    Atualmente, existe uma necessidade cada vez maior das empresas adotarem algum tipo de medida de responsabilidade social corporativa. É uma obrigação da empresa alcançar metas sustentáveis de longo prazo para os seus funcionários e também para o mundo em geral. O papel do gestor de operações é conseguir balançar todos os desafios que surgem à medida que o ambiente económico, social político e tecnológico altera. Há toda uma análise necessária entre os incentivos que o governo de cada país fornece e o proveito que a empresa consegue retirar da implementação destas políticas. Surge aqui a questão fulcral se a adoção destas políticas não é meramente por interesses económicos por parte destas organizações. O presente trabalho visa, por isso, avaliar a aplicação de medidas de responsabilidade social corporativa em empresas internacionais. Foi elaborado através do estudo e análise de duas organizações internacionais com as suas operações já delineadas, a FARFETCH e a FERPINTA. Ao longo do trabalho são avaliados os desafios enfrentados por estes dois grupos internacionais cujo as indústrias nas quais operam são inequivocamente diferentes. Inicialmente, realiza-se revisão de literatura, de seguida é feito um resumo dos dois grupos. Posteriormente, é feita a análise das entrevistas levadas a cabo com diferentes colaboradores e de diferentes departamentos das empresas de forma a recolher uma amostra variada dos pontos de vistas e das ações de responsabilidade social levadas a cabo. Por fim, é feita uma análise geral com a análise dos resultados das entrevistas e dados recolhidos. Após recolhidas e formuladas as análises, são sugeridas possíveis ações de implementação por parte das empresas. Currently, there is an increasing need for companies to adopt some kind of corporate social responsibility measure. It is an obligation of the company to achieve sustainable long-term goals for its employees and also for the world at large. The operations manager's role is to balance all the challenges that arise as the economic, social, political, and technological environment changes. There is a whole necessary analysis between the incentives that the government of each country provides and the benefit that the company is able to derive from the implementation of these policies. Here, the central question arises whether the adoption of these policies is not merely for economic interests. The present work aims, therefore, to evaluate the application of corporate social responsibility measures in international companies. It was prepared through the study and analysis of two international organizations with their operations already outlined, FARFETCH and FERPINTA. Throughout the work, the challenges faced by these two international groups whose industries in which they operate are unequivocally different are evaluated. Initially, a literature review is carried out, followed by a summary of the two groups. Subsequently, an analysis of the interviews is carried out with different employees and from different departments of the companies in order to collect a varied sample of the points of view and the social responsibility actions implemented. Finally, a general analysis is made with the evaluation of the results of the interviews and data collected. After collecting and formulating the analyses, possible implementation actions by the companies are suggested.

    Authors: Ivo, Nicole de Almeida;

    Parceria com a Universidade de Lisboa - Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território Num mundo contemporâneo cada vez mais globalizado, não é de estranhar o papel que o turismo tem demonstrado num meio onde as experiências deixam de pertencer menos ao domínio do local, começando a envolver vários contactos e experiências universais, resultando num interculturalismo que compõe a partilha entre turista e comunidade, essencial ao estabelecimento de uma tipologia turística como o justice tourism. Daqui surgem vários fatores que podem, quando manobrados de certa forma, ser manipulados para o empreendimento do bem-estar e conservação das comunidades. O objetivo geral desta dissertação, passa, assim, por explicar um fenómeno turístico recente a que chamamos de justice tourism, um modelo de turismo alternativo que em muito difere de outras tipologias turísticas com que por vezes é comparado, nomeadamente o pro poor tourism e o peace through tourism, como à frente se verá. Depois de aprofundarmos os conceitos de ética, justiça, multiculturalismo, sustentabilidade, paz e direitos humanos, essenciais para enquadrar e problematizar o justice tourism, a nossa atenção debruçar-se-á na compreensão do núcleo desta tipologia turística. A sua essência, passa, assim, por ser uma forma justa de viajar entre membros de diferentes comunidades, visando atingir o entendimento mútuo, solidariedade e igualdade entre participantes. O justice tourism é um dos mais eficazes meios de promover o entendimento e respeito mútuos, bem como a educação, trocas económicas e proteção ambiental, tendo um papel central na conservação da vida comunitária. Com o aprofundamento de tais conceitos levaremos a nossa direção para o caso empírico da Guiné-Bissau. Com uma história marcadamente conturbada, marcada por sucessivos golpes de Estado, crises políticas, corrupção e pelo seu relevante papel no narcotráfico, o país parece não encontrar maneira de aproveitar os seus vastos recursos naturais e a conservação dos seus grupos étnicos para a promoção de um turismo sustentável que levaria a um maior desenvolvimento político, cultural e económico. Assim, compreendendo informação relativa às características que compõem a Guiné Bissau, perceberemos se será possível implementar no país este modelo de turismo que se denomina de justice tourism. In an increasingly globalized contemporary world, it is not surprising to notice the role that tourism has shown in a milieu where experiences not only belong to the realm of the local, thus beginning to get involved in various universal contacts and experiences. This results in an interculturalism that makes the sharing between tourist and community essential to the establishment of a tourist typology such as justice tourism. From here arise several factors that can, when maneuvered in a certain way, be manipulated for the undertaking of the communities' well-being and conservation. The primary goal of this dissertation is, therefore, to explain the recent tourist phenomenon that we call justice tourism, an alternative tourism model that is very different from other tourist typologies with which it is sometimes compared, namely poor pro tourism and peace through tourism, as we will see below. After dwelling into the concepts of ethics, justice, multiculturalism, sustainability, peace and human rights, essential to frame and problematize justice tourism, our attention will focus on understanding the core of this tourist typology. Its essence is, therefore, to be a fair way of traveling among members of different communities, aiming to achieve mutual understanding, solidarity and equality among participants. Justice tourism is one of the most effective means of promoting mutual understanding and respect, as well as education, economic exchange, and where environmental protection plays a central role in the conservation of life within the community. With the deepening of such concepts, we will redirect our attention to the empirical case of Guinea-Bissau. With a troubled history, marked by successive coups d'état, political crises, corruption and its relevant role in drug trafficking, the country does not seem to find a way to take advantage of its vast natural resources and the conservation of its ethnic groups for the promotion of a sustainable tourism that would lead to greater political, cultural and economic development. Thus, by collecting data regarding the characteristics that make up Guinea-Bissau, we will try to determine the possibilities of implementing justice tourism in the country.

