comparison with the measured data shows good coincidence. Finally the combination of modules' and inverter models is compared with experimental data and we observe a good level of overlap.

In order to take full advantage of distributed generators, an evolution of the classical power system organization and management is also necessary. An aggregator of a residential urban electrical network can be considered by the distribution system operator as a stakeholder, which is able to control a cluster of local generators and loads with technical constraints for the connection with the remaining distribution grid and commercial contracts with outer electrical producers. This paper is focused on the design of the microgrid central energy management system which relies on a day-ahead operational planning and an online adjustment procedure during the operation. A dynamic programming-based algorithm is derived to solve the unit commitment problem with a multiobjective function in order to reduce the economic cost and CO 2 equivalent emissions. The proposed energy management system is implemented into a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and tested by using a hardware-in-the-loop simulation of the urban network. Economic and environmental gains are evaluated.

A gradual unification of the energy markets of different countries is currently going on within a free market: the configuration of networks has been changing, additional relations appear, new energy companies and unions are formed, a sector of renewable sources is rapidly developing with its characteristic distributed generation (decentralization), therefore, the most urgent matter of finding and creating new methods and algorithms for calculation and analysis of complex EPS. In particular, it concerns the issue of problem solving of large-scale power systems with a detailed accounting of basic elements of the system. All ongoing and planned changes both directly and indirectly affect the network configuration, which in its turn leads to the appearance of additional generation and load nodes and, consequently, it requires careful economic and technical computations, in particular, the static stability assessment of the power system.

A gradual unification of the energy markets of different countries is currently going on within a free market: the configuration of networks has been changing, additional relations appear, new energy companies and unions are formed, a sector of renewable sources is rapidly developing with its characteristic distributed generation (decentralization), therefore, the most urgent matter of finding and creating new methods and algorithms for calculation and analysis of complex EPS. In particular, it concerns the issue of problem solving of large-scale power systems with a detailed accounting of basic elements of the system. All ongoing and planned changes both directly and indirectly affect the network configuration, which in its turn leads to the appearance of additional generation and load nodes and, consequently, it requires careful economic and technical computations, in particular, the static stability assessment of the power system.

The main purpose of this analysis is to provide the response of monitored plant parameters to identify symptoms available to the operators and define timing for reaching the following stages during the development of processes in the reactor system: ○ Reaching the saturated temperature at the outlet of the assembly; ○ Beginning of reactor core uncovery; ○ Heating up of fuel; ○ Defining the transition time between EOPs and SAMG at temperature of 923 K; ○ Restoring of water level in the reactor; ○ Defining the CSF “Core cooling” status and the time of its loss. The results of the thermal–hydraulic analyses have been used to assist KzNPP specialists in analytical validation of EOPs at low power and cold condition. The principal acceptance criteria for EOPs are averting the onset of core damage. The RELAP5/MOD3.2 computer code has been used in performing the analyses in a VVER-1000 nuclear power plant (NPP) model. Air pollution, especially in large cities around the world, is associated with serious problems both with people’s health and the environment. Over the past few years, there has been a particularly intensive demand for alternatives to fossil fuels, because when they are burned, substances that pollute the environment are released. In addition to the smoke from fuels burned for heating and harmful emissions that industrial installations release, the exhaust emissions of vehicles create a large share of the fossil fuel pollution. Alternative fuels, known as non-conventional and advanced fuels, are derived from resources other than fossil fuels. Because alcoholic fuels have several physical and propellant properties similar to those of gasoline, they can be considered as one of the alternative fuels. Alcoholic fuels or alcohol-blended fuels may be used in gasoline engines to reduce exhaust emissions. This study aimed to develop a gasoline engine model to predict the influence of different types of alcohol-blended fuels on performance and emissions. For the purpose of this study, the AVL Boost software was used to analyse characteristics of the gasoline engine when operating with different mixtures of ethanol, methanol, butanol, and gasoline (by volume). Results obtained from different fuel blends showed that when alcohol blends were used, brake power decreased and the brake specific fuel consumption increased compared to when using gasoline, and CO and HC concentrations decreased as the fuel blends percentage increased.

