    Authors: Rautmann, Christof;

    This thesis deals with the acoustic simulation of wind turbine noise. Turbulent boundary layer trailing-edge interaction noise is the main noise source for modern wind turbines. A hybrid approach was used to simulate this phenomenon on a two-demensional airfoil level. In a first step a numerical flow simulation (CFD) is conducted. It yields aerodynamic coefficients as well as the flow field around the airfoil and turbulence statistics from the used turbulence model. In a second step these turbulence statistics are used to reconstruct a time and space resolved turbulence field by utilizing the stochastic reconstruction method FRPM. Together with the underlying mean flow, the turbulent sound sources are used in a subsequent computational aeroacoustic (CAA) simulation. The result is the sound pressure field around the airfoil. The method was validated using experimental results from wind tunnel tests. It shows better accuracy than semi-emperical approaches and is much faster than scale resolving methods. Throughout geometry variations it was shown that airfoils with the same aerodynamic performance could have totally different overall sound emissions in a range of up to 4dB. Relations between parameters from the suction side boundary layer and the noise spectrum were shown. Guidelines for the design of low-noise airfoils were derived. To evaluate the noise levels for a whole wind turbine, a strategy was developed to simulate the overall noise by a summation of independent airfoil sections. Time and space resolved noise maps were calculated for arbitrary observer positions around the wind turbine. Noise reductions up to 2 dB were possible without drawbacks on turbine performance or loads. The presented method can be used in the early stages of future wind turbine design.

    Die Energieversorgung auf der Erde wird zukünftig zu einem Problem. Bedingt ist dies durch eine fortschreitende Verknappung der natürlichen Ressourcen, wie Kohle, Gas und Öl sowie einer Zunahme der CO2-Konzentration und anderer Schadstoffe in der Atmosphäre. Regenerative Energiequellen müssen genutzt werden, um den steigenden Energiebedarf zu sichern. Eine interessante Möglichkeit zur Nutzung der Solarenergie stellt das Aufwindkraftwerk dar. Das Aufwindkraftwerk besteht aus einem Kamin, um den ein Glasdachkollektor auf dem Erdboden angeordnet ist. Am Fuße des Kamins befinden sich Turbinen und Generatoren. Die einfallende Solarenergie wird hauptsächlich über die Wechselwirkung mit dem Erdreich in thermische Energie, in kinetische Energie, in Rotationsenergie und in elektrische Energie umgewandelt. Das Ziel der Arbeit bestand in der physikalisch-mathematischen Modellierung, der genaueren Erkennung des Wirkprinzips und der Diskussion der Anlagenparameter Leistung und Wirkungsgrad. Im Rahmen dieser Aufgabe wurden dazu stationäre und instationäre Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Modelle und stationäre und instationäre vereinfachte Modelle entwickelt, diskutiert und miteinander verglichen. Grundlegend neue Erkenntnisse wurden bei den Verläufen der Temperaturen im Kollektor, insbesondere der Erdoberflächentemperatur erreicht. Parameteranpassungen im Wärmeübergangsmodell und Widerstandsmodell führten für vier ausgewählte, stationäre Sonnenenergien auf eine gute Übereinstimmung zwischen den Ergebnissen (Temperaturhub, Druckentnahme, Leistung und Wirkungsgrad) des stationären, hybriden Modells und des stationären CFD-Modells. Weiterhin stimmen die lokalen Größen Wärmeübergangskoeffizient, Erdoberflächentemperatur, Lufttemperatur und Glasdachtemperatur gut zwischen den Modellen überein. Mit dem CFD Modell wurden der Prototyp und 3 Großkraftwerke berechnet. Mit dem entwickelten instationären FDM-Modell wurden erstmalig numerische Langzeitsimulationen (1 Jahr) durchgeführt. Zur Überprüfung des Modells wurden die Ergebnisse ...

    Authors: Almansi, Adel;