    Relatório de Estágio do Mestrado em Gestão apresentado à Faculdade de Economia No âmbito do Mestrado em Gestão da Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra, foi elaborado o presente documento que reflete o estágio curricular de 4 meses realizado na EDP-Gestão da Produção. A temática da RSE, escolhida como foco do presente relatório, surge por ter emergido como uma preocupação central a vários dos assuntos abordados durante o estágio e por se considerar um tema central para a empresa EDP, desde logo por fazer parte do Índice de Sustentabilidade Dow Jones. O objetivo do trabalho é o desenvolvimento das principais temáticas da RSE, apresentando-se a evolução conceptual, os principais modelos teóricos e a sistematização das teorias, assim como a abordagem Europeia e Nacional à RSE, a distinção dos conceitos de RSE, Sustentabilidade e Desenvolvimento Sustentável, as vantagens da implementação da RSE e os instrumentos e ferramentas que são utilizados pelas empresas – normas internacionais, relatórios de sustentabilidade, GRI Standards e índices de RSE. Por fim, analisa-se o impacto da RSE nas comunidades locais, recorrendo ao estudo do Relatório de Sustentabilidade da EDP. Pode-se inferir que as práticas de RSE têm um impacto bastante positivo nas comunidades locais, quer ao nível do seu bem-estar quer ao nível do desenvolvimento económico e que o desenvolvimento e investimento em práticas de Responsabilidade Social tem também um retorno positivo para a empresa. A EDP tem um elevado comprometimento com as comunidades locais ao desenvolver um conjunto de programas de investimento social, assumindo a sustentabilidade no seu ADN e contribuindo ativamente e de forma voluntária para os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS). As part of the Master’s degree in Management at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra, this document was prepared to reflect the curricular internship of 4 months held at EDP-Production Management. The theme of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), chosen as the focus of this report, emerged as a central concern to several of the issues addressed during the internship and because it is considered a central theme for the EDP company, since it is part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. The aim of the work is the development of the main themes of CSR, presenting the conceptual evolution, the main theoretical models and the systematization of theories, as well as the European and National approach to CSR, the distinction of the concepts of CSR, Sustainability and Sustainable Development, the advantages of the implementation of CSR and the tools that are used by companies – international standards, sustainability reports, GRI Standards and CSR indexes. Finally, the impact of CSR on local communities is analyzed, using the study of EDP’s Sustainability Report. It can be inferred that CSR practices have a very positive impact on local communities, both in terms of their well-being and in terms of economic development and that the development and investment in Social Responsibility practices also have a positive return on the company. EDP has a high commitment to local communities by developing a set of social investment programs, assuming sustainability in its DNA and contributing actively and voluntarily to the Sustainable Development Goals.

