    La prévalence de l’obésité infantile est en augmentation permanente et nécessite une prise en charge efficace. OBJECTIF: Analyser l’évolution des principaux paramètres anthropométriques et du métabolisme de base (MB) d’adolescents obèses pendant et après deux types de prise en charge : intensive en institution ou conventionnelle à domicile. SUJETS ET METHODES: Vingt-six adolescents âgés de 12 à 16 ans (Z-score de l’IMC = 4,72) ont suivi en institution (groupe I) un programme de réduction pondérale de neuf mois comprenant une restriction énergétique modérée et une activité physique régulière. Un deuxième groupe de 39 sujets de même âge (Z-score de l’IMC = 2,83) a bénéficié d’un suivi médical et diététique bimestriel au domicile des parents (groupe E). Les mesures de composition corporelle (impédancemétrie) et du MB (calorimétrie indirecte) ont été réalisées avant le début (M0), après quatre mois (M4) et neuf mois (M9) de prise en charge, puis quatre mois (M13) et 16 mois (M25) plus tard. RESULTATS: Deux et quatre des 26 adolescents du groupe I n’ont pas participé respectivement aux mesures aux temps M13 et M25. À M0, l’âge, le poids, la masse maigre (MM) et le MB des adolescents du groupe I étaient supérieurs à ceux des adolescents du groupe E, mais le stade pubertaire et le pourcentage de masse grasse (MG) n’étaient pas significativement différents entre les deux groupes. À M9, les adolescents du groupe I présentaient des diminutions du poids et de MG de 19 et 37 %, respectivement (p < 0,001), mais pas de variation significative de la MM. Le MB a diminué entre M0 et M4, tant en valeur absolue (–6,7 %, p < 0,001) qu’après ajustement pour les différences de MM (–5,8 %, p < 0,001) et la différence s’est maintenue jusqu’à M9. Entre M9 et M13, le poids corporel et le Z-score de l’IMC des adolescents du groupe I n’ont pas varié significativement chez 12 adolescents, mais ils ont augmenté significativement chez dix adolescents (+ 9,7 et 14,8 %, respectivement, p < 0,001) ; en revanche, le MB n’a pas varié significativement pour l’ensemble des adolescents. Entre M13 et M25, le poids corporel, la MG, la MM et le MB ont augmenté significativement pour l’ensemble des adolescents (+ 13 %, + 34 %, + 6 % et + 5 %, respectivement, p < 0,001). Dix-neuf des 39 adolescents du groupe E ont abandonné progressivement la prise en charge. Pour la plupart d’entre eux le poids et le Z-score de l’IMC avaient augmenté. En revanche, les 20 adolescents du groupe E qui ont suivi la prise en charge pendant les 25 mois n’ont pas présenté de variations significatives de leur IMC et du MB ajusté pour les différences de MM. CONCLUSION: La prise en charge en institution a été très efficace à court terme. Cependant, la diminution du MB observée au cours du programme de réduction pondérale a favorisé la reprise de poids des adolescents post-obèses qui n’ont pas maintenu les habitudes de vie acquises au cours de la période de prise en charge. La moitié des adolescents qui ont bénéficié d’une prise en charge à domicile et ont participé pendant les 25 mois au suivi hygiénodiététique ont stabilisé le Z-score de leur IMC. The prevalence of obesity in children has increased dramatically during the past decades, and requires efficient care. OBJECTIVES: To determine changes in anthropometric parameters and basal metabolic rate (BMR) in obese adolescents during and after 2 types of weight-reduction programs. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Twenty-six adolescents (group I, Z-score of BMI = 4.72) followed a 9-month-weight reduction program including a moderate energy restriction and regular physical activities in a specialized institution. In addition, 39 adolescents (group E, Z-score of BMI = 2.83) followed at home a 9-month-weight reduction program including medical and dietetic advices. Body composition (by impedancemetry) and BMR (by indirect calorimetry) were assessed before the beginning (M0), 4 months after (M4) and at the end (M9) of the programs, then 4 months (M13) and 16 month (M25) after the end of the weight-reduction programs. RESULTS: Twenty-two adolescents in group I and 20 adolescents in group E completed the study. At M0, age, body weight (BW), fat-free mass (FFM) and BMR of subjects of group I were higher (1.0 year, 36 %, 30 % and 23 %, respectively, P < 0.001), than those of group E. Pubertal stage and percentage of fat mass (FM) were not significantly different between the 2 groups. At M9, adolescents of group I showed significant reductions in BW and FM (-19 and -37 %, respectively, P < 0.001), but not significant differences in FFM. In addition, BMR decreased significantly between M0 and M4, both in absolute value (-6.7%, P < 0.001) and after adjustment for FFM (-5.8%, P < 0.001), and the difference was maintained until M9. Between M9 and M13, BW and Z-score of BMI were maintained in 12 adolescents, but increased (+9.7% and 14.8%, respectively, P < 0.001) in 10 adolescents. However, BMR did not change significantly in all adolescents. Between M13 and M25, BW, FM, FFM and BMR increased significantly (+13%, +34%, +6% et +5%, respectively, P < 0.001). During the 25 month period, adolescents of group E showed significant increases in BW, FFM and BMR (+8%, +14% and +10%, respectively, P < 0.001), and maintained their Z-score and FM. CONCLUSION: The reduction in BMR during the weight-reduction program at the institution could contribute to body weight regain in the post-obese adolescents if they do not maintain the lifestyle habits taught during the weight-reduction period. In other respects, Z-score was stabilized in 51% of domiciled obese adolescents.