    Für die folgenden diskutierten Bereiche, d. h. Bioabfall aus Haushalten, Speisereste, Abfall aus der Lebensmittelindustrie sowie Klärschlamm, werden die Biomasseströme in einer Übersicht aufgezeigt. Diese Bilanzierung umfasst sowohl die Produkte als auch die Nebenprodukte, Reststoffe oder Abfälle mit dem Ziel, diejenigen Biomasseabfallströme im Gesamtzusammenhang zu identifizieren, die aus Sicht des Klimaschutzes und der Schonung fossiler und mineralischer Ressourcen als besonders relevant eingestuft werden können bzw. deren bisherige Nutzung oder Entsorgung noch Optimierungsmöglichkeiten erkennen lassen. Die Relevanz ergibt sich demnach aus der Kombination von Masseanfall und Grad einer möglichen Optimierung. Ein Optimierungsansatz kann eine Beeinflussung des Biomassestoffstroms sein (Stoffstromlenkung oder zusätzlicher Nutzungsschritt) oder eine Optimierung auf Prozessebene bedeuten. Die als relevant erkannten Biomasseabfallströme werden einer vertiefenden Analyse unterzogen. Die erkannten Optimierungsansätze werden als Verwertungsoptionen quantitativ bilanziert und nach den verschiedenen Umweltwirkungskategorien bewertet. Maßstab ist jeweils der aktuelle oder zukünftig zu erwartende nicht optimierte Umgang mit Biomasseabfällen. Die mit der Verwertung bzw. Entsorgung verbundenen Umweltlasten werden beachtet und in die Bilanzierung miteinbezogen, d. h., die Substitution von Energie oder Produkten, die konventionell unter Nutzung von Primärrohstoffen erzeugt werden müssten. Eine Optimierung der Bewirtschaftung von Biomasseabfällen kann dabei sowohl eine bessere stoffliche als auch verstärkte energetische Nutzung bedeuten. Optimal sind dabei Nutzungskaskaden im Sinne einer Kombination von energetischer und vorheriger stofflicher Nutzung oder umgekehrt. Die wertgebenden Eigenschaften der einzelnen Biomassen lassen sich häufig nicht nur stofflich oder energetisch, sondern auch als eine Kombination aus beidem nutzen. So wird bspw. der Kohlenstoffgehalt einer Biomasse möglicherweise energetisch am Besten genutzt. Der ebenfalls wertgebende Gehalt an Pflanzennährstoffen sollte zusätzlich für eine optimierte Bewirtschaftung nicht ungenutzt bleiben.

    Authors: Schilling, Janpeter; Werland, Luise;

    Die Zusammenhänge zwischen Umwelt- und Klimaveränderungen auf der einen und Gewalt und Konflikten auf der anderen Seite sind vielfältig und komplex. Ziel dieses Kapitels ist es, eine Einführung in die zentralen Konzepte und Theorien zu geben sowie den aktuellen Stand der Wissenschaft zusammenzufassen. Zudem wird ein Analyserahmen entwickelt, der die zentralen Konzepte Resilienz, Verwundbarkeit und Menschliche Sicherheit einbezieht. Um auch die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf Kooperation darzustellen, wird der Ansatz des Environmental Peacebuildings eingeführt. Dabei wird nicht nur auf Klimaauswirkungen wie Dürren eingegangen, sondern auch die Rolle von Klimaschutzmaßnahmen, Klimaanpassung und bewusste Eingriffe in das Klimasystem, dem sogenannten Climate Engineering, als Konflikt- oder Kooperationsverstärker behandelt. Ein weiterer Abschnitt beschreibt die Heat Hypothesis und den aktuellen Forschungsstand zu Zusammenhängen zwischen Klimaveränderungen, Hitze und Aggression. Allgemein lässt sich festhalten, dass sowohl Klimaauswirkungen als auch Klimaschutz- und Klimaanpassungsmaßnahmen sowie Climate Engineering (Gewalt-)Konflikte verstärken oder hervorrufen können. Allerdings sind die Zusammenhänge indirekt und komplex. Wichtig sind Institutionen und Ressourcengovernance, denn sie entscheiden darüber, wer von einer veränderten Ressourcenverfügbarkeit profitiert und wer nicht. Die Heat Hypothesis weist darauf hin, dass Temperaturerhöhungen zu aggressivem Verhalten und Gewalttaten von Individuen beitragen können. Aber auch hier sind einfache Wirkungszusammenhänge nach dem Schema „heißer gleich mehr Gewalt“ empirisch nicht belegt. Vielmehr müssen soziale und ökonomische Kontextfaktoren, wie beispielsweise sozialer Status und Einkommensverhältnisse, berücksichtig werden.