    Authors: Matias, Daniel Rodrigues;

    Esta dissertação explora as potencialidades do enoturismo sustentável na região de Torres Vedras, em Portugal. Com base em uma revisão bibliográfica sobre o tema, foram identificadas as principais práticas de enoturismo sustentável e seu impacto positivo na conservação ambiental e no desenvolvimento socioeconómico, no concelho, em Portugal e também no mundo. A pesquisa foi realizada às entidades de enoturismo da região, onde foram coletados dados quantitativos por meio de questionários aos responsáveis por essas unidades. Os resultados mostram que apesar de ainda a região de Torres Vedras possui um grande potencial para o desenvolvimento de enoturismo sustentável, pois para além do trabalho que tem vindo a ser feito por parte das entidades publicas da região, conta ainda com suas paisagens naturais e ricas tradições ligadas à vitivinicultura. Tendo em conta que cada vez mais há uma procura por parte dos turistas em destinos e empresas que tenham preocupações e atitudes ambientais responsáveis, ainda há muito trabalho a ser feito por parte das empresas inquiridas neste estudo. Para além disso, ainda existe uma grande necessidade que todas as entidades locais trabalhem em conjunto para que exista um o desenvolvimento sustentável no concelho. O estudo conclui que o enoturismo sustentável pode ser uma estratégia importante para promover o desenvolvimento socioeconómico da região de Torres Vedras, ao mesmo tempo em que se preserva o património natural e cultural da região e ainda pode permitir ao concelho ser o primeiro destino de enoturismo sustentável no mundo. This dissertation explores the potential of sustainable wine tourism in the Torres Vedras region of Portugal. Based on a literature review on the topic, the main sustainable wine tourism practices and their positive impact on environmental conservation and socio-economic development, in the county, in Portugal and also worldwide, were identified. The research was carried out to the wine tourism entities in the region, where quantitative data was collected by means of questionnaires to those responsible for these units. The results show that although the Torres Vedras region still has great potential for the development of sustainable wine tourism, because besides the work that has been done by the public entities in the region, it still has its natural landscapes and rich traditions linked to vitiviniculture. Bearing in mind that there is an increasing demand from tourists for destinations and companies with responsible environmental concerns and attitudes, there is still a lot of work to be done by the companies surveyed in this study. Besides this, there is still a great need for all the local entities to work together so that there may be a sustainable development in the municipality. The study concludes that sustainable wine tourism can be an important strategy to promote the socio-economic development of the Torres Vedras region, while preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the region and can also allow the municipality to be the first sustainable wine tourism destination in the world.

    Authors: Branco, Daniel Dias;

    Com o crescente interesse em temas de cariz ambiental, em particular sobre energias renováveis, quer por parte do público, quer por parte dos legisladores, impõe-se cada vez mais que haja investigação económica nesta área. Esta dissertação apresenta um contributo para o conhecimento científico de economia da energia, tendo como objetivo estudar o impacto económico do aumento do consumo de energias renováveis na União Europeia, quantificando-o através de um modelo econométrico de dados em painéis com dados referentes aos anos compreendidos entre 2004 e 2019. Pretende-se contribuir para um maior conhecimento sobre o tema e assim poder fazer uma análise mais informada acerca das várias políticas ambientais vigentes. O modelo econométrico utilizado nesta dissertação provém da autora Inglesi-Lotz (2015), que realizou um estudo para os países da OCDE entre 1990 e 2010. Esta dissertação pode ser considerada como uma atualização desse trabalho para uma realidade distinta. Desenvolveram-se quatro sub-modelos que pretendem mostrar a relação entre as variações no consumo de energia renovável, na formação bruta de capital, no número de empregados, e nas despesas de I&D, nas variações do PIB e do PIBpc, isto é, qual o efeito daquelas variáveis no crescimento dos países. Estimou-se ainda um quinto modelo, que inverte o primeiro, e explica o consumo de energia renovável através das demais variáveis. Pode-se concluir através dos resultados obtidos que o aumento do consumo de energias renováveis teve um impacto positivo no crescimento económico da União Europeia, medido pelo PIB, entre 2004 e 2019. Por isso, não só a transição energética para um consumo de energia mais verde traz benefícios ambientais como tem sido um contribuidor positivo para a melhoria das condições económicas. With the growing interest in issues of an environmental nature, in particular on renewable energies, both by the public and by legislators, it is increasingly necessary that there is more economic research in this area. This dissertation presents a contribution to the scientific knowledge of energy economics, aiming to study the economic impact of increased consumption of renewable energy in the European Union, quantifying it through an econometric panel data model with data referring to the years between 2004 and 2019. It is intended to contribute to greater knowledge on the subject and thus enabling a more informed analysis of the various environmental policies in force. The econometric model used in this dissertation comes from the author Inglesi-Lotz (2015), who carried out a study for OECD countries between 1990 and 2010. This dissertation can be considered as an update of this work to a different reality. Four submodels were developed that aim to show the relationship between variations in renewable energy consumption, gross capital formation, number of employees, and R&D expenditure, variations in GDP and GDPpc, that is, what is the effect of those variables on the growth of countries. A fifth model was also estimated, which inverts the first, and explains the consumption of renewable energy through the other variables. It can be concluded from the results obtained that the increase in the consumption of renewable energy had a positive impact on the economic growth of the European Union, measured by GDP, between 2004 and 2019. Therefore, not only does the energy transition to greener energy consumption brings environmental benefits, it has also been a positive contributor to improving economic conditions.     Authors: Ribeiro, Ângela Catarina Pereira;