    Au milieu des années 1950, Électricité de France, opérateur largement dominant dans la production et la distribution d'énergie sous forme électrique, du fait de l'avenir encore incertain du nucléaire civil, a opté, avec la construction de l''usine marémotrice sur l'estuaire de la Rance, pour une énergie renouvelable d'un type encore inusité à l'échelle industrielle. Cette centrale hydroélectrique, en de nombreux points particulièrement innovante, inaugurée en 1967, sera pourtant la seule de ce type réalisée en France. Elle est toujours en service. A un moment où la question des énergies renouvelables est pour le moins à l'ordre du jour, même si les réalisations restent modestes en termes industriels en France, il nous a semblé intéressant de mobiliser l'histoire d'une réalisation qui a, depuis des lustres, produit ce que nous considérons comme une bifurcation énergétique, dont l'avenir reste largement à construire.

    L'objectif de ce travail a été de comprendre au niveau microscopique, l'organisation du mélange supercritique CO2/éthanol considéré comme un ‘solvant universel' dans le domaine des applications industrielles (fractionnement des polymères). La méthodologie utilisée est basée sur une étude par spectrométrie de vibration (Infrarouge et Raman) et une analyse théorique des résultats expérimentaux en utilisant des méthodes de calculs ab-initio et des approches analytiques. Les corps purs et le mélange CO2/éthanol ont été étudiés. L'analyse du mode de vibration symétrique du CO2 en fonction de la température (28 This work is aimed at the understating of the microscopic organisation of the CO2/ethanol supercritical mixture, considered as an universal solvent in industrial applications (fractionation of polymers).     L'articolo esplora un'ipotesi fondamentale: considerare la ruralità urbana nei termini di "piattaforma di sperimentazione" di un nuovo modello di sostenibilità. L'approccio elaborato si fonda su due fasi complementari: un'analisi critica e una lettura prospettica di un'esperienza "rurbana" nella regione Lombardia. Lo studio focalizza in primo luogo su un progetto pilota del 2006 e, in secondo luogo, sulle successive evoluzioni degli strumenti di pianificazione strategica sviluppati dalla Provincia di Milano nell'ambito del Parco Agricolo Sud. Tali strumenti pianificazione sono analizzati e valutati a partire dalle loro ricadute sul contesto socio-politico in cui il Parco si iscrive e attraverso una revisione critica della nozione di "sostenibilità". Particolare importanza è accordata alla valutazione della dimensione sociale delle politiche energetiche adottate nel contesto di studio.

    La filière laitière occupe une place importante à l’échelle mondiale, en termes de contribution à l’occupation des surfaces agricoles, aux emplois et à la création de richesse. La production laitière, qui résulte de modèles productifs très variés d’un pays à l’autre et qui relève d’espèces animales aux caractéristiques différentes, a considérablement augmenté au cours des dernières décennies. Le développement futur de la production laitière est soumis à différentes contraintes qui interrogent sur les voies à privilégier dans une optique de durabilité. Dans ce cadre, la première partie de cet article présente la dynamique du secteur laitier, en termes de consommation et de production, et ce, pour différentes grandes zones géographiques ; la seconde traite de la durabilité du secteur laitier, principalement dans les pays en développement, au travers d’une sélection de trois thèmes : la dimension sociale (souvent oubliée) et la nécessité d’intégrer les questions de genre ; l’usage durable des ressources hydriques en l’illustrant au travers de deux situations contrastées, celle du Maroc et de l’Inde ; la biodiversité et l’importance de la contribution des laits non bovins au développement local. La troisième partie rappelle que les échanges internationaux permettent, pour de nombreux pays déficitaires en lait, de satisfaire la demande intérieure. The dairy sector occupies an important place worldwide, in terms of contribution to agricultural land use, jobs and wealth creation. Dairy production results from varied production models from one country to another and is based on animal species with different characteristics. It has increased dramatically in recent decades. The future development of milk production is subject to various constraints that question the best ways of achieving sustainability. In this context, the first part of this article presents the dynamics of the dairy sector in terms of consumption and production in various major geographical areas. The second part deals with the sustainability of the dairy sector, mainly in developing countries, through a selection of three themes: i- the social dimension (often forgotten) and the need to mainstream gender issues; ii- the sustainable use of water resources in Morocco and India, chosen to illustrate two contrasting situations; iii- biodiversity and the essential contribution of non-bovine milks to local development. The third part recalls that international trade exchanges make it possible for many countries with a deficit in milk to meet domestic demand.

