    Authors: Leisten, Christian;

    This thesis presents a new kind of research platform at the Center for Wind Power Drives at RWTH Aachen University for the laboratory testing of wind turbines. It consists of a state-of-the-art research wind turbine which is newly set up and specifically automated. The platform is embedded in a hardware-in-the-loop system on a system test bench and is connected to a simulation model. It provides simple, automated and reproducible testing under arbitrary conditions in the laboratory. The major components, tower and rotor, are removed and realistic loads are imposed on the turbine on a test bench by a motor and a non-torque load system. The original programmable logic control remains active and missing components are being emulated by the hardware-in-the-loop system. The virtual components of the hardware-in-the-loop environment and the physically existing ones can be exchanged as needed. The attached simulation environment of both the turbine in the field and on the test bench is also fully integrated, enabling virtual or physical testing as required. The controls of both the turbine and the test bench are fully accessible, which offers maximum flexibility. Flexibility on the electrical side is provided by a grid emulator. Due to the extensive instrumentation of the turbine, particular insight into individual drive train components is also possible.The system offers particular advantages for the development process of wind turbines and is recognized by the relevant committees, including for certification. This allows for tests to be conducted much earlier, faster and more regularly, leading to a more agile development process. Research results can be freely published as there are no commercial interests involved. The hardware-in-the-loop system is modularly constructed so that other wind turbines can be integrated with minimal effort. A typical certification measurement campaign was conducted with the presented platform and validated against field data. Die Akzeptanz kleinräumiger Angebote der Lebensmittelversorgung im Untersuchungsraum Stuttgart steht im Mittelpunkt dieses Arbeitsberichts, der grundsätzliche Überlegungen und aktuelle empirische Untersuchungen am Fachgebiet Agrarmärkte und Agrarmarketing der Universität Hohenheim hierzu bündelt. Betrachtet werden die Akteure Verbraucher und Unternehmen in Stuttgart gleichermaßen. Die zentralen Fragen der Untersuchungen lauten: Was bedeuten einer Stadtbevölkerung Lebensmittel regionaler Herkunft? Wie werden kleinräumige Angebote der Lebensmittelversorgung von den urbanen Verbrauchern im Untersuchungsraum Stuttgart angenommen und welche Bedeutung können diese in Zukunft gewinnen? Welche Bedeutung haben Lebensmittel regionaler Herkunft für Händler und Direktvermarkter in Stuttgart und welche Entwicklungen lassen sich ableiten? The working paper analyzes the acceptance of short-chain food supply systems by consumers and companies in Stuttgart, the provincial capital of Baden-Württemberg, based on theoretical considerations and empirical studies carried out by the Chair of Agricultural Markets and Marketing at the University of Hohenheim. The key questions of the empirical studies focus on the following points: How does the city population reflect the importance of regional foods? What are the attitudes and purchase behavior of urban consumers in regard to regional food or self production and what importance can the subjects gain in the future? Of which importance is regional food to local merchants? assortment in Stuttgart and which future developments can we derive?

    Die Verbesserung der Luftqualität und damit der Lebensqualität der Bürger, gemeinsam mit einer langfristig gesicherten Energieversorgung der Europäischen Union, sind vorrangige Ziele der Europäischen Umwelt- und Energiepolitik. Ein Hauptverursacher von luftbelastenden Schadstoffemissionen und Verbraucher von vorwiegend nicht erneuerbaren Ressourcen ist der Verkehrssektor. Gerade in Ballungsräumen mit ihrer dichten Bebauung und hohen Bevölkerungs- und Verkehrsdichte sind die Umweltbelastungen des Verkehrs spürbar. Um diese Verkehrsbelastungen zu senken, ist es erklärtes Ziel der Städte und Gemeinden, den ÖPNV auszuweiten. Da der Nahverkehrsbus das vorwiegend eingesetzte Transportmittel im ÖPNV ist, wird von den Kommunen der Einsatz verbrauchs- und emissionsarmer Omnibusse angestrebt. Mögliche Antriebskonzepte nutzen u.a. selbstzündende bzw. fremdgezündete Verbrennungsmotoren sowie Brennstoffzellen. Abhängig vom Antriebskonzept können verschiedene flüssige und gasförmige Kraftstoffe, wie z.B. Diesel, Erdgas oder Wasserstoff, eingesetzt werden. Nun haben Bushersteller wie Busbetreiber das Problem, dass sie den vollen Umfang der ökologischen Chancen und Risiken bekannter und neuer Busantriebstechnologien meist nicht oder nur unzureichend einschätzen können. Um eine Aussage über die Umweltfreundlichkeit der verschiedenen Antriebsformen treffen zu können, ist eine ganzheitliche Betrachtung der einzelnen Bussysteme aus umweltlicher Sicht durchzuführen. Wesentlich dabei ist die Berücksichtigung des gesamten Lebenszyklus des Systems Nahverkehrsbus und der lokalen Einsatzbedingungen. Basierend auf dem Ansatz der Ganzheitlichen Bilanzierung und den Erkenntnissen aus den von der Europäischen Kommission geförderten Demonstrationsprojekten CUTE (Clean Urban Transport for Europe) und ECTOS (Ecological City Transport System) wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit ein Instrumentarium zur ökologisch-technischen Analyse und Optimierung von Nahverkehrsomnibussen entwickelt. Der Ansatz des Modells beruht auf der Untersuchung der vier ...

