The role of CSR manager is gaining increasing relevance in business organizations so that, in a recent contribution in management studies, they have been defined as ‘protagonists of a cause’. Nevertheless, few empiric studies have analysed the role of the CSR manager adopting the perspective of those managers who are actively involved in promoting CSR policies and practices within companies. In this research we adopt an “internal point of view” to study the evolution of the role of CSR manager. Thanks to twenty-six semi-structured interviews with CSR Managers, and four focus group interviews with managers holding CSR-related roles, which involved further nineteen participants, we explored the personal values, motivations and aspirations of those engaged in this managerial occupation, both in national and multinational companies. Analysing the interview transcripts, we identified six recurrent images that CSR managers use to describe their work. By that process, this research reconstructs the career paths characterizing the role, the current work experience of CSR managers, as well as the possible future developments of this managerial occupation. In conclusion, we fully developed the practical implications of our findings, which are presented and discussed in the paper.

The final result is a systematic framework of tall buildings morphological and functional features related to building and renewable energy sources systems, and identifies critical elements and design variables as well, usefull for comparing tall buildings with targets such as Net Zero Energy Building and Plus Energy Building. The thesis is divided into three thematic areas. First of all, it investigates the tall buildings’ embodied and operational energy, by going through the most up-to-date literature and post occupancy evaluation data. The specific aim is to identify innovatory architectural strategies aimed at enhancing the energy efficiency of tall buildings. The second part of the research looks into the potential that tall buildings have of generating power from renewable sources. On the basis of an analysis of the technologies for generating power from renewable energy sources, the criticalities and the potential of each system implemented in tall buildings have been highlighted, focusing on the key issues of integration, maintenance and safety. Finally, a targeted selection of case studies, both built and experimental designs, are aimed to outline the state of the art, in terms of the implementation of renewable energy generation systems in tall buildings.

Today cruise tourism represents an important share of tourism market. During 2018 this sector has handled 28.5 millions of passengers at the global level, whit an increasing higher than 600% from 1990 to today. At the same time, cruise sector is responsible of a large amount of impacts for the local communities, host territories, atmosphere and waterways. This sector is a touristic product multi-destination by sea because includes a large number of intermediate ports, selected for touristic attractions in order to satisfying a more detailed demand (e.g. by a medium level target of consumer-users with a fair awareness of environmental implications). This thesis, as a part of for the scientific disciplinary sector SECS-P/13 (Commodities Sciences), offers an opportunity to analyze the relationship between the growth of the cruise market and the management of environmental sustainability. We have tried to understand how sustainability approach it is implemented, both on the product supply’s side (cruise companies) and consumer's product side (cruise passengers). Then, this analysis allowed us to know weaknesses and strengths of this tourism sector. This thesis consists of three parts: a part is a review thesis (First Part - Review), a part is a descriptive and comparative research thesis (First Part - Regulations, Second Part - Impacts and Sustainability Report) and the last part is an experimental thesis (Third part - Applications). With the thesis "Environmental sustainability in cruise tourism. Some applications" we have offered some points of analysis for scientific research, in particular in the field of environmental impacts.