    En vue de comprendre et prévoir les modes de dispersion des polluants émis dans les zones urbanisées, des simulations numériques sont menées à haute résolution. L'objectif est de reproduire les caractéristiques atmosphériques au-dessus d'un milieu complexe urbanisé. On a développé une méthode précise de mise en œuvre des simulations numériques de l'atmosphère urbaine à haute résolution spatiale en se basant sur trois outils complémentaires, optimisés sur l'exemple de Marseille : le modèle atmosphérique SUBMESO, en mode SGE (simulation des grandes échelles), le modèle de sol pour les échelles sub-meso urbanisé SM2-U, le logiciel de cartographie des caractéristiques morphologiques de la canopée urbaine DFMap. Pour pouvoir simuler l'atmosphère de villes côtières, on a développé et validé une méthode de calcul des flux à l'interface mer – atmosphère adaptée aux données de température disponibles par mesure ou télédétection. Une étude de sensibilité est ensuite menée sur une configuration académique de ville dans son environnement rural et/ou côtier, à l'aide de douze simulations permettant d'évaluer les rétroactions entre le modèle de sol et le modèle atmosphérique. Cinq autres simulations sont effectuées sur la région marseillaise au cours d'une période d'observation intensive de la campagne expérimentale CLU – ESCOMPTE, avec trois grilles emboîtées, permettant la première validation du couple SUBMESO – SM2-U, l'analyse des interactions entre la ville, les systèmes de brise et la topographie, et aussi l'étude des champs turbulents à très haute résolution. La méthode développée peut être utilisée pour l'étude de la qualité de l'air d'autres agglomérations. In view of understanding and forecasting pollutant dispersion in urban areas, high resolution numerical simulations are performed. The aim is to reproduce atmospheric characteristics above complex urbanised site. An accurate method is developed to implement numerical simulations of the urban atmosphere based on three complementary tools, optimized on Marseille agglomeration example: the atmospheric Large Eddy Simulation model SUBMESO and the soil model for sub-meso scales, urban, SM2-U, and the DFMap software to map the morphological characteristics of urban fabrics. In order to simulate the atmosphere of coastal cities, a method to compute the fluxes at the sea - atmosphere interface is developing developed and validated. A sensitivity study is then carried on an academic configuration of a city and its rural and/or coastal environment, based on twelve simulations, in order to evaluate the retroactions of the soil and atmospheric models. Five other simulations of the Marseille area are performed with three nested grids during an intense observation period of the UBL – ESCOMPTE experimental campaign, allowing the first validation of the SUBMESO – SM2-U couple, an analysis of the interactions between the city, the breeze systems and the topography, and also very high resolution study of turbulent parameters. This method may be used to study the air quality of other urban areas.

    European Energy Policy is changing and multifold. It would be better to say that EU had six very different policies for energy since 1980. I will look deeper at only four of them: the single energy market, and three successive programs of European energy transition. Each of these four policies is or has been a genuine challenge, as European Commission does not have a strong executive power, and a detailed enough field-administration machinery to implement such policies. All European successes, with no equivalent in today’s world, are coming from deep and patient compromises between the weak EU layer of decision-making and the decisive national implementation resources.