    Dadas as alterações climáticas vividas nas últimas décadas, surgiu o debate sobre as suas causas e consequências. As causas das alterações climáticas estão associadas, maioritariamente, à atividade humana. As consequências são extremamente graves e afetam muitos aspetos do quotidiano. As centrais que produzem energia necessária para a eletricidade e aquecimento das casas contribuem para este fenómeno, por intermédio da emissão de gases com efeito de estufa. O setor doméstico é o terceiro maior consumidor de energia e a eletricidade surge como a principal fonte de energia consumida pelo mesmo em Portugal. Sendo que todas as reduções de emissões contribuem para desacelerar o aquecimento global, focamos na redução do consumo doméstico de eletricidade. A presente dissertação tem como principal objetivo a identificação dos impulsionadores do consumo doméstico de eletricidade para as NUTS II de Portugal no período de 2000 a 2020. A metodologia adotada segue uma abordagem econométrica, com suporte numa base de dados em painel. Os resultados empíricos indicam que o preço da eletricidade, o capital humano, a privação material e o risco de pobreza têm um efeito negativo sobre o consumo doméstico de eletricidade. Contudo, o rendimento disponível das famílias, apesar de impulsionar este consumo, juntamente ao preço da eletricidade e ao capital humano, não demonstrou um efeito claro sobre o mesmo, assim como, as condições climáticas. Por outro lado, outras variáveis parecem não ter qualquer influência, incluindo o desemprego de longa duração e os períodos de recessão. Estes resultados sugerem que políticas baseadas em campanhas de informação e programas de incentivos são as mais eficazes para ajudar a combater as alterações climáticas. In view of the climate changes experienced in the past few decades, a debate has arisen concerning its causes and consequences. Climate change is related, for the most part, with human activity. Its consequences are extremely serious and affect many aspects of everyday life. The power plants which produce the necessary energy for household electricty and heating contribute to this effect through the emission of greenhouse gases. The household sector is the third largest consumer of energy, and electricty emerges as its main power source in Portugal. Considering that all reductions of greenhouse emissions contribute to the decelaration of global warming, we have chosen to focus on the reduction of household electricity consumption. The main objective of this dissertation is the identification of the drivers of household electricity consumption within Portugal’s NUTS II, in the 2000 to 2020 time frame. The employed methodology follows an econometric approach, with recourse to a panel database. Empirical results indicate that the price of electricity, human capital, material deprivation and poverty risk have a negative effect on household electricity consumption. Nevertheless, disponsable income of households, in spite of propelling this consumption, together with the price of electricity and human capital, has not been demonstrated to have a clear effect on electrical household consumption, as well as the climate conditions. On the other hand, other variables, such as long-term unemployment or periods of recession, seem to have no influence on consumption whatsoever. These results suggest that policies based on information campaigns and incentives programs are the most operative means to aid in combatting climate change.     Authors: Santos, Ana Beatriz de Almeida;