  • Authors: Stiel, Florian;

    Vor dem Hintergrund demographischer Entwicklungen, der zunehmenden Nutzung von Informationstechnologien in unserem Alltag (Stichwort „Digitales Leben“) und einem begrenzten Maß natürlicher Ressourcen ist die Wissenschaft zunehmend gefordert, das Verhältnis aus Informationstechnologie, menschlichem Verhalten und unserer Umwelt neu zu hinterfragen. Gegenstand des Dissertationsvorhabens ist daher die Untersuchung von Informationssystemen im Hinblick auf deren ökologische Nachhaltigkeit. Dabei zeigt sich auf der einen Seite, dass Informationssysteme aufgrund der genutzten physischen IT-Infrastruktur (PCs, Server, Mobiltelefone etc.) als Ursache von Umweltproblematiken in Erscheinung treten können. Neben dem Stromverbrauch bei der Nutzung von IT steht dabei vor allem der Verbrauch seltener Metalle wie Gold, Palladium und Tantal sowie das Problem der Entsorgung von Altgeräten im Fokus. Auf der anderen Seite werden Informationssysteme zunehmend auch als Mittel zur Lösung von Umweltproblematiken gesehen. So können Informationssysteme dazu beitragen, Geschäftsprozesse effizienter und damit umweltfreundlicher zu gestalten, Konsumenten von Produkten und Dienstleistungen sowie Entscheider im Unternehmen für Umweltprobleme zu sensibilisieren oder neue umweltfreundliche Produktinnovationen zu unterstützen. Zur Untersuchung des Themenkomplexes werden etablierte Ansätze zur Untersuchung physischer Systeme auf Informationssysteme übertragen. Zum einen werden Methoden und Softwaretools aus dem Bereich ereignisdiskreter Simulationen (Materialflusssimulationen, Simulation von Supply Chains, Produktionsabläufen etc.) genutzt. Ereignisdiskrete Simulationen erlauben es, die Auswirkungen von Informationssystemen auf ein physisches System (z. B. eine Fabrik oder ein öffentliches Transportsystem) realitätsnah in einem Simulationsmodell abzubilden. Hierdurch ist es möglich eine Verbindung zwischen virtuellen Informationen und physischen Prozessen (z. B. Entstehung von CO2-Emission) herzustellen. Zum anderen werden Methoden und ...

    Ziel der vorliegenden Dissertation war die Untersuchung und Optimierung des Biogasbildungspotentials der marinen Mikroalge \(\textit {Nannochloropsis salina}\) im Rahmen von Batchversuchen und einer semi-kontinuierlichen Langzeitstudie im Vergleich zu Maissilage. Im Rahmen der Batchersuche wurden der Salzgehalt, der robuste Zellwandaufbau und die unausgeglichene Nähstoffzusammensetzung der Algenbiomasse als limitierende Faktoren in der Vergärung der Mikroalge identifiziert. In semi-kontinuierlichen Langzeitversuchen wurde in der Monovergärung der Algenbiomasse eine konstante Zunahme des Ammoniumgehaltes und der Leitfähigkeit beobachtet, die in einer Störung des Prozessgleichgewichtes durch Akkumulierung von flüchtigen organischen Säuren resultierte. Durch Adaption der mikrobiellen Biozönose an die veränderten Bedingungen konnte zum Ende der Versuchsreihe ein stabiler Abbau der Algenbiomasse mit vermindertem Abbaugrad (ca. 50%) erreicht werden.

    Authors: Ladineo, Marcus;

    The report 'Our Common Future' (1987) defines Sustainable Development as 'development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs' (WCED). But regarding diverging backgrounds of value orientations, interests, ego involvements, and the inherent fuzziness of the notion of Sustainable Development it is to be expected that stakeholders have their own ideas of Sustainability or at least weight the aspects of sustainability differently. This empirical study provides a social psychological model of this 'subjective theories' about Sustainable Development. One important conceptual distinction had been implemented in the design of the study: Sustainability as an abstract concept, more reflecting a general world view on the one hand side, and Sustainability as a more concrete evaluation of a given situation (i. e. new technology or policy) in an environmental context on the other. 99 members of environmental groups, natur conversation groups, and members of wind energy associations were asked with a self rating questionnaire about their attitudes towards sustainability, value orientations and general political beliefs. As an example for the concrete aspect of Sustainability subjects were asked to what extent they regard the technology of offshore wind energy as sustainable (i.e. concerning its potential harm for species) and about the perceived risks and chances accompanied with this new form of energy supply. Three most important results can be stated: 1. Five dimensions of general Sustainability were identified using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis: belief in technological progress, democratic paticipation, ecocentrism, individual lifestyle/consumption, and attitudes towards the western, growth oriented economic system. 2. Measured by correlational and path analytical methods almost no evidence was found for any relation between the abstract view of Sustainability and the perceived sustainability of offshore wind energy. The abstract 'theory' about Sustainability could be explained by the abstract value orientation of the subjects whilst the estimated Sustainability of this form of environmental technology was related to its perceived risks and chances.3. Analysis of variance yielded that also the group memership had an impact for the estimated Sustainability of offshore wind energy, its risks and chances. As hypothesized subjects belonging to wind energy associations estimated the risks for species lowest and the chances for a positive effect for CO2 reduction (and therefore for the protection of the climate) highest. The nature conservation groups estimated risks and chances conversely. The judgement of the environmental conversation groups was found between those poles. However almost no difference could be found in the abstract notion of Sustainable Development, general value orientation, and political beliefs between the subgroups of the sample. The empirical findings of the study were summarized by proposing a social psychological model of subjective perception of Sustainability. The theoretical impact of the results and the limitations of the study were discussed at the end.