    Les progrès réalisés durant ces dernières années dans le domaine de la microélectronique et notamment vis-à-vis de l'augmentation exponentielle de la densité d'intégration des composants et des systèmes a participé activement à l'apparition et au développement de systèmes portables communicants de plus en plus performants et polyvalents. La R&D dans les technologies de stockage d'énergie n'a pas suivi cette tendance d'évolution très rapide ; ce qui constitue un handicap majeur dans les évolutions futures des systèmes portables. La transmission d'énergie sans fils sur des distances considérables (plusieurs dizaines de mètres) grâce aux microondes constitue une solution très prometteuse pour pallier aux problèmes d'autonomie dans le cas des systèmes sans fils communicants. De plus, du fait de l'omniprésence des ondes électromagnétiques dans notre environnement avec des niveaux plus ou moins importants, la récupération et l'exploitation de cette énergie libre est également possible. La rectenna (Rectifying Antenna) est le dispositif permettant de capter et de convertir une onde électromagnétique en une tension continue. Plusieurs travaux de thèse axés sur l'étude et l'optimisation de la rectenna ont été réalisés au sein du laboratoire. Ces travaux avaient montré que pour des faibles niveaux de champs les tensions délivrées par la rectenna sont généralement très faibles et inexploitables. Aussi, comme la majorité des micro-sources d'énergie et à cause de son impédance interne, les performances de la rectenna dépendent fortement de sa charge de sortie. Ainsi, le développement d'un système d'interfaçage de la rectenna est nécessaire afin de pallier ces manquements inhérents du convertisseur RF/DC. Ce genre de système d'interfaçage est généralement absent dans la littérature à cause des faibles niveaux de puissance exploités. Par conséquent, la rectenna est très souvent utilisée tel quelle ; ce qui limite fortement le champ applicatif. Dans ce projet de recherche, un système de gestion énergétique de la rectenna complètement autonome a été conçu, développé et optimisé afin de garantir les performances optimales de la rectenna quelques soient les fluctuations de la puissance d'entrée et celles de la charge de sortie. Le circuit d'interfaçage permet également de fournir à la charge des niveaux de tension utilisables. Le système réalisé est basé tout d'abord sur l'utilisation d'un convertisseur DC/DC résonant pouvant fonctionner d'une manière complètement autonome à partir de niveaux très bas de la tension et de la puissance de la source. Ce convertisseur permet donc de garantir l'autonomie du système en éliminant la nécessité d'une source d'énergie auxiliaire. A cause de ses faibles performances énergétiques, ce convertisseur ne sera utilisé que durant la phase de démarrage. L'efficacité du système en termes de rendement énergétique et d'adaptation d'impédance est garantie grâce à l'utilisation d'un convertisseur Flyback fonctionnant dans son régime de conduction discontinu. Ainsi, une adaptation d'impédance très efficace est réalisée entre la rectenna et la charge de sortie. Ce convertisseur principal fonctionnera durant le régime permanent. Les deux convertisseurs ont été optimisés pour des niveaux de tension et de puissance aussi bas que quelques centaines de mV et quelques μW respectivement. Des mesures expérimentales réalisées sur plusieurs prototypes ont démontré le bon fonctionnement et les excellentes performances prédites par la procédure de conception ; ce qui nous permet de valider notre approche. De plus, les performances obtenues se distinguent parfaitement vis-à-vis de l'état de l'art. Enfin, en fonction de l'application désirée, plusieurs synoptiques d'association des deux structures sont proposés. Ceci inclut également la gestion énergétique de la charge de sortie. Latest advancements in microelectronic technologies and especially with the exponential increase of components and devices integration density have yield novel high technology and polyvalent portable systems. Such polyvalent communication devices need more and more available energy. Nonetheless, research in energy storage technology did not evolve with a similar speed. This constitutes a substantial handicap for the future evolution of portable devices. Wireless energy transfer through large distances such as tens of meters using microwaves is a very promising solution in order to deal with the autonomy problem in portable devices. In addition, since electromagnetic waves are ubiquitous in our environment, harvesting and using this free and available energy is also possible. Rectenna (Rectifying Antenna) is the device that allows to collect and to convert an electromagnetic wave into DC power. Several thesis research projects focusing on studying and optimizing the rectenna was carried-out into the Ampere laboratory. It has been shown that for a low level of the electromagnetic field the voltage provided by the rectenna is ultra-low and thus impractical. Further, as it is the case for the majority of energy harvesting micro-sources, the performances of the rectenna depend highly with the loading conditions. So, the development of an interfacing circuit for the rectenna is a necessary task in order to relieve the RF/DC converter inherent flaws. As it is pointed out into the literature, such power management circuit is in most cases absent due to the ultra-low power levels. In most cases, the rectenna is used as it; which reduces strongly the applications area. Within this research project, an ultra-low power and fully-autonomous power management system dedicated to rectennas was developed and optimized. It allows to guarantee highest performances of the rectenna whatever are the fluctuation of the input power level and the output load conditions. In addition, this power management system allows to provide a conventional voltage level to the load. The first part of the developed system is composed by a resonant DC/DC converter which plays the role of start-up circuit. In this case, no external energy source is required even with low voltage and ultra-low power source conditions. Because of its general poor energetic performances, this resonant converter will be used only during the start-up phase. The second part of the developed system is composed by a Flyback converter operating in its discontinuous conduction mode. Using this mode, the converter realizes static and very effective impedance matching with the rectenna in order to extract the maximum available power whatever are the input and the output conditions. Furthermore, thanks to the optimization procedure, the converter shows excellent efficiency performances even for μW power levels based on a discrete demonstrator. Finally, the converter provides conventional voltage levels allowing to power standard electronics. Experimental tests based on discrete prototypes for the both converters show distinguish results for the start-up voltage, the impedance matching effectiveness and the efficiency as regard to the state of the art. 6