    A presente tese de mestrado visa a compreensão do impacto do turismo massificado e da sustentabilidade no setor da reabilitação de edifícios na freguesia de Cedofeita, localizada na cidade do Porto, entre o período de 2015 e 2020. Em uma primeira fase, destacou-se a importância da compreensão dos conceitos internacionais de conservação, reabilitação e restauro de forma a obter um bom alicerce para compreender como tem sido feita a reabilitação de edifícios históricos e de edifícios comuns. Diante do cenário apresentado, o objetivo geral desta investigação é apresentar uma leitura integrada dos tópicos que envolvem a reabilitação, o turismo de massas e a sustentabilidade. A partir desse cenário, abordou-se a reabilitação urbana predominante em uma das maiores cidades portuguesas, o Porto. Em uma primeira fase, analisou-se o impacto negativo e positivo do turismo massificado no Porto entre 2015 e 2020, ocasionando os fenômenos da turistificação e aceleração da gentrificação. Salientou-se a relação do turismo com a reabilitação e de como os reflexos desta união afetam a economia. O setor imobiliário a longo, médio e curto prazo assumiu grande importância no contexto turístico. Devido a esse fator, empresas como o Airbnb, que pertence ao ramo do alojamento, e a Idealista, que pertence ao setor imobiliário, ganharam maior evidência no setor imobiliário habitacional portuense. Em um segundo momento, a pesquisa teve como foco a análise do impacto da situação pandémica provocada pelo COVID-19, tendo como base especificamente os edifícios históricos e comuns reabilitados na região de Cedofeita. Empresas como a Remax e a Era já existiam independentemente do turismo, mas também contribuíram com o crescimento do setor imobiliário. Relata-se também o impacto da pandemia COVID-19 no ano de 2020 e 2021 que afetou o turismo de forma extraordinária e sem precedentes. Posteriormente, propõe-se uma reflexão sobre a implementação da sustentabilidade na reabilitação edilícia no contexto específico do Porto. Os países pertencentes à União Europeia, em 2019, assinaram o Pacto Ecológico Europeu que visa atingir a neutralidade carbônica até 2050. Face ao acordo, estão sendo elaboradas medidas específicas em cada país de forma a atingir o objetivo. Nesta etapa foi apontado o conceito de Economia Circular e os seus efeitos na economia portuguesa, bem como as vantagens da implementação da tecnologia BIM aplicada à sustentabilidade edilícia. O BIM é uma tecnologia que contribuído com o alcance da sustentabilidade na reabilitação de edifícios do Porto. A fim de que seja proposta uma análise dos edifícios reabilitados no Porto, foi feito um recorte geográfico e temporal, tendo-se selecionado os edifícios pertencentes à freguesia de Cedofeita, reabilitados de 2015 a 2020 como caso de estudo. This master's thesis aims to understand the impact of mass tourism and sustainability in the sector of rehabilitation of buildings in the parish of Cedofeita, located in the city of Porto, between 2015 and 2020. In a first stage we tried to highlight the understanding of international concepts of conservation, rehabilitation and restoration in order to obtain a good basis to identify how the rehabilitation of historic buildings and common buildings has been carried out. Given the scenario presented, the general objective of this investigation is to outline an integrated reading of the topics that involve rehabilitation, mass tourism and sustainability. Accordingly, an approach to the predominant urban rehabilitation in one of the largest Portuguese citie as Porto, was made In a first phase the negative and positive impact of mass tourism causing the phenomena of touristification and acceleration of gentrification, in Porto, between 2015 and 2020 was analyzed, The relationship between tourism and rehabilitation was highlighted as the effects of the gathering of these two issues affect the economy. The long, medium and short term real estate sector has assumed great importance in the tourism context. Due to this factor, companies such as Airbnb, which belongs to the accommodation sector, and Idealista, which belongs to the real estate sector, gained greater evidence in the Porto housing real estate sector. In a second moment, the research focused on analyzing the impact of the pandemic situation caused by COVID-19, specifically based on the historic and common buildings rehabilitated in the Cedofeita region. Companies like Remax and Era already existed independently of mass tourism, but they also contributed to the growth of the real estate sector. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the year 2020 and 2021 is also reported, as a factor that affected tourism in an extraordinary and unprecedented way. Subsequently, a reflection on the implementation of sustainability in building rehabilitation in the specific context of Porto is proposed. The countries belonging to the European Union, in 2019, signed the European Ecological Pact, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In view of the agreement, specific measures are being prepared in each country in order to achieve the goal. At this stage, the concept of the Circular Economy and its effects on the Portuguese economy were pointed out, as well as the advantages of implementing BIM technology applied to building sustainability. BIM is a technology that has contributed to achieving sustainability in the rehabilitation of buildings in Porto. In order to propose an analysis of the rehabilitated buildings in Porto, a geographical and temporal framework was made, having selected the buildings belonging to the parish of Cedofeita, rehabilitated from 2015 to 2020 as a case study.

    This chapter aims to characterize the component dimensions of a methodological arrangement for inducing entrepreneurship policies in the context of sustainable local development. In constructing this work, the Web of Science and Spell databases and books, theses, and dissertations were consulted to seek an approximation between the investigated dimensions, namely: public policies for entrepreneurship and sustainable local development. The broader scope of this study is to apply these dimensions in productive sectors in future empirical research. Thus, it is concluded that for the elaboration of a methodological arrangement in the induction of entrepreneurship policies in the context of sustainable local development, the dimensions to be considered in this construct must be supported by integrative, participatory, rational, complex, and systemic theories.     Authors: Lagoa, Margarida Alexandra Alves Carlota Mamede;

    O desperdício alimentar é uma questão atual e urgente, sobretudo, num mundo que enfrenta não só o flagelo da fome e da desigualdade, como a problemática das alterações climáticas. Neste contexto, os modelos de negócio sustentáveis, que visam combater o desperdício alimentar, tornam-se essenciais para a construção de uma sociedade mais justa, verde e responsável. A presente investigação tem como objetivo primordial identificar as principais barreiras e drivers sentidos na criação destes modelos de negócio. Trata-se de um estudo maioritariamente qualitativo, de natureza descritiva. No que concerne aos principais impulsionadores destacam-se o reduzido número de empresas a operar neste mercado aliado ao crescente interesse e recetividade dos consumidores, motivados quer por razões ambientais quer económicas. Relativamente aos desafios, prendem-se sobretudo com as inúmeras dificuldades logísticas sentidas por maior parte dos negócios, independentemente da fase da cadeia onde se situam. No futuro, fruto das repercussões da atual situação económica a par de um aumento da literacia ambiental e alimentar, estima-se uma maior adesão a estes modelos de negócio por parte dos consumidores portugueses. Resultante desta procura crescente, espera-se o aparecimento de cada vez mais iniciativas focadas na economia circular e na sustentabilidade do planeta, de forma a minimizar este problema global. Food waste is a current and urgent issue, especially in a world facing not only the scourge of hunger and inequality, but also the problem of climate change. In this context, sustainable business models, which aim to combat food waste, become crucial for the construction of a fairer, greener, and more responsible society. The main objective of this research is to identify the main barriers and drivers experienced in the establishment of these business models. It is a mostly qualitative study, descriptive in nature. The main drivers are the small number of companies operating in this market allied to the growing interest and receptivity of consumers, motivated by both environmental and economic reasons. Regarding the challenges, they are mainly related to the numerous logistical difficulties experienced by most businesses, regardless of the stage of the supply chain where they are located. In the future, because of §the repercussions of the current economic situation combined with an increase in environmental and food literacy, it is estimated that there will be a greater adoption of these business models by Portuguese consumers. As a result of this growing demand, we expect the emergence of more and more initiatives focused on the circular economy and the sustainability of the planet, to mitigate this global problem.

