description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article , Other literature type 2019Publisher:Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University Authors: M. I. Kulyk; M. A. Galytska; M. S. Samoylik; I. I. Zhornyk;Today clearing of contaminated soils from heavy metals, pesticide residues is very important problem for Ukraine. Soil pollution is considered to be the result of the functioning of metallurgical and chemical industrial enterprises, as well as the irrational application of chemical plant protection means in the agricultural sector. The range of such preparations as well as the areas of contaminated soils are increasing every year. Phytoremediation with the help of herbaceous plants is one of the most effective methods of decontamination. This list of plants should be supplemented by perennial energy crops, taking into account the absorbing powers of their root system. The basis for preparing the material was the multiple scientific literary sources of domestic and foreign scientists on an investigated theme, the working-out of relevant techniques and scientific and practical recommendations. We applied both general scientific methods (dialectics, analysis and synthesis) and special ones for conducting of analytical review of literature. The largest area of soil in Ukraine is contaminated with cobalt, molybdenum, and copper, whose content exceeds not only the background values but also the maximum permissible concentrations (MPC). It has been defined that the intensity of heavy metals transition in the system “soil-plant” of the energy crops has the following form Cd→Cu→Zn→Pb. Perennial energy crops are capable to create quickly an above ground phytomass and to form an aggressive root system that enables them to accumulate heavy metals from the soil. They can be new and important plants for phytoremediation. At the same time, the energy crops are allocated in accordance with agroclimatic zoning taking into account plant responses to the growing conditions and also applying the scheme of soil remediation from heavy metals. It has been established that energy crops (Switchgrass and Silvergrass) are Hyperaccumulators. They actively absorb heavy metals and partialy accumulate them in their underground and above ground parts. Silvergrass (Miscanthus giganteus) provides higher yield than switchgrass (Panicum virgatum), though switchgrass has less dry matter content, higher accumulation of heavy metals in plant phytomass but the maximum permissible concentration is lower than regulated standards. Silvergrass (Miscanthus giganteus) provides higher yield than switchgrass (Panicum virgatum), though switchgrass has less dry matter content, higher accumulation of heavy metals in plant phytomass and maximum permissible concentration is lower than regulated standards. On termination of the vegetation, the above-ground vegetative mass of these plants can undergo to proper processing that is an additional source of non-ferrous metals or biofuel production for energy purposes.

Abstract The JET 2019–2020 scientific and technological programme exploited the results of years of concerted scientific and engineering work, including the ITER-like wall (ILW: Be wall and W divertor) installed in 2010, improved diagnostic capabilities now fully available, a major neutral beam injection upgrade providing record power in 2019–2020, and tested the technical and procedural preparation for safe operation with tritium. Research along three complementary axes yielded a wealth of new results. Firstly, the JET plasma programme delivered scenarios suitable for high fusion power and alpha particle (α) physics in the coming D–T campaign (DTE2), with record sustained neutron rates, as well as plasmas for clarifying the impact of isotope mass on plasma core, edge and plasma-wall interactions, and for ITER pre-fusion power operation. The efficacy of the newly installed shattered pellet injector for mitigating disruption forces and runaway electrons was demonstrated. Secondly, research on the consequences of long-term exposure to JET-ILW plasma was completed, with emphasis on wall damage and fuel retention, and with analyses of wall materials and dust particles that will help validate assumptions and codes for design and operation of ITER and DEMO. Thirdly, the nuclear technology programme aiming to deliver maximum technological return from operations in D, T and D–T benefited from the highest D–D neutron yield in years, securing results for validating radiation transport and activation codes, and nuclear data for ITER.

Due to urbanization, large portions of vegetated territory have been replaced by waterproof surfaces. The consequences are greater outflows, lower infiltration, and lower evapotranspiration. Pavement systems made with permeable surfaces allow the infiltration of water, ensuring reduction of runoff volume. In this paper, the methods of analysis of the hydrological and environmental performance of the pavement systems are reviewed in the context of urban drainage and regarding their durability. The purpose is to present an overview of the studies published during the last decade in the field. The Pubmed and Web Science Core Collection electronic databases were used to conduct the scientific literature survey. This generated 1238 papers, of which only 17 met the criteria and were included and discussed in this review. The evidence drawn from the knowledge on which the document is based provides useful critical interpretations of existing studies to progress the current understanding on hydrological performance and environment impacts in terms of conventional pollutant removal efficiency and the current permeable pavement systems.

Authors: Salihaj, T.; Pryimenko, S.;Over the past decades, as a result of global environmental, energy and economic crises, the level of development of the fuel and energy complexes in the world has become one of the dominant factors determining the level of national security, the country’s competitiveness in the world market and its economic stability. At the same time, today the level of environmental and natural and technogenic safety of energy companies is extremely low in the world. Taking this into account, scientists and representatives of state authorities of various countries of the world, as well as intergovernmental associations and international organizations discuss the problem of searching for innovative sources of electric power generation for obtaining new types of energy products that can change innovative sources of electricity production and the global economy as a whole, and will increase the rationality of resource use and environmental safety of the country, regions and people.