Natural gas is cheaper than fuel on an energy basis, making it an alternative ship fuel which leads to a reduced operating cost and clean gas environmental conditions. The current study analyses the retrofit of an ageing multi-purpose ship to use liquefied natural gas as a primary ship fuel in the context of a short-ship sea operation. The objective is to transform an existing commercial ageing ship propulsion system into a green energy propulsion one and to analyse the economic feasibility considering the high volatility and increased LNG price. Four scenarios were analysed based on the net present value representing Denying, Disinterested, Good and Acceptable financial cash outflow. It was concluded that in the present economic instability and price of LNG fuel and CO2 taxes, the ship owner needs to rely on the long-term contract of buying LNG fuel to implement measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep good benefits in shipping.

Insurance pricing is a crucial factor restricting the market share of environment pollution liability insurance, from the perspective of the Black–Scholes pricing model, which in turn has influenced the solvency of insurance companies in China. Firstly, this study analyzes the problems existing in compulsory liability insurance for environmental pollution in China. It proceeds with analyzing the price of compulsory environmental pollution liability insurance using the Black–Scholes pricing model, and derives a high premium insurance rate of 2.44%. Moreover, it performs a multivariate regression analysis using the asset and liability data, taken from the annual report, to identify three key factors affecting the solvency adequacy ratio, namely, capital debt ratio, reflecting the company asset structure; net interest rate on assets, reflecting the asset scale with actual solvency; and claim ratio, reflecting the business quality. Based on the results of regression analysis and robustness test for the China Insurance Clauses (CIC) company, People’s Insurance Company of China (PICC), and Asia-Pacific Property & Casualty Insurance (API) company, it is shown that the effect of total asset, total debt, capital debt ratio, claim ratio, and net interest rate on assets on the solvency adequacy ratio is significant, with respect to the size of the coefficients. Based on the Black–Scholes pricing model found in the previous cycle of liability insurance, and keeping in view the existing problems of environmental pollution liability insurance expenditure, this paper presents suggestions that are conducive to improving the solvency of insurance companies in China.

In the light of The Paris Agreement (COP 21), global leaders reached a consensus to curtail the increase in global temperature up to 2.0 °C ideally 1.5 °C pre-industrial level. Likewise, it has become a pathway to accomplish long-term goals of achieving carbon neutrality. In this regard, this paper aims to explore the role of green process innovation and environmental orientation toward environmental performance for achieving the long-term goal of carbon neutrality. In addition, this paper also discovers a mediating role of green competitive advantage in said context. Using data from a survey among managers of equipment manufacturing sector, the study employed structural equation modeling technique and found that green process innovation, environmental orientation and green competitive advantage significantly influence environmental performance. Subsequently, mediation analysis indicated that green competitive advantage partially mediates the relation from green process innovation and environmental orientation to environmental performance. In light of the carbon neutrality targets, the study highlight that improving environmental performance through green process innovation and environmental orientation can be a way-forward for manufacturing sector to play its role to achieve carbon neutrality. The study concludes with theoretical and practical implications.

The generators are part of an experimental platform at the Technical University of Sofia and operate in real weather conditions. The modeling of the PV modules is based on the Durisch's model using two approaches. The comparison of the models with measured data shows good agreement. We observe that a limited number of characteristic days can be used for the modeling of the PV panels. The inverter's model is based on the manufacturer data. The comparison with the measured data shows good coincidence. Finally the combination of modules' and inverter models is compared with experimental data and we observe a good level of overlap.

In order to take full advantage of distributed generators, an evolution of the classical power system organization and management is also necessary. An aggregator of a residential urban electrical network can be considered by the distribution system operator as a stakeholder, which is able to control a cluster of local generators and loads with technical constraints for the connection with the remaining distribution grid and commercial contracts with outer electrical producers. This paper is focused on the design of the microgrid central energy management system which relies on a day-ahead operational planning and an online adjustment procedure during the operation. A dynamic programming-based algorithm is derived to solve the unit commitment problem with a multiobjective function in order to reduce the economic cost and CO 2 equivalent emissions. The proposed energy management system is implemented into a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and tested by using a hardware-in-the-loop simulation of the urban network. Economic and environmental gains are evaluated.