    La prévalence de l’obésité infantile est en augmentation permanente et nécessite une prise en charge efficace. OBJECTIF: Analyser l’évolution des principaux paramètres anthropométriques et du métabolisme de base (MB) d’adolescents obèses pendant et après deux types de prise en charge : intensive en institution ou conventionnelle à domicile. SUJETS ET METHODES: Vingt-six adolescents âgés de 12 à 16 ans (Z-score de l’IMC = 4,72) ont suivi en institution (groupe I) un programme de réduction pondérale de neuf mois comprenant une restriction énergétique modérée et une activité physique régulière. Un deuxième groupe de 39 sujets de même âge (Z-score de l’IMC = 2,83) a bénéficié d’un suivi médical et diététique bimestriel au domicile des parents (groupe E). Les mesures de composition corporelle (impédancemétrie) et du MB (calorimétrie indirecte) ont été réalisées avant le début (M0), après quatre mois (M4) et neuf mois (M9) de prise en charge, puis quatre mois (M13) et 16 mois (M25) plus tard. RESULTATS: Deux et quatre des 26 adolescents du groupe I n’ont pas participé respectivement aux mesures aux temps M13 et M25. À M0, l’âge, le poids, la masse maigre (MM) et le MB des adolescents du groupe I étaient supérieurs à ceux des adolescents du groupe E, mais le stade pubertaire et le pourcentage de masse grasse (MG) n’étaient pas significativement différents entre les deux groupes. À M9, les adolescents du groupe I présentaient des diminutions du poids et de MG de 19 et 37 %, respectivement (p < 0,001), mais pas de variation significative de la MM. Le MB a diminué entre M0 et M4, tant en valeur absolue (–6,7 %, p < 0,001) qu’après ajustement pour les différences de MM (–5,8 %, p < 0,001) et la différence s’est maintenue jusqu’à M9. Entre M9 et M13, le poids corporel et le Z-score de l’IMC des adolescents du groupe I n’ont pas varié significativement chez 12 adolescents, mais ils ont augmenté significativement chez dix adolescents (+ 9,7 et 14,8 %, respectivement, p < 0,001) ; en revanche, le MB n’a pas varié significativement pour l’ensemble des adolescents. Entre M13 et M25, le poids corporel, la MG, la MM et le MB ont augmenté significativement pour l’ensemble des adolescents (+ 13 %, + 34 %, + 6 % et + 5 %, respectivement, p < 0,001). Dix-neuf des 39 adolescents du groupe E ont abandonné progressivement la prise en charge. Pour la plupart d’entre eux le poids et le Z-score de l’IMC avaient augmenté. En revanche, les 20 adolescents du groupe E qui ont suivi la prise en charge pendant les 25 mois n’ont pas présenté de variations significatives de leur IMC et du MB ajusté pour les différences de MM. CONCLUSION: La prise en charge en institution a été très efficace à court terme. Cependant, la diminution du MB observée au cours du programme de réduction pondérale a favorisé la reprise de poids des adolescents post-obèses qui n’ont pas maintenu les habitudes de vie acquises au cours de la période de prise en charge. La moitié des adolescents qui ont bénéficié d’une prise en charge à domicile et ont participé pendant les 25 mois au suivi hygiénodiététique ont stabilisé le Z-score de leur IMC. The prevalence of obesity in children has increased dramatically during the past decades, and requires efficient care. OBJECTIVES: To determine changes in anthropometric parameters and basal metabolic rate (BMR) in obese adolescents during and after 2 types of weight-reduction programs. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Twenty-six adolescents (group I, Z-score of BMI = 4.72) followed a 9-month-weight reduction program including a moderate energy restriction and regular physical activities in a specialized institution. In addition, 39 adolescents (group E, Z-score of BMI = 2.83) followed at home a 9-month-weight reduction program including medical and dietetic advices. Body composition (by impedancemetry) and BMR (by indirect calorimetry) were assessed before the beginning (M0), 4 months after (M4) and at the end (M9) of the programs, then 4 months (M13) and 16 month (M25) after the end of the weight-reduction programs. RESULTS: Twenty-two adolescents in group I and 20 adolescents in group E completed the study. At M0, age, body weight (BW), fat-free mass (FFM) and BMR of subjects of group I were higher (1.0 year, 36 %, 30 % and 23 %, respectively, P < 0.001), than those of group E. Pubertal stage and percentage of fat mass (FM) were not significantly different between the 2 groups. At M9, adolescents of group I showed significant reductions in BW and FM (-19 and -37 %, respectively, P < 0.001), but not significant differences in FFM. In addition, BMR decreased significantly between M0 and M4, both in absolute value (-6.7%, P < 0.001) and after adjustment for FFM (-5.8%, P < 0.001), and the difference was maintained until M9. Between M9 and M13, BW and Z-score of BMI were maintained in 12 adolescents, but increased (+9.7% and 14.8%, respectively, P < 0.001) in 10 adolescents. However, BMR did not change significantly in all adolescents. Between M13 and M25, BW, FM, FFM and BMR increased significantly (+13%, +34%, +6% et +5%, respectively, P < 0.001). During the 25 month period, adolescents of group E showed significant increases in BW, FFM and BMR (+8%, +14% and +10%, respectively, P < 0.001), and maintained their Z-score and FM. CONCLUSION: The reduction in BMR during the weight-reduction program at the institution could contribute to body weight regain in the post-obese adolescents if they do not maintain the lifestyle habits taught during the weight-reduction period. In other respects, Z-score was stabilized in 51% of domiciled obese adolescents.