    Authors: Buchwitz, Michael;

    Retrieval of atmospheric constituents from remote sensing measurements requires a radiative transfer forward model and appropriate inversion algorithms. A fast and accurate correlated-k (c-k) distribution radiative transfer scheme has been developed for the simulation of radiance spectra to be measured in nadir viewing geometry by the SCIAMACHY satellite diode array grating spectrometer. SCIAMACHY is part of the atmospheric sciences payload of the European Space Agencies ENVISAT-1 satellite to be launched in mid 2001. SCIAMACHY covers the spectral region 240-2385 nm with moderate spectral resolution (0.2-1.6 nm FWHM) and observers solar radiation scattered and reflected back to space by the Earths atmosphere and surface. The spectral region 440-2385 nm is dominated by molecular line absorption due to CO, CO2, CH4, H2O, N2O, and O2. The most accurate approach for the calculation of the spectrally averaged radiance - if line absorption needs to be considered - is the line-by-line approach. This approach, however, is very time consuming and can only be used for reference purposes. Therefore, a much faster c-k scheme has been developed. It is based on parameters that can be interpreted as trace gas absorption cross-sections representative for narrows spectral intervals. In this context a new method (alpha-mixing scheme) has been developed to consider spectrally overlapping line absorption. This method is shown to be more accurate (at SCIAMACHY resolution) and flexiblethan any previously developed method. The c-k and a line-by-line schemes have been implemented in the radiative transfer.

    Authors: Hoffmann, Melanie;