    Authors: Rautmann, Christof;

    Authors: Almansi, Adel;

    Für die folgenden diskutierten Bereiche, d. h. Bioabfall aus Haushalten, Speisereste, Abfall aus der Lebensmittelindustrie sowie Klärschlamm, werden die Biomasseströme in einer Übersicht aufgezeigt. Diese Bilanzierung umfasst sowohl die Produkte als auch die Nebenprodukte, Reststoffe oder Abfälle mit dem Ziel, diejenigen Biomasseabfallströme im Gesamtzusammenhang zu identifizieren, die aus Sicht des Klimaschutzes und der Schonung fossiler und mineralischer Ressourcen als besonders relevant eingestuft werden können bzw. deren bisherige Nutzung oder Entsorgung noch Optimierungsmöglichkeiten erkennen lassen. Die Relevanz ergibt sich demnach aus der Kombination von Masseanfall und Grad einer möglichen Optimierung. Ein Optimierungsansatz kann eine Beeinflussung des Biomassestoffstroms sein (Stoffstromlenkung oder zusätzlicher Nutzungsschritt) oder eine Optimierung auf Prozessebene bedeuten. Die als relevant erkannten Biomasseabfallströme werden einer vertiefenden Analyse unterzogen. Die erkannten Optimierungsansätze werden als Verwertungsoptionen quantitativ bilanziert und nach den verschiedenen Umweltwirkungskategorien bewertet. Maßstab ist jeweils der aktuelle oder zukünftig zu erwartende nicht optimierte Umgang mit Biomasseabfällen. Die mit der Verwertung bzw. Entsorgung verbundenen Umweltlasten werden beachtet und in die Bilanzierung miteinbezogen, d. h., die Substitution von Energie oder Produkten, die konventionell unter Nutzung von Primärrohstoffen erzeugt werden müssten. Eine Optimierung der Bewirtschaftung von Biomasseabfällen kann dabei sowohl eine bessere stoffliche als auch verstärkte energetische Nutzung bedeuten. Optimal sind dabei Nutzungskaskaden im Sinne einer Kombination von energetischer und vorheriger stofflicher Nutzung oder umgekehrt. Die wertgebenden Eigenschaften der einzelnen Biomassen lassen sich häufig nicht nur stofflich oder energetisch, sondern auch als eine Kombination aus beidem nutzen. So wird bspw. der Kohlenstoffgehalt einer Biomasse möglicherweise energetisch am Besten genutzt. Der ebenfalls wertgebende Gehalt an Pflanzennährstoffen sollte zusätzlich für eine optimierte Bewirtschaftung nicht ungenutzt bleiben.

    Authors: Schilling, Janpeter; Werland, Luise;

    Die Zusammenhänge zwischen Umwelt- und Klimaveränderungen auf der einen und Gewalt und Konflikten auf der anderen Seite sind vielfältig und komplex. Ziel dieses Kapitels ist es, eine Einführung in die zentralen Konzepte und Theorien zu geben sowie den aktuellen Stand der Wissenschaft zusammenzufassen. Zudem wird ein Analyserahmen entwickelt, der die zentralen Konzepte Resilienz, Verwundbarkeit und Menschliche Sicherheit einbezieht. Um auch die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf Kooperation darzustellen, wird der Ansatz des Environmental Peacebuildings eingeführt. Dabei wird nicht nur auf Klimaauswirkungen wie Dürren eingegangen, sondern auch die Rolle von Klimaschutzmaßnahmen, Klimaanpassung und bewusste Eingriffe in das Klimasystem, dem sogenannten Climate Engineering, als Konflikt- oder Kooperationsverstärker behandelt. Ein weiterer Abschnitt beschreibt die Heat Hypothesis und den aktuellen Forschungsstand zu Zusammenhängen zwischen Klimaveränderungen, Hitze und Aggression. Allgemein lässt sich festhalten, dass sowohl Klimaauswirkungen als auch Klimaschutz- und Klimaanpassungsmaßnahmen sowie Climate Engineering (Gewalt-)Konflikte verstärken oder hervorrufen können. Allerdings sind die Zusammenhänge indirekt und komplex. Wichtig sind Institutionen und Ressourcengovernance, denn sie entscheiden darüber, wer von einer veränderten Ressourcenverfügbarkeit profitiert und wer nicht. Die Heat Hypothesis weist darauf hin, dass Temperaturerhöhungen zu aggressivem Verhalten und Gewalttaten von Individuen beitragen können. Aber auch hier sind einfache Wirkungszusammenhänge nach dem Schema „heißer gleich mehr Gewalt“ empirisch nicht belegt. Vielmehr müssen soziale und ökonomische Kontextfaktoren, wie beispielsweise sozialer Status und Einkommensverhältnisse, berücksichtig werden.