    Authors: Pinheiro, Lúcia Assunção Freitas;

    The present dissertation was developed in the company 4Teams- Advertising & Merchandising, SA, within the scope of the Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering, with the aim of analyzing and improving the processes associated with logistics management and the current situation regarding the introduction of practices of sustainability. Not only was the logistical management of a new clothing brand analyzed, but other points of analysis were also raised at the core business level, such as the possibility of yarn shortages, the main raw material of the articles produced in the company, and also the lack of control over the creation of deadstock generated due to defects, surpluses and poor demand forecasts. Within the scope of logistics management, several opportunities for improvement arose in terms of the reformulation of processes, creation of records and control points, restructuring of supply limits, and commercial effort. The analysis also focused on the current situation in terms of sustainability in the company's various production processes, with a long way to go since the environmental impact of the various production processes was not considered. Still, within the context of sustainability, the mapping and identification of waste gave rise to the implementation of improvement measures throughout all the production processes. Improvement actions were developed and implemented in terms of logistics management and sustainability and very broad projects emerged in this sense, as is the example of the Loop project that solved the problemof deadstock and allowed the textile recycling of both articles in stock, and the generation of waste throughout the process. The improvement actions proposed and implemented generated significant positive contributions and results, such as the reduction of defective items, the reduction of orders outside the compliance limits and the introduction and analysis of various performance indicators. Other proposed improvement actions were only in the design phase, as is the case of the Sampless project, which has as a future objective the elimination of physical samples, replacing them with digital ones. A presente dissertação foi desenvolvida na empresa 4Teams- Advertising & Merchandising, SA, no âmbito do Mestrado em Engenharia Industrial, com o objetivo de analisar e melhorar os processos associados à gestão logística na empresa e o ponto de situação relativo à introdução de práticas de sustentabilidade. Analisou-se não só a gestão logística de uma nova marca de roupa, como foram também levantados outros pontos de análise ao nível do core business, tais como a possibilidade de escassez de fio, a matéria-prima principal dos artigos produzidos na empresa, e ainda a falta de controlo sobre a criação de stock morto, gerado devido a defeitos, excedentes e deficientes previsões da procura. Surgiram, no âmbito da gestão logística, várias oportunidades de melhoria a nível de reformulação de processos, criação de registos e pontos de controlo, reestruturação de limites de fornecimento, e esforço comercial. A análise recaiu ainda sobre o ponto de situação ao nível da sustentabilidade nos vários processos produtivos da empresa, verificando-se a existência de um amplo caminho a percorrer, uma vez que o impacto ambiental dos vários processos produtivos não era considerado. Ainda no âmbito da sustentabilidade, o mapeamento e identificação de resíduos deu origem à implementação de medidas de melhoria ao longo de todos os processos de produção. Foram desenvolvida e implementadas ações de melhoria ao nível da gestão logística e da sustentabilidade e surgiram projetos muito amplos neste sentido, como é o exemplo do projeto Loop que resolveu o problema do stock morto e permitiu a reciclagem têxtil tanto dos artigos em stock como dos resíduos gerados ao longo do processo. As ações de melhoria propostas e implementadas geraram contribuições e resultados positivos significativos, tais como a redução de artigos com defeito, a redução de encomendas fora dos limites de conformidade e a introdução e análise de vários indicadores de desempenho. Outras ações de melhoria propostas ficaram apenas na fase de projeto, como é o caso do projeto Sampless que tem como objetivo futuro a eliminação das amostras físicas, substituindo-as por amostras digitais.     Authors: Vilaça, Patrícia Pinheiro da Silva;

    Authors: Ivo, Nicole de Almeida;

    Authors: Branco, Daniel Dias;