In order to take full advantage of distributed generators, an evolution of the classical power system organization and management is also necessary. An aggregator of a residential urban electrical network can be considered by the distribution system operator as a stakeholder, which is able to control a cluster of local generators and loads with technical constraints for the connection with the remaining distribution grid and commercial contracts with outer electrical producers. This paper is focused on the design of the microgrid central energy management system which relies on a day-ahead operational planning and an online adjustment procedure during the operation. A dynamic programming-based algorithm is derived to solve the unit commitment problem with a multiobjective function in order to reduce the economic cost and CO 2 equivalent emissions. The proposed energy management system is implemented into a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and tested by using a hardware-in-the-loop simulation of the urban network. Economic and environmental gains are evaluated.

The main purpose of this analysis is to provide the response of monitored plant parameters to identify symptoms available to the operators and define timing for reaching the following stages during the development of processes in the reactor system: ○ Reaching the saturated temperature at the outlet of the assembly; ○ Beginning of reactor core uncovery; ○ Heating up of fuel; ○ Defining the transition time between EOPs and SAMG at temperature of 923 K; ○ Restoring of water level in the reactor; ○ Defining the CSF “Core cooling” status and the time of its loss. The results of the thermal–hydraulic analyses have been used to assist KzNPP specialists in analytical validation of EOPs at low power and cold condition. The principal acceptance criteria for EOPs are averting the onset of core damage. The RELAP5/MOD3.2 computer code has been used in performing the analyses in a VVER-1000 nuclear power plant (NPP) model. A model of VVER-1000 based on Unit 6 of KzNPP has been developed for the systems thermal–hydraulics code RELAP5/MOD3.2 at the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (INRNE – BAS), Sofia. Air pollution, especially in large cities around the world, is associated with serious problems both with people’s health and the environment. Over the past few years, there has been a particularly intensive demand for alternatives to fossil fuels, because when they are burned, substances that pollute the environment are released. In addition to the smoke from fuels burned for heating and harmful emissions that industrial installations release, the exhaust emissions of vehicles create a large share of the fossil fuel pollution. Alternative fuels, known as non-conventional and advanced fuels, are derived from resources other than fossil fuels. Because alcoholic fuels have several physical and propellant properties similar to those of gasoline, they can be considered as one of the alternative fuels. Alcoholic fuels or alcohol-blended fuels may be used in gasoline engines to reduce exhaust emissions. This study aimed to develop a gasoline engine model to predict the influence of different types of alcohol-blended fuels on performance and emissions. For the purpose of this study, the AVL Boost software was used to analyse characteristics of the gasoline engine when operating with different mixtures of ethanol, methanol, butanol, and gasoline (by volume). Results obtained from different fuel blends showed that when alcohol blends were used, brake power decreased and the brake specific fuel consumption increased compared to when using gasoline, and CO and HC concentrations decreased as the fuel blends percentage increased.

Natural gas is cheaper than fuel on an energy basis, making it an alternative ship fuel which leads to a reduced operating cost and clean gas environmental conditions. The current study analyses the retrofit of an ageing multi-purpose ship to use liquefied natural gas as a primary ship fuel in the context of a short-ship sea operation. The objective is to transform an existing commercial ageing ship propulsion system into a green energy propulsion one and to analyse the economic feasibility considering the high volatility and increased LNG price. Four scenarios were analysed based on the net present value representing Denying, Disinterested, Good and Acceptable financial cash outflow. It was concluded that in the present economic instability and price of LNG fuel and CO2 taxes, the ship owner needs to rely on the long-term contract of buying LNG fuel to implement measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep good benefits in shipping.

The current study analyses the retrofit of an ageing multi-purpose ship to use liquefied natural gas as a primary ship fuel in the context of a short-ship sea operation. The objective is to transform an existing commercial ageing ship propulsion system into a green energy propulsion one and to analyse the economic feasibility considering the high volatility and increased LNG price. Four scenarios were analysed based on the net present value representing Denying, Disinterested, Good and Acceptable financial cash outflow. It was concluded that in the present economic instability and price of LNG fuel and CO2 taxes, the ship owner needs to rely on the long-term contract of buying LNG fuel to implement measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and keep good benefits in shipping.

Transformation of the piston linear movement to rotational movement is done by a swinging board, a baseboard and a crankshaft. The paper describes the trajectory and acceleration of an observed point on the swinging board in all three planes as well as the kinematics of the piston movement. The principle of the unconventional mechanism FIK1 is protected by patents No. 283742 and No. 283743. A mathematical model of the mechanism and some significant results are presented.