    Au milieu des années 1950, Électricité de France, opérateur largement dominant dans la production et la distribution d'énergie sous forme électrique, du fait de l'avenir encore incertain du nucléaire civil, a opté, avec la construction de l''usine marémotrice sur l'estuaire de la Rance, pour une énergie renouvelable d'un type encore inusité à l'échelle industrielle. Cette centrale hydroélectrique, en de nombreux points particulièrement innovante, inaugurée en 1967, sera pourtant la seule de ce type réalisée en France. Elle est toujours en service. A un moment où la question des énergies renouvelables est pour le moins à l'ordre du jour, même si les réalisations restent modestes en termes industriels en France, il nous a semblé intéressant de mobiliser l'histoire d'une réalisation qui a, depuis des lustres, produit ce que nous considérons comme une bifurcation énergétique, dont l'avenir reste largement à construire.

    L'objectif de ce travail a été de comprendre au niveau microscopique, l'organisation du mélange supercritique CO2/éthanol considéré comme un ‘solvant universel' dans le domaine des applications industrielles (fractionnement des polymères). La méthodologie utilisée est basée sur une étude par spectrométrie de vibration (Infrarouge et Raman) et une analyse théorique des résultats expérimentaux en utilisant des méthodes de calculs ab-initio et des approches analytiques. Les corps purs et le mélange CO2/éthanol ont été étudiés.     L'articolo esplora un'ipotesi fondamentale: considerare la ruralità urbana nei termini di "piattaforma di sperimentazione" di un nuovo modello di sostenibilità. L'approccio elaborato si fonda su due fasi complementari: un'analisi critica e una lettura prospettica di un'esperienza "rurbana" nella regione Lombardia. Lo studio focalizza in primo luogo su un progetto pilota del 2006 e, in secondo luogo, sulle successive evoluzioni degli strumenti di pianificazione strategica sviluppati dalla Provincia di Milano nell'ambito del Parco Agricolo Sud. Tali strumenti pianificazione sono analizzati e valutati a partire dalle loro ricadute sul contesto socio-politico in cui il Parco si iscrive e attraverso una revisione critica della nozione di "sostenibilità". Particolare importanza è accordata alla valutazione della dimensione sociale delle politiche energetiche adottate nel contesto di studio.

    La filière laitière occupe une place importante à l’échelle mondiale, en termes de contribution à l’occupation des surfaces agricoles, aux emplois et à la création de richesse. La production laitière, qui résulte de modèles productifs très variés d’un pays à l’autre et qui relève d’espèces animales aux caractéristiques différentes, a considérablement augmenté au cours des dernières décennies. Le développement futur de la production laitière est soumis à différentes contraintes qui interrogent sur les voies à privilégier dans une optique de durabilité. Dans ce cadre, la première partie de cet article présente la dynamique du secteur laitier, en termes de consommation et de production, et ce, pour différentes grandes zones géographiques ; la seconde traite de la durabilité du secteur laitier, principalement dans les pays en développement, au travers d’une sélection de trois thèmes : la dimension sociale (souvent oubliée) et la nécessité d’intégrer les questions de genre ; l’usage durable des ressources hydriques en l’illustrant au travers de deux situations contrastées, celle du Maroc et de l’Inde ; la biodiversité et l’importance de la contribution des laits non bovins au développement local. La troisième partie rappelle que les échanges internationaux permettent, pour de nombreux pays déficitaires en lait, de satisfaire la demande intérieure. The dairy sector occupies an important place worldwide, in terms of contribution to agricultural land use, jobs and wealth creation. Dairy production results from varied production models from one country to another and is based on animal species with different characteristics. It has increased dramatically in recent decades. The future development of milk production is subject to various constraints that question the best ways of achieving sustainability. In this context, the first part of this article presents the dynamics of the dairy sector in terms of consumption and production in various major geographical areas. The second part deals with the sustainability of the dairy sector, mainly in developing countries, through a selection of three themes: i- the social dimension (often forgotten) and the need to mainstream gender issues; ii- the sustainable use of water resources in Morocco and India, chosen to illustrate two contrasting situations; iii- biodiversity and the essential contribution of non-bovine milks to local development. The third part recalls that international trade exchanges make it possible for many countries with a deficit in milk to meet domestic demand.