    To achieve the 1.5 °C target of the Paris Climate Agreement that came into force in 2016 [UNI15], the conversion of the entire energy system to renewable energy sources is essential. Strong and stable wind conditions offshore as well as a high growth potential make offshore wind energy far away from shore an important energy source. The integration of such Offshore Wind Farms (OWF) has to be safe, flexible, efficient, and affordable, which makes High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission systems often the preferred choice for their grid connection. HVDC transmission systems consist of many subsystems, components, and interfaces e.g. to the OWF, which characterise them as complex systems. The complexity, many and diverse requirements and a large number of system design alternatives require grid planners, grid operators and manufacturers to employ a systematic approach to develop the most suitable design that meets all requirements and functions as expected in its environment. Systems Engineering with its procedure based on the so-called V-model, has proven itself for many years outside the energy industry as a suitable methodology for the development of complex systems. The extension to Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) allows the specification of a system in a universal system modelling language (SysML) based on the activities in the V-model, which enables the collaborative system development across disciplines. Based on the MBSE methodology, a HVDC transmission system for a case study consisting of three OWFs with a total power of 3 GW is designed in this thesis. The requirements are derived from stakeholder needs and categorised before the system design process. Stakeholders are for example the OWF owner and the onshore grid operator. This thesis considers electrical engineering requirements and the objective of a low levelised cost of energy (LCOE) design. The system integration and verification of the prior defined requirements are performed, before a validated HVDC transmission system design is available following the system development process with the V-model. MBSE enables early identification of design errors through verification activities when they are still easy and cheap to correct. The SysML model forms the core element for the HVDC transmission system design as all relevant requirements, constraints, specifications, and the system objective are included in the model. The most suitable system architecture and component definition is developed with a Multi-Criteria Decision Aid assessment and selection method based on the specifications in the SysML model. In this thesis, a step-by-step guideline for the development of HVDC transmission systems based on MBSE is developed to improve the system design with an interdisciplinary and model-based approach. This approach leads to a detailed understanding of system elements and their interactions inside and outside the HVDC transmission system. The result for the case study is a HVDC configuration consisting of two symmetrical monopoles, which can be interconnected as a multi-terminal HVDC system in the event of a monopole failure. This arrangement is identified as the preferred architecture for the case study and assumptions. The converter transformer is chosen as an example to demonstrate the identification of the number and type of components as part of the Systems Engineering process. Discipline-specific models and simulations provide details to the design. At the end of the system design activities, the SysML model represents a detailed specification of the HVDC system and thereby replaces many documents with specifications. The advantage of the developed SysML model is to facilitate the design analysis and to identify the impact of requirement changes or changes in the system environment on the system design. The SysML and discipline-specific models allow the verification of system requirements, e.g. of the availability, which has a high influence on LCOE and is used as an assessment criterion on system and component level. The validation procedure is also introduced. Based on the proposed approach for HVDC transmission system development, the potential for the extension of the methodology for energy systems in general is presented to support the realisation of the energy system conversion to renewable energy sources. Um das 1,5 °C Ziel des 2016 in Kraft getretenen Pariser Klimaabkommens zu erreichen [UNI15], ist die Umstellung des gesamten Energiesystems auf erneuerbare Energiequellen unerlässlich. Starke und stabile Windverhältnisse auf dem Meer sowie ein hohes Wachstumspotenzial machen die Offshore-Windenergie fernab der Küste zu einer wichtigen Energiequelle. Die Integration solcher Offshore-Windparks (OWP) muss sicher, flexibel, effizient und bezahlbar sein, weshalb die Hochspannungs-Gleichstrom-Übertragung (HGÜ) oft für den Netzanschluss bevorzugt wird. HGÜ Systeme bestehen aus vielen Teilsystemen, Komponenten und Schnittstellen, z. B. zu den OWP, was sie zu komplexen Systemen macht. Die Komplexität, die vielen und unterschiedlichen Anforderungen und die große Anzahl von Systemalternativen erfordern für Netzplaner, Netzbetreiber und Hersteller einen systematischen Ansatz zur Entwicklung des am besten geeigneten Entwurfs, der alle Anforderungen erfüllt und in seiner Umgebung wie erwartet funktioniert. Das Systems Engineering mit seinem auf dem sogenannten V-Modell basierenden Vorgehen hat sich seit vielen Jahren außerhalb der Energiewirtschaft als geeignete Methodik für die Entwicklung komplexer Systeme bewährt. Die Erweiterung zum Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) ermöglicht die Spezifikation eines Systems in einer universellen Systemmodellierungssprache (SysML) durch die Aktivitäten im V-Modell, was die kollaborative Systementwicklung über Disziplinen hinweg ermöglicht. Auf der Grundlage von MBSE wird in dieser Arbeit ein HGÜ System für eine Fallstudie entworfen, die aus drei OWPs mit einer Gesamtleistung von 3 GW besteht. Die Anforderungen werden aus der Notwendigkeit der Stakeholder abgeleitet und vor der Systementwicklung kategorisiert. Stakeholder sind beispielsweise der OWP Eigentümer und der Onshore Netzbetreiber. In dieser Arbeit werden elektrotechnische Anforderungen und das Ziel eines Designs mit niedrigen Stromgestehungskosten berücksichtigt. Die Systemintegration und Verifizierung der zuvor definierten Anforderungen wird durchgeführt, bevor ein validierter HGÜ Systementwurf nach dem Systementwicklungsprozess mit dem V-Modell zur Verfügung steht. MBSE ermöglicht die frühzeitige Identifizierung von Entwurfsfehlern durch Verifikation, wenn diese noch einfach und kostengünstig zu korrigieren sind. Das SysML Modell bildet das Kernelement für den Entwurf des HGÜ Systems, da alle relevanten Anforderungen, Randbedingungen, Spezifikationen und das Systemziel im Modell enthalten sind. Die am besten geeignete Systemarchitektur und Komponentendefinition wird auf der Grundlage der Spezifikationen im SysML-Modell mit einer multikriteriellen Methode zur Bewertung und Auswahl entwickelt.