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has become an attractive tool to predict pollutant concentration in the real environment. CFD software represents the most advanced mathematics that can be applied to simulation different physical process, including the transfer and dilution of fluid flow from aircraft, vehicle and other sources. This paper is an attempt to compare numerical simulation results of exhaust gases jet from aircraft near aerodrome surface by three CFD codes: Fluent 6.3, OpenFOAM and SolidWorks. The work is also focused on assessment of the aerodrome surface influence on jet’s parameters (height and longitudinal coordinate of buoyancy effect) and on providing of initial data for further dispersion modeling. The obtained results are also aimed to improve complex model PolEmiCa.

An installation has been improved that determines the effectiveness of sublayer extinguishing with fire-extinguishing aerosols; a procedure that has been devised for determining the intensity of thermal radiation implies equipping it with an additional heat flow meter HFM–01 at a distance of 30 and 60 mm. The task to establish the intensity of thermal radiation when burning alcohols and its impact on the process of sublayer extinguishing of alcohols with aerosols has been solved. The dependence of sublayer extinguishing efficiency on thermal radiation implies that the fire extinguishing aerosol completely shields the surface of the combustible liquid against its action. The result of this study has established that the intensity of thermal radiation at a distance of 60 and 30 mm from the surface of an alcohol flame with an area of 234 cm2 ranges from 0.8 to 4.7 kW/m2; the intensity of burning and, accordingly, radiation, maximizes on seconds 30‒40 of burning. It has been found that the intensity of thermal radiation for ethanol decreases with the addition of an aerosol with an intensity of up to 0.2 g/s, and decreases even more at the intensity of supply from 1.2 g/s. With a further increase in the intensity of aerosol supply, the radiation intensity begins to decrease, probably due to a decrease in the rate of combustion. In this case, the flame first decreases in size up to 2 times, and then, after 2‒3 seconds, it goes out. The use of fire-extinguishing aerosol for the sublayer extinguishing of alcohols ensures the effect of several factors that synergize and reduce the intensity of evaporation, burning, and, accordingly, thermal radiation

Subbotin name Authors: Starodub, Y.P.; Karpenko, V.M.; Havrys, A.P.; Behen, D.A.;The article presents an idea of the project that defines the development of a geothermal power plant methodology based on a single isolated well. It is planned to develop a technical and economic rationale and geological and geophysical aspects of the development of geothermal energy and to obtain data on deposits of geothermal water in the deep. Extraction of heat from hot rocks at the pits is to be carried out using a special energy carrier, construction of the operating column, and circulation mode. To create a model in the project, a well is needed with a depth of 4,702 m, temperature at the bottom of 130 °С, an unperforated casing string with a diameter of 245 mm to a depth of 4,500 m, and no formation fluids. The transfer and transformation of the energy carrier by the working body into electric and hydrogen energy is maintained by ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle). The development of the methodology includes two stages: The first stage of the project involves legal preparation at the local and state levels for the use of the land plot and technical means of the drilled well and obtaining licenses and permits for the implementation of the project. It is planned to develop a technical and economic feasibility study for the construction of a geothermal electric station that will generate electricity and hydrogen energy for consumers. The second stage of the project involves the technical preparation of the well for its use as part of a geothermal power station. Remediation of the well to a depth of 4,500 m is foreseen, as well as the implementation of industrial geophysical studies of the technical condition of the unperforated casing string; conducting preliminary geothermal studies on the stability and thermal productivity of hot rocks. The authors intend to use results in the oil-and-gas industry, which has deep wells that have completed their purpose for hydrocarbon extraction, as well as in the nuclear, metallurgical, chemical, and many other fields.

An objective of the study is to analyze existing strategies for the greening economy, the small and medium-sized enterprises’ awareness and special knowledge on environment. The authors observe that, despite the differences between the economic systems, Ukraine and Armenia, the countries of Eastern partnership, have common features of the post-Soviet management system and normative legislative base. The Government can help small and medium-sized enterprises to change their business practices and adapt to modern requirements, by “greening” the current strategy in the industry and innovation, promoting the concept of eco-efficient businesses and products and supporting the environmental innovation. The results reveal that in order to design a questionnaire for interviewing companies about barriers and drivers of green modernization of the economy, it is necessary to do a prior study on the basis of available data, results of research of international organizations and Ukrainian experts in order to compose a working hypothesis that will be a basis for design of the questionnaire.

description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article , Other literature type 2019Publisher:Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University Authors: M. I. Kulyk; M.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.eudescription Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Article , Journal 2021Publisher:Private Company Technology Center Authors: Volodymyr Balanyuk; Anton Kravchenko; Oleksandr Harasymyuk; This paper has theoretically substantiated and experimentally established the intensity of thermal radiation at burning and sublayer extinguishing of alcohols with environmentally acceptable aerosols.