    En vue de comprendre et prévoir les modes de dispersion des polluants émis dans les zones urbanisées, des simulations numériques sont menées à haute résolution. L'objectif est de reproduire les caractéristiques atmosphériques au-dessus d'un milieu complexe urbanisé. On a développé une méthode précise de mise en œuvre des simulations numériques de l'atmosphère urbaine à haute résolution spatiale en se basant sur trois outils complémentaires, optimisés sur l'exemple de Marseille : le modèle atmosphérique SUBMESO, en mode SGE (simulation des grandes échelles), le modèle de sol pour les échelles sub-meso urbanisé SM2-U, le logiciel de cartographie des caractéristiques morphologiques de la canopée urbaine DFMap. Pour pouvoir simuler l'atmosphère de villes côtières, on a développé et validé une méthode de calcul des flux à l'interface mer – atmosphère adaptée aux données de température disponibles par mesure ou télédétection. Une étude de sensibilité est ensuite menée sur une configuration académique de ville dans son environnement rural et/ou côtier, à l'aide de douze simulations permettant d'évaluer les rétroactions entre le modèle de sol et le modèle atmosphérique. Cinq autres simulations sont effectuées sur la région marseillaise au cours d'une période d'observation intensive de la campagne expérimentale CLU – ESCOMPTE, avec trois grilles emboîtées, permettant la première validation du couple SUBMESO – SM2-U, l'analyse des interactions entre la ville, les systèmes de brise et la topographie, et aussi l'étude des champs turbulents à très haute résolution. La méthode développée peut être utilisée pour l'étude de la qualité de l'air d'autres agglomérations. In view of understanding and forecasting pollutant dispersion in urban areas, high resolution numerical simulations are performed. The aim is to reproduce atmospheric characteristics above complex urbanised site. An accurate method is developed to implement numerical simulations of the urban atmosphere based on three complementary tools, optimized on Marseille agglomeration example: the atmospheric Large Eddy Simulation model SUBMESO and the soil model for sub-meso scales, urban, SM2-U, and the DFMap software to map the morphological characteristics of urban fabrics. In order to simulate the atmosphere of coastal cities, a method to compute the fluxes at the sea - atmosphere interface is developing developed and validated. A sensitivity study is then carried on an academic configuration of a city and its rural and/or coastal environment, based on twelve simulations, in order to evaluate the retroactions of the soil and atmospheric models. Five other simulations of the Marseille area are performed with three nested grids during an intense observation period of the UBL – ESCOMPTE experimental campaign, allowing the first validation of the SUBMESO – SM2-U couple, an analysis of the interactions between the city, the breeze systems and the topography, and also very high resolution study of turbulent parameters. This method may be used to study the air quality of other urban areas.

    European Energy Policy is changing and multifold. It would be better to say that EU had six very different policies for energy since 1980. I will look deeper at only four of them: the single energy market, and three successive programs of European energy transition. Each of these four policies is or has been a genuine challenge, as European Commission does not have a strong executive power, and a detailed enough field-administration machinery to implement such policies. All European successes, with no equivalent in today’s world, are coming from deep and patient compromises between the weak EU layer of decision-making and the decisive national implementation resources.

