    The design of support structures of offshore wind turbines contains high number of design variables that influence load characteristics and structural responses. These variables are stochastic and cause many uncertainties. Some of them are examined in this study. It is investigated how scattering of site conditions and load parameters affect the structural response. It is exemplified in terms of stresses that contribute to the accumulated fatigue damage within a monopile substructure. Random sampling of combinations of site conditions and load parameters is performed in order to classify the effects of parameter scattering on the stress variability by means of Sobol’ indices. Analysis shows that the highest influence on stress outputs have the variations in the load parameters. The reason is the sensitivity of the structural dynamical response to the wave height increase and decrease of distance between the wave peak frequency and the structural eigenfrequencies. © 2017 ISOPE

  • Basierend auf einer Face-to-Face-Befragung von 411 Konsumenten in fünf verschiedenen Einkaufsstätten beantwortet dieser Beitrag Fragen zum Label-Awareness von Endverbrauchern. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Produktkennzeichen, wie beispielsweise das Fairtrade-Label, das Deutsche Bio-Siegel oder der Product-Carbon Footprint, vorwiegend von überdurchschnittlich gebildeten Käufergruppen im mittleren Alter wahrgenommen werden. Darüber hinaus haben das Umweltbewusstsein, das Kaufverhalten und die Wahl der Einkaufsstätte einen signifikanten Einfluss auf das Label-Bewusstsein. Diese Erkenntnisse sind dabei sowohl für die aktive Erinnerungsfähigkeit (Recall) als auch für die passive Gedächtnisleistung (Recognition) gültig. Die Befunde liefern damit für die Anbieter, die ihre Produkte mit Hilfe von Labels differenzieren wollen, wichtige Hinweise. Relevant sind die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse ebenfalls aus gesellschaftlich-politischer Perspektive mit Fokus auf umwelt- und sozialpolitische Fragestellungen. Label awareness: How closely does the consumer look? – An analysis of consumers’ label awareness with particular regard to the food sector Based on a face-to-face survey among 411 consumers in five different stores, this article intends to answer questions regarding consumers’ label awareness. The results show that labels such as the Fairtrade Label, the German Bio-Siegel or the Product Carbon Footprint are predominantly noticed by middle-aged, highly educated potential buyers. In addition, environmental awareness, purchasing behaviour and store choice significantly influence label awareness. As these results are valid for both active (recall) and passive (recognition) cognitive performance, they provide important information for suppliers who aim at making their products distinguishable by labels and they are of equal relevance from a social and political perspective which focuses on environmental and socio-political issues. Our findings thus provide information that is of relevance to suppliers who aim at differentiating their products by labels but which is also important from a social and political perspective in order to better deal with current social and environmental questions. Perception des labels: Est-ce que le consommateur y fait attention? – L’analyse de la sensibilité des consommateurs aux labels tient compte, en particulier, du domaine de l’alimentation A la base d’un sondage face-à-face parmi 411 consommateurs dans cinq magasins, l’article présent donne des réponses à des questions qui concernent la sensibilité des consommateurs au labels. Les résultats montrent que les logos comme celui du Fairtrade, le Bio-Siegel allemand ou le Product-Carbon Footprint sont surtout perçus par des groupes d’acheteurs d’age moyenne et d’une formation au dessus de la moyenne. En plus, la conscience environnementale, le comportement d’achat ainsi que le choix du magasin ont une influence significative sur la sensibilitéau labels. Ces connaissances sont valables aussi bien pour la mémoire active (Recall) que pour la mémoire passive (Recognition). Les résultats livrent donc des informations de relevance pour les fournisseurs qui veulent rendre leurs produits identifiables à l’aide de labels. Les connaissances obtenues sont également important du point de vue socio-politique en mettant l’accent sur des questions concernant l’environnement et sur des aspects socio-politiques.     Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt ein Vorgehensmodell auf, mit dem kundengruppenspezifische zeitvariable Tarife erstellt werden können, die sowohl für den Lieferanten als auch den Endkunden wirtschaftlich sind. Neben der Gewinnmaximierung des Lieferanten und der Forderung, dass der neue Tarif aus Kundensicht mindestens so gut sein muss wie der Referenztarif, wird der Aspekt der Einfachheit für den Kunden berücksichtigt. Im Gegensatz zur herkömmlichen Vorgehensweise in der existierenden Literatur werden in dieser Arbeit der Beginn und die Länge einer Zeitzone, in der ein bestimmter Preis gilt, für die Optimierung endogenisiert. Trotz der strengen Restriktion, die Kunden ohne Verhaltensanpassung die gleichen Kosten garantiert, lassen sich dadurch weitere Optimierungspotentiale erschließen.     The concept of structural redundancy is implemented in the fatigue analysis of an offshore wind turbine jacket structure. The analyzed jacket is a real life example. Time domain analyses are performed for the most representative design load case. The uni-directional and multidirectional simulations of the offshore wind turbine system are carried out using a coupling of the aero-elastic code and the finite element code. Fatigue analyses are performed using hot spot stress approach and Miner's rule. Comparative studies show that considering structural redundancy leads to expanded fatigue life of the offshore wind turbine jacket structures. © 2017 ISOPE

    Um die fluktuierende Stromerzeugung durch hohe Anteile erneuerbarer Energien auszugleichen, werden zukünftig in großem Maßstab Speichertechnologien benötigt. Gegenwärtig häufen sich jedoch Berichte über den Abbruch von geplanten Pumpspeicher-Neubauprojekten. Ein wichtiger Grund hierfür ist die vermehrte Einspeisung von PV- und Windstrom, die zu veränderten Verläufen der Residuallast führt. Durch den Wegfall der mittäglichen Preisspitze und sinkende Tag-Nacht-Preisunterschiede wird das klassische Geschäftsmodell von Pumpspeicherkraftwerken in Frage gestellt. In diesem Beitrag wird der am Markt beobachtbare Pumpspeichereinsatz einem simulierten lastglättenden Einsatz und einem simulierten preisbasierten Einsatz gegenübergestellt, um zu ermitteln, welche dieser beiden Strategien den realen Einsatz in Deutschland besser erklärt. Bei Betrachtung des über alle Tage des Simulationsjahres 2015 gemittelten stündlichen Einsatzes der deutschen Pumpspeicherkraftwerke zeigt sich, dass der simulierte preisbasierte Einsatz den generellen Verlauf des realen Einsatzes in allen Jahreszeiten gut nachbildet. Der lastglättende Einsatz übersteigt dagegen insbesondere in den Mittags- und Abendstunden im Sommer den realen Einsatz signifikant. Auch eine Analyse der kumulierten Jahresenergiemengen für Pump- und Turbinenbetrieb zeigt eine gute Übereinstimmung zwischen dem realen und simulierten preisbasierten Einsatz, während der simulierte lastglättende Einsatz zu deutlich größeren Energiemengen führt. Demnach sind die gegenwärtigen Marktbedingungen offenbar nicht geeignet, um das theoretische Potential zur Lastglättung vollständig auszuschöpfen.
