description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Conference object , Article 2019Publisher:IEEE Wei Liu; Li Xiaomeng; Kun Gao; Yufei Rao; Hua Wang; Chenghao Li;This paper studied the influence of transformer inrush current on commutation failure prevention control of Ultra-high voltage DC (UHVDC) transmission system. An actual event occurred on Tianzhong UHVDC transmission project was analyzed with data from fault recorder. UHVDC transmission model with commutation failure prevention control was established in PSCAD/EMTDC, and then it was applied to replay the event. It is found that the frequent maloperation of commutation failure control and the fluctuation of DC power exist when inrush current occurred. An improved commutation failure prevention control strategy was proposed to avoid this phenomenon. Validity of the improved method was proved by the simulation results.

Despite great progresses, current battery storage technology can at best achieve daily balancing but is prohibitively expensive for monthly or seasonal balancing. This paper discusses the potential of a cross-seasonal balancing option, which is a cross-seasonal load shift by firms in the industrial sector (or seasonal demand flexibility).

The existing methods of risk preference analysis need to design and execute questionnaires or experiments on the subjects, and hence are costly and time-consuming for bidding in electricity markets. This article proposes a new method of data-driven risk preference analysis for power generation plants based on historical data and inverse reinforcement learning. Historical data are transformed to the transition function model according to the specific market mechanism. An adjusted inverse reinforcement learning model is thereafter proposed along with the optimization objective and technical constraints. The proposed method is tested in a simulated electricity market environment using the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) day-ahead bidding data. Simulation results show that 1) thermal power plants prefer to adjust risk preferences within the day; 2) apart from the thermal power plants, the rest types of power plants are risk-neutral; 3) the daily risk preference trend of the thermal power plants varies in different seasons and is closely related to the load level.

However, smart meter measurements often are not synchronized which may cause inaccuracy and divergence when directly applied to distribution system state estimation (DSSE). In order to achieve higher accuracy, the load variation between the near real-time measurements and real-time measurements which is defined as credibility are considered with the historical residential loads taken by high sample rate meters. According to the statistical result, the load variation is exponential distributed at the 95% confidence level which is utilized to update the measurements weight and 95% confidence intervals of state variables are described. A 116-node distribution network is selected to validate the proposed method. And, simulation results demonstrated its accuracy and sensitivity.

However, the longterm phase-leading operation of the condenser will affect the safety and stability of the condenser itself and the power grid. It is necessary to study the characteristics of the voltage regulation of the condenser in terms of reducing the transient over-voltage at the DC transmission end, dealing with the DC commutation failure, bipolar blocking and three-phase permanent fault of the AC system. Based on the analysis of the operation mechanism of the condenser and the case of the long-term leading-phase operation in ZLT, the operation status of the power grid near the ZLT converter station is simulated and analyzed by PSASP. The influence of different starting mode and DC power on the supporting ability of dynamic reactive power is calculated. The research shows that the operation mode of the condenser can meet the demand of system, which provides a theoretical support for the safety and stability of the system.

Aiming at minimizing the monthly charge, the problem formulation is proposed as a generic algorithm that produces day-ahead building operation schedules. It considers the influences of daily peak load during on-peak hours and daily energy consumption on the monthly charge. The aggregation model of building-level space conditionings is built for scheduling demo. To obtain the near global optimum, a multi sub-swarms particle swarm optimization (MSPSO) is proposed by introducing the ideas of mutation operation, work hierarchy and iterative regrouping into particle swarm optimization (PSO). It improves the population diversity for enhancing the global searching ability and the ability of escaping from local optimum. The PSO comparison shows that MSPSO has better convergence performance with higher stability compared with some classical PSOs. Furthermore, a commercial office-style building with space conditionings is simulated. Using TOU and demand pricing plan from Duke Energy, numerical results demonstrate that the proposed day-ahead scheduling algorithm and the improved MSPSO can reduce the monthly charge by 30% and 17%, respectively.

However, it lacks appropriate modeling strategies for including both the temperature and state of charge effects into the thermal coupled equivalent circuit model. In this study, a unified artificial neural network based thermal coupled equivalent circuit model approach is proposed to accurately and reliably capture the electrical and thermal dynamics of lithium-ion batteries. Both reversible and irreversible heat generation mechanisms are introduced in the thermal model. The quantitative relationship between circuit parameters and temperature/state of charge in equivalent circuit model is modeled by artificial neural network. Both electrical and thermal related parameters are simultaneously identified by means of least square strategy with l 1 -norm penalty on output weights in artificial neural network and positive constraints on circuit parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed artificial neural network based thermal coupled equivalent circuit model approach is validated by the experimental constant current discharge, pulse current discharge test and hybrid pulse power characterization test of a commercial large-format pouch-type lithium-ion battery. It implies that the proposed hybrid modeling strategy can provide a general framework for the inclusion of other effects such as health state and current into battery models and can be easily extended to more complicated models such as first-principle electrochemical-thermal model.

description Publicationkeyboard_double_arrow_right Conference object , Article 2019Publisher:IEEE Wei Liu; Li Xiaomeng; Kun Gao; Yufei Rao; Hua Wang; Chenghao Li;This paper studied the influence of transformer inrush current on commutation failure prevention control of Ultra-high voltage DC (UHVDC) transmission system.

The whole system consists of distributed intelligent diagnosis center and online monitoring system, which has the functions of optical port power measurement, online monitoring and status diagnosis. When the system is applied in practice, it can greatly improve the measurement efficiency, avoid the damage caused by repeatedly inserting and inserting optical fiber during the debugging process and the interference caused by human factors, and promote the transformation of the stubborn disease of optical fiber link fault from " post processing " to " advance prevention ". It has the characteristics of flexible distribution and connection, which can directly carry out the operation equipment and shutdown equipment, and truly achieve the online monitoring and diagnosis of the whole life cycle. The developed system has been tested in the laboratory, and the corresponding functions have been verified.