    Les progrès réalisés durant ces dernières années dans le domaine de la microélectronique et notamment vis-à-vis de l'augmentation exponentielle de la densité d'intégration des composants et des systèmes a participé activement à l'apparition et au développement de systèmes portables communicants de plus en plus performants et polyvalents. La R&D dans les technologies de stockage d'énergie n'a pas suivi cette tendance d'évolution très rapide ; ce qui constitue un handicap majeur dans les évolutions futures des systèmes portables. La transmission d'énergie sans fils sur des distances considérables (plusieurs dizaines de mètres) grâce aux microondes constitue une solution très prometteuse pour pallier aux problèmes d'autonomie dans le cas des systèmes sans fils communicants. De plus, du fait de l'omniprésence des ondes électromagnétiques dans notre environnement avec des niveaux plus ou moins importants, la récupération et l'exploitation de cette énergie libre est également possible. La rectenna (Rectifying Antenna) est le dispositif permettant de capter et de convertir une onde électromagnétique en une tension continue. Plusieurs travaux de thèse axés sur l'étude et l'optimisation de la rectenna ont été réalisés au sein du laboratoire. Ces travaux avaient montré que pour des faibles niveaux de champs les tensions délivrées par la rectenna sont généralement très faibles et inexploitables. Aussi, comme la majorité des micro-sources d'énergie et à cause de son impédance interne, les performances de la rectenna dépendent fortement de sa charge de sortie. Ainsi, le développement d'un système d'interfaçage de la rectenna est nécessaire afin de pallier ces manquements inhérents du convertisseur RF/DC. Ce genre de système d'interfaçage est généralement absent dans la littérature à cause des faibles niveaux de puissance exploités. Par conséquent, la rectenna est très souvent utilisée tel quelle ; ce qui limite fortement le champ applicatif. Dans ce projet de recherche, un système de gestion énergétique de la rectenna complètement autonome a été conçu, développé et optimisé afin de garantir les performances optimales de la rectenna quelques soient les fluctuations de la puissance d'entrée et celles de la charge de sortie. Le circuit d'interfaçage permet également de fournir à la charge des niveaux de tension utilisables. Le système réalisé est basé tout d'abord sur l'utilisation d'un convertisseur DC/DC résonant pouvant fonctionner d'une manière complètement autonome à partir de niveaux très bas de la tension et de la puissance de la source. Ce convertisseur permet donc de garantir l'autonomie du système en éliminant la nécessité d'une source d'énergie auxiliaire. A cause de ses faibles performances énergétiques, ce convertisseur ne sera utilisé que durant la phase de démarrage. L'efficacité du système en termes de rendement énergétique et d'adaptation d'impédance est garantie grâce à l'utilisation d'un convertisseur Flyback fonctionnant dans son régime de conduction discontinu. Ainsi, une adaptation d'impédance très efficace est réalisée entre la rectenna et la charge de sortie. Ce convertisseur principal fonctionnera durant le régime permanent. Les deux convertisseurs ont été optimisés pour des niveaux de tension et de puissance aussi bas que quelques centaines de mV et quelques μW respectivement. Des mesures expérimentales réalisées sur plusieurs prototypes ont démontré le bon fonctionnement et les excellentes performances prédites par la procédure de conception ; ce qui nous permet de valider notre approche. De plus, les performances obtenues se distinguent parfaitement vis-à-vis de l'état de l'art. Enfin, en fonction de l'application désirée, plusieurs synoptiques d'association des deux structures sont proposés. Ceci inclut également la gestion énergétique de la charge de sortie. Latest advancements in microelectronic technologies and especially with the exponential increase of components and devices integration density have yield novel high technology and polyvalent portable systems. Such polyvalent communication devices need more and more available energy. Nonetheless, research in energy storage technology did not evolve with a similar speed. This constitutes a substantial handicap for the future evolution of portable devices. Wireless energy transfer through large distances such as tens of meters using microwaves is a very promising solution in order to deal with the autonomy problem in portable devices. In addition, since electromagnetic waves are ubiquitous in our environment, harvesting and using this free and available energy is also possible. Rectenna (Rectifying Antenna) is the device that allows to collect and to convert an electromagnetic wave into DC power. Several thesis research projects focusing on studying and optimizing the rectenna was carried-out into the Ampere laboratory. It has been shown that for a low level of the electromagnetic field the voltage provided by the rectenna is ultra-low and thus impractical. Further, as it is the case for the majority of energy harvesting micro-sources, the performances of the rectenna depend highly with the loading conditions. So, the development of an interfacing circuit for the rectenna is a necessary task in order to relieve the RF/DC converter inherent flaws. As it is pointed out into the literature, such power management circuit is in most cases absent due to the ultra-low power levels. In most cases, the rectenna is used as it; which reduces strongly the applications area. Within this research project, an ultra-low power and fully-autonomous power management system dedicated to rectennas was developed and optimized. It allows to guarantee highest performances of the rectenna whatever are the fluctuation of the input power level and the output load conditions. In addition, this power management system allows to provide a conventional voltage level to the load. The first part of the developed system is composed by a resonant DC/DC converter which plays the role of start-up circuit. In this case, no external energy source is required even with low voltage and ultra-low power source conditions. Because of its general poor energetic performances, this resonant converter will be used only during the start-up phase. The second part of the developed system is composed by a Flyback converter operating in its discontinuous conduction mode. Using this mode, the converter realizes static and very effective impedance matching with the rectenna in order to extract the maximum available power whatever are the input and the output conditions. Furthermore, thanks to the optimization procedure, the converter shows excellent efficiency performances even for μW power levels based on a discrete demonstrator. Finally, the converter provides conventional voltage levels allowing to power standard electronics. Experimental tests based on discrete prototypes for the both converters show distinguish results for the start-up voltage, the impedance matching effectiveness and the efficiency as regard to the state of the art. 6