    Betriebseigene Getreideanlagen sind für die Mehrzahl der Erzeuger nach wie vor unverzichtbar. Eine zunehmende Überschneidung der Erntefenster, steigende Mähdreschkapazitäten und daraus resultierende Anforderungen an die Logistik zwingen viele Betriebe zum Neubau bzw. zur Erweiterung ihrer Anlagen. Die Steigerung der Energieeffizienz und Senkung der Verfahrenskosten stehen im Fokus aktueller Forschung und Entwicklung. In-house grain plants are still indispensable for the majority of producers. Due to a growing overlap of harvest times, increasing capacity of the harvesters and the resulting requirements for the logistic, more and more farmers are forced to build new facilities or extend existing plants. The actual research and development is focused on increasing energy efficiency and lowering process costs. Jahrbuch Agrartechnik, vol. 26. 2014Jahrbuch Agrartechnik 2014, vol. 26.2014, p. 171

    Wissenschaftler:innen beschreiben auf Basis aktueller Forschungsergebnisse und Studien, wie eine nachhaltige Welt aussehen könnte. Dies ist keine Vorhersage oder Modellierung, sondern es sind Beschreibungen dieser Welt von Menschen, die sich intensiv mit Lösungsmöglichkeiten beschäftigen. Neben einem Weiter-so-Bild (Titel: „Langsam“) werden daher drei verschiedene Zukünfte geschildert (Titel: „Groß“, „Fokussiert“ und „Graswurzel“). Diese benennen auch Beispiele der Maßnahmen mit denen soziale Ziele erreicht und planetare Grenzen (zum Beispiel Pariser Klimaziele oder Biodiversitätsziele) eingehalten werden können. Die hier bereitgestellten Texte wurden von unabhängigen Wissenschaftler:innen geprüft (wissenschaftliches Review). Diese Datei dokumentiert nur eine (von über 40) perspektivischen und thematischen Facetten in einem (von vier) Zukunftsbilderrahmen. Andere Texte finden sich in der community ‘Zukunftsbilder’.

    Authors: Leisten, Christian;

    Authors: Faltenbacher, Michael;

    Die Verbesserung der Luftqualität und damit der Lebensqualität der Bürger, gemeinsam mit einer langfristig gesicherten Energieversorgung der Europäischen Union, sind vorrangige Ziele der Europäischen Umwelt- und Energiepolitik. Ein Hauptverursacher von luftbelastenden Schadstoffemissionen und Verbraucher von vorwiegend nicht erneuerbaren Ressourcen ist der Verkehrssektor. Gerade in Ballungsräumen mit ihrer dichten Bebauung und hohen Bevölkerungs- und Verkehrsdichte sind die Umweltbelastungen des Verkehrs spürbar. Um diese Verkehrsbelastungen zu senken, ist es erklärtes Ziel der Städte und Gemeinden, den ÖPNV auszuweiten. Da der Nahverkehrsbus das vorwiegend eingesetzte Transportmittel im ÖPNV ist, wird von den Kommunen der Einsatz verbrauchs- und emissionsarmer Omnibusse angestrebt. Mögliche Antriebskonzepte nutzen u.a. selbstzündende bzw. fremdgezündete Verbrennungsmotoren sowie Brennstoffzellen. Abhängig vom Antriebskonzept können verschiedene flüssige und gasförmige Kraftstoffe, wie z.B. Diesel, Erdgas oder Wasserstoff, eingesetzt werden. Nun haben Bushersteller wie Busbetreiber das Problem, dass sie den vollen Umfang der ökologischen Chancen und Risiken bekannter und neuer Busantriebstechnologien meist nicht oder nur unzureichend einschätzen können. Um eine Aussage über die Umweltfreundlichkeit der verschiedenen Antriebsformen treffen zu können, ist eine ganzheitliche Betrachtung der einzelnen Bussysteme aus umweltlicher Sicht durchzuführen. Wesentlich dabei ist die Berücksichtigung des gesamten Lebenszyklus des Systems Nahverkehrsbus und der lokalen Einsatzbedingungen. Basierend auf dem Ansatz der Ganzheitlichen Bilanzierung und den Erkenntnissen aus den von der Europäischen Kommission geförderten Demonstrationsprojekten CUTE (Clean Urban Transport for Europe) und ECTOS (Ecological City Transport System) wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit ein Instrumentarium zur ökologisch-technischen Analyse und Optimierung von Nahverkehrsomnibussen entwickelt. Der Ansatz des Modells beruht auf der Untersuchung der vier ...

    Authors: Buchwitz, Michael;

    Authors: Hoffmann, Melanie;

26.2014, p. 171