    Com o crescente interesse em temas de cariz ambiental, em particular sobre energias renováveis, quer por parte do público, quer por parte dos legisladores, impõe-se cada vez mais que haja investigação económica nesta área. Esta dissertação apresenta um contributo para o conhecimento científico de economia da energia, tendo como objetivo estudar o impacto económico do aumento do consumo de energias renováveis na União Europeia, quantificando-o através de um modelo econométrico de dados em painéis com dados referentes aos anos compreendidos entre 2004 e 2019. Pretende-se contribuir para um maior conhecimento sobre o tema e assim poder fazer uma análise mais informada acerca das várias políticas ambientais vigentes. O modelo econométrico utilizado nesta dissertação provém da autora Inglesi-Lotz (2015), que realizou um estudo para os países da OCDE entre 1990 e 2010. Esta dissertação pode ser considerada como uma atualização desse trabalho para uma realidade distinta. Desenvolveram-se quatro sub-modelos que pretendem mostrar a relação entre as variações no consumo de energia renovável, na formação bruta de capital, no número de empregados, e nas despesas de I&D, nas variações do PIB e do PIBpc, isto é, qual o efeito daquelas variáveis no crescimento dos países. Estimou-se ainda um quinto modelo, que inverte o primeiro, e explica o consumo de energia renovável através das demais variáveis. Pode-se concluir através dos resultados obtidos que o aumento do consumo de energias renováveis teve um impacto positivo no crescimento económico da União Europeia, medido pelo PIB, entre 2004 e 2019. Por isso, não só a transição energética para um consumo de energia mais verde traz benefícios ambientais como tem sido um contribuidor positivo para a melhoria das condições económicas. With the growing interest in issues of an environmental nature, in particular on renewable energies, both by the public and by legislators, it is increasingly necessary that there is more economic research in this area. This dissertation presents a contribution to the scientific knowledge of energy economics, aiming to study the economic impact of increased consumption of renewable energy in the European Union, quantifying it through an econometric panel data model with data referring to the years between 2004 and 2019. It is intended to contribute to greater knowledge on the subject and thus enabling a more informed analysis of the various environmental policies in force. The econometric model used in this dissertation comes from the author Inglesi-Lotz (2015), who carried out a study for OECD countries between 1990 and 2010. This dissertation can be considered as an update of this work to a different reality. Four submodels were developed that aim to show the relationship between variations in renewable energy consumption, gross capital formation, number of employees, and R&D expenditure, variations in GDP and GDPpc, that is, what is the effect of those variables on the growth of countries. A fifth model was also estimated, which inverts the first, and explains the consumption of renewable energy through the other variables. It can be concluded from the results obtained that the increase in the consumption of renewable energy had a positive impact on the economic growth of the European Union, measured by GDP, between 2004 and 2019. Therefore, not only does the energy transition to greener energy consumption brings environmental benefits, it has also been a positive contributor to improving economic conditions.     Authors: Ribeiro, Ângela Catarina Pereira;

    Dadas as alterações climáticas vividas nas últimas décadas, surgiu o debate sobre as suas causas e consequências. As causas das alterações climáticas estão associadas, maioritariamente, à atividade humana. As consequências são extremamente graves e afetam muitos aspetos do quotidiano. As centrais que produzem energia necessária para a eletricidade e aquecimento das casas contribuem para este fenómeno, por intermédio da emissão de gases com efeito de estufa. O setor doméstico é o terceiro maior consumidor de energia e a eletricidade surge como a principal fonte de energia consumida pelo mesmo em Portugal. Sendo que todas as reduções de emissões contribuem para desacelerar o aquecimento global, focamos na redução do consumo doméstico de eletricidade. A presente dissertação tem como principal objetivo a identificação dos impulsionadores do consumo doméstico de eletricidade para as NUTS II de Portugal no período de 2000 a 2020. A metodologia adotada segue uma abordagem econométrica, com suporte numa base de dados em painel. Os resultados empíricos indicam que o preço da eletricidade, o capital humano, a privação material e o risco de pobreza têm um efeito negativo sobre o consumo doméstico de eletricidade. Contudo, o rendimento disponível das famílias, apesar de impulsionar este consumo, juntamente ao preço da eletricidade e ao capital humano, não demonstrou um efeito claro sobre o mesmo, assim como, as condições climáticas. Por outro lado, outras variáveis parecem não ter qualquer influência, incluindo o desemprego de longa duração e os períodos de recessão. Estes resultados sugerem que políticas baseadas em campanhas de informação e programas de incentivos são as mais eficazes para ajudar a combater as alterações climáticas. In view of the climate changes experienced in the past few decades, a debate has arisen concerning its causes and consequences. Climate change is related, for the most part, with human activity. Its consequences are extremely serious and affect many aspects of everyday life. The power plants which produce the necessary energy for household electricty and heating contribute to this effect through the emission of greenhouse gases. The household sector is the third largest consumer of energy, and electricty emerges as its main power source in Portugal. Considering that all reductions of greenhouse emissions contribute to the decelaration of global warming, we have chosen to focus on the reduction of household electricity consumption. The main objective of this dissertation is the identification of the drivers of household electricity consumption within Portugal’s NUTS II, in the 2000 to 2020 time frame. The employed methodology follows an econometric approach, with recourse to a panel database. Empirical results indicate that the price of electricity, human capital, material deprivation and poverty risk have a negative effect on household electricity consumption. Nevertheless, disponsable income of households, in spite of propelling this consumption, together with the price of electricity and human capital, has not been demonstrated to have a clear effect on electrical household consumption, as well as the climate conditions. On the other hand, other variables, such as long-term unemployment or periods of recession, seem to have no influence on consumption whatsoever. These results suggest that policies based on information campaigns and incentives programs are the most operative means to aid in combatting climate change.     Authors: Santos, Ana Beatriz de Almeida;