    The paper investigates an economic market potential for Plug-in Hybrid- and Battery Electric vehicles considering different categories of customers in Germany from 2015 to 2030. A multi-step methodology using constraints on the current vehicle registrations and inventory is developed to derive a general framework potential and a concrete economic potential for the different vehicles and ownership models under adjustable technical and legislative aspects.

  • Authors: Stiel, Florian;

    Vor dem Hintergrund demographischer Entwicklungen, der zunehmenden Nutzung von Informationstechnologien in unserem Alltag (Stichwort „Digitales Leben“) und einem begrenzten Maß natürlicher Ressourcen ist die Wissenschaft zunehmend gefordert, das Verhältnis aus Informationstechnologie, menschlichem Verhalten und unserer Umwelt neu zu hinterfragen. Gegenstand des Dissertationsvorhabens ist daher die Untersuchung von Informationssystemen im Hinblick auf deren ökologische Nachhaltigkeit. Dabei zeigt sich auf der einen Seite, dass Informationssysteme aufgrund der genutzten physischen IT-Infrastruktur (PCs, Server, Mobiltelefone etc.) als Ursache von Umweltproblematiken in Erscheinung treten können. Neben dem Stromverbrauch bei der Nutzung von IT steht dabei vor allem der Verbrauch seltener Metalle wie Gold, Palladium und Tantal sowie das Problem der Entsorgung von Altgeräten im Fokus. Auf der anderen Seite werden Informationssysteme zunehmend auch als Mittel zur Lösung von Umweltproblematiken gesehen. So können Informationssysteme dazu beitragen, Geschäftsprozesse effizienter und damit umweltfreundlicher zu gestalten, Konsumenten von Produkten und Dienstleistungen sowie Entscheider im Unternehmen für Umweltprobleme zu sensibilisieren oder neue umweltfreundliche Produktinnovationen zu unterstützen. Zur Untersuchung des Themenkomplexes werden etablierte Ansätze zur Untersuchung physischer Systeme auf Informationssysteme übertragen. Zum einen werden Methoden und Softwaretools aus dem Bereich ereignisdiskreter Simulationen (Materialflusssimulationen, Simulation von Supply Chains, Produktionsabläufen etc.) genutzt. Ereignisdiskrete Simulationen erlauben es, die Auswirkungen von Informationssystemen auf ein physisches System (z. B. eine Fabrik oder ein öffentliches Transportsystem) realitätsnah in einem Simulationsmodell abzubilden. Hierdurch ist es möglich eine Verbindung zwischen virtuellen Informationen und physischen Prozessen (z. B. Entstehung von CO2-Emission) herzustellen. Zum anderen werden Methoden und ...

    Authors: Schwede, Sebastian (Dipl.);

    Ziel der vorliegenden Dissertation war die Untersuchung und Optimierung des Biogasbildungspotentials der marinen Mikroalge \(\textit {Nannochloropsis salina}\) im Rahmen von Batchversuchen und einer semi-kontinuierlichen Langzeitstudie im Vergleich zu Maissilage. Im Rahmen der Batchersuche wurden der Salzgehalt, der robuste Zellwandaufbau und die unausgeglichene Nähstoffzusammensetzung der Algenbiomasse als limitierende Faktoren in der Vergärung der Mikroalge identifiziert. In semi-kontinuierlichen Langzeitversuchen wurde in der Monovergärung der Algenbiomasse eine konstante Zunahme des Ammoniumgehaltes und der Leitfähigkeit beobachtet, die in einer Störung des Prozessgleichgewichtes durch Akkumulierung von flüchtigen organischen Säuren resultierte. Durch Adaption der mikrobiellen Biozönose an die veränderten Bedingungen konnte zum Ende der Versuchsreihe ein stabiler Abbau der Algenbiomasse mit vermindertem Abbaugrad (ca. 50%) erreicht werden.

    Authors: Ladineo, Marcus;
