Are the network of businesses that aspire to a sustainable economic system (environmentally, socially and economically) able to evolve and resist in a non-facilitating if not averse framework? COVERING PLASTIC FILMS FOR PROTECTED TABLE GRAPE CULTIVATION In the last years, mainly in the southern regions of Italy, a wide dissemination of the protected cultivation of table grape in order to advance or to extend the harvesting period has been observed. The modification of the microclimate under the covering plastic films is closely related to their physical characteristics particularly to the radiometric ones like the transmissivity in the solar and long wave IR range. In the present research the radiometric characteristics of the plastic films used to advance the harvesting period in the table grape cultivation have been studied. Two different plastic films, LDPE and EVA, have been analysed by means of laboratory spectrophotometric tests and their radiometric characteristics have been evaluated. A trial was carried out in field in order to evaluate the effect of these two materials on the climatic parameters under the covering such as air temperature and solar radiation. The climatic parameters and the radiometric characteristics of the plastic films have been related moreover with the obtained agronomic results in the field trial in order to define the effect of the variation of the physical characteristics of the covering materials on the cultivation of table grape.

The undeniable truth of the serious consequences inflicted to our planet by a progress that is exclusively linked to quantitative growth and profit has paved the way for new development models based on the value of sustainability. However, sustainability is rarely spontaneously achieve: it is the result of an educational process through which individuals becomes aware of the interconnections that bind them to nature, to society and to humanity itself. It is relevant, therefore, to identify promising training environments to promote effective educational activities on sustainability, with the goal of nudging young people towards adequate lifestyles, creating dignified, creative and “green” jobs. Among these potentially relevant educational and training environments, work-related learning (Alternanza scuola-lavoro in Italian) and the paths for transversal skills and guidance (Percorsi per le competenze trasversali e per l’orientamento in Italian), provided in Italy for all students in the last three years of secondary schools, can represent successful educational opportunities to acquire, through active learning models, the tools needed to face the evolution of the educational processes and work- related dynamics, as well as to construct a responsible and competent citizenship, favoring a fair and lasting development for the benefit of current and future generations.