    This chapter aims to characterize the component dimensions of a methodological arrangement for inducing entrepreneurship policies in the context of sustainable local development. In constructing this work, the Web of Science and Spell databases and books, theses, and dissertations were consulted to seek an approximation between the investigated dimensions, namely: public policies for entrepreneurship and sustainable local development. The broader scope of this study is to apply these dimensions in productive sectors in future empirical research. Thus, it is concluded that for the elaboration of a methodological arrangement in the induction of entrepreneurship policies in the context of sustainable local development, the dimensions to be considered in this construct must be supported by integrative, participatory, rational, complex, and systemic theories.     Authors: Lagoa, Margarida Alexandra Alves Carlota Mamede;

    Authors: Pinheiro, Lúcia Assunção Freitas;

    The present dissertation was developed in the company 4Teams- Advertising & Merchandising, SA, within the scope of the Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering, with the aim of analyzing and improving the processes associated with logistics management and the current situation regarding the introduction of practices of sustainability. Not only was the logistical management of a new clothing brand analyzed, but other points of analysis were also raised at the core business level, such as the possibility of yarn shortages, the main raw material of the articles produced in the company, and also the lack of control over the creation of deadstock generated due to defects, surpluses and poor demand forecasts. Within the scope of logistics management, several opportunities for improvement arose in terms of the reformulation of processes, creation of records and control points, restructuring of supply limits, and commercial effort. The analysis also focused on the current situation in terms of sustainability in the company's various production processes, with a long way to go since the environmental impact of the various production processes was not considered. Still, within the context of sustainability, the mapping and identification of waste gave rise to the implementation of improvement measures throughout all the production processes. Improvement actions were developed and implemented in terms of logistics management and sustainability and very broad projects emerged in this sense, as is the example of the Loop project that solved the problemof deadstock and allowed the textile recycling of both articles in stock, and the generation of waste throughout the process. The improvement actions proposed and implemented generated significant positive contributions and results, such as the reduction of defective items, the reduction of orders outside the compliance limits and the introduction and analysis of various performance indicators. Other proposed improvement actions were only in the design phase, as is the case of the Sampless project, which has as a future objective the elimination of physical samples, replacing them with digital ones. A presente dissertação foi desenvolvida na empresa 4Teams- Advertising & Merchandising, SA, no âmbito do Mestrado em Engenharia Industrial, com o objetivo de analisar e melhorar os processos associados à gestão logística na empresa e o ponto de situação relativo à introdução de práticas de sustentabilidade. Analisou-se não só a gestão logística de uma nova marca de roupa, como foram também levantados outros pontos de análise ao nível do core business, tais como a possibilidade de escassez de fio, a matéria-prima principal dos artigos produzidos na empresa, e ainda a falta de controlo sobre a criação de stock morto, gerado devido a defeitos, excedentes e deficientes previsões da procura. Surgiram, no âmbito da gestão logística, várias oportunidades de melhoria a nível de reformulação de processos, criação de registos e pontos de controlo, reestruturação de limites de fornecimento, e esforço comercial. A análise recaiu ainda sobre o ponto de situação ao nível da sustentabilidade nos vários processos produtivos da empresa, verificando-se a existência de um amplo caminho a percorrer, uma vez que o impacto ambiental dos vários processos produtivos não era considerado. Ainda no âmbito da sustentabilidade, o mapeamento e identificação de resíduos deu origem à implementação de medidas de melhoria ao longo de todos os processos de produção. Foram desenvolvida e implementadas ações de melhoria ao nível da gestão logística e da sustentabilidade e surgiram projetos muito amplos neste sentido, como é o exemplo do projeto Loop que resolveu o problema do stock morto e permitiu a reciclagem têxtil tanto dos artigos em stock como dos resíduos gerados ao longo do processo. As ações de melhoria propostas e implementadas geraram contribuições e resultados positivos significativos, tais como a redução de artigos com defeito, a redução de encomendas fora dos limites de conformidade e a introdução e análise de vários indicadores de desempenho. Outras ações de melhoria propostas ficaram apenas na fase de projeto, como é o caso do projeto Sampless que tem como objetivo futuro a eliminação das amostras físicas, substituindo-as por amostras digitais.
