In an increasingly globalized contemporary world, it is not surprising to notice the role that tourism has shown in a milieu where experiences not only belong to the realm of the local, thus beginning to get involved in various universal contacts and experiences. This results in an interculturalism that makes the sharing between tourist and community essential to the establishment of a tourist typology such as justice tourism. From here arise several factors that can, when maneuvered in a certain way, be manipulated for the undertaking of the communities' well-being and conservation. The primary goal of this dissertation is, therefore, to explain the recent tourist phenomenon that we call justice tourism, an alternative tourism model that is very different from other tourist typologies with which it is sometimes compared, namely poor pro tourism and peace through tourism, as we will see below. After dwelling into the concepts of ethics, justice, multiculturalism, sustainability, peace and human rights, essential to frame and problematize justice tourism, our attention will focus on understanding the core of this tourist typology. Its essence is, therefore, to be a fair way of traveling among members of different communities, aiming to achieve mutual understanding, solidarity and equality among participants. Justice tourism is one of the most effective means of promoting mutual understanding and respect, as well as education, economic exchange, and where environmental protection plays a central role in the conservation of life within the community. With the deepening of such concepts, we will redirect our attention to the empirical case of Guinea-Bissau. With a troubled history, marked by successive coups d'état, political crises, corruption and its relevant role in drug trafficking, the country does not seem to find a way to take advantage of its vast natural resources and the conservation of its ethnic groups for the promotion of a sustainable tourism that would lead to greater political, cultural and economic development. Thus, by collecting data regarding the characteristics that make up Guinea-Bissau, we will try to determine the possibilities of implementing justice tourism in the country.

The present Internship Report for obtaining a Master's degree in Pre-School Education aims to demonstrate the process of planning, promoting and evaluating the pedagogical intervention project developed during the internship. The Nursery valence comprised a group of children in the aged between of 2 and 3 years old, and the Pre-School Education valence covered a group in the age gap from 3 to 6 years. The approach to the action-research methodology made it possible to contextualize the intervention, admitting a pedagogical practice based on educational intentionality and grounded on reflective processes. Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity. The current generation is looking for quick solutions, which essentially translate into the adoption of practical measures. Children are the future of hope that in the present translates into urgent change. In order for societal changes to come and to guarantee a better future for generations to come, minimizing the damage that the planet will suffer, it is essential to increase children's contact time with the outdoors. So that they can, in the true essence of playing, explore, feel and taste Nature, since no one will be able to develop feelings of respect, enchantment and preservation for something they do not recognize. Thus, the intervention project entitled “Beyond our room: Outer space as a driver of new discoveries” had the main purpose of extending the contact time and the range of quality experiences in the outer space, where, through playing, children played an active role in their learning. In a nominal phase, the understanding of nature conservation attitudes began, visible in the commitment and concern of children in taking care of the outer space. Sustainability and innovation are two concepts that are increasingly important in all sectors of activity, including higher education. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have a responsibility to play a leading role in promoting sustainable practices, not only in daily operations, but also in educating individuals who are conscious and responsible towards the environment. The main objective of this final master's project is to understand how HEI management promotes good sustainability practices through innovative initiatives. A descriptive qualitative approach will be used, assuming the interview as the main method of data collection. These were carried out with different management bodies responsible for the sustainability department of various HEIs. The proposed objective of this study allowed us to conclude that institutions are truly committed to achieving sustainability in order to build a better future for the next generations. Although HEIs have already created specific teams to deal with sustainability and innovation issues, there are still some challenges to be faced, such as the lack of clear performance indicators and the need to improve sustainability strategic plans. Nevertheless, partnerships with external organizations and positive evaluation of the impact of HEIs are encouraging signs that progress is being made in the right direction.

O contributo para formar alunos proativos em prole de um futuro sustentável é evidenciado na carreira profissional descrita no segundo capítulo deste relatório This professional activity report reinforces the importance of ongoing training of teachers who values the acquisition of knowledge, skills and teaching practices in various professional contexts. The Tagus River Estuary, for its ecological, geographical, historical and cultural importance was the theme for Environmental Education activities that alert to the preservation and conservation of wetlands and ecosystems in general. Modern society faces increasingly environmental problems caused by man. It´s urgent a change in behaviors and attitudes in order to live in a sustainable planet. Pollution, species extinction, energy waste and climate change are concerns of local and global Political Organs, Organizations, Associations and specially school. Together we must contribute to the Environmental Education and Citizenship of the whole society. In school, students’ Environmental Education passes by engaging them in projects that involve direct contact with nature and the emotional attachment to the places where they live. Thus it becomes easier to increase awareness of the younger sections of the population and consequently their families and local community. The contribution to form proactive students in offspring of a sustainable future is evident in the career described in the second chapter of this report. The democracy, due to a crisis of sustainability that is becoming more and more difficult to disguise, covering the dynamics of economy, social cohesion and the relationships with the environment, begins to have problems in fulfilling the promise of a decent and honourable lifestyle for all and civil society, historically committed to the defense of the enabling conditions of this kind of life, has an important role to play, not as much as it has prevailed, focusing on information campaigns directed to the population and actions of denunciation, protest and pressure on political decision makers and business actors, but shifting the focus of initiatives to educational investments, informal and nonformal, in order to achieve, what it seems essential: the modification of ways of being in the world with sustainability concerns. To revisit thus the role of civil society in the defense of economic, social and ecological sustainability of the regimes legitimized in ethical and political terms, by the promise of a decent and honourable lifestyle, we bet on a different line of educational action of the organizations of civil society within democracies and we show how this program could materialize revaluing the informal and non-formal learning processes of civil society itself. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

This report is the outcam of the supervised teaching practice (STP), developed under the Master’s degree in Geography Teaching, in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education, at Military College, Luz, Lisbon. Its theme is the approach of sustainability in the teaching of geography, the main objective is to evaluate the changes in the behavior and thinking of the students after the learning about sustainability occurs. Environmental concerns have gained increasing notoriety since the late twentieth century with the help of the media for problems related to overexploitation and degradation of natural resources and climate change, making them a focus of attention. This is why the concept of sustainability is fundamental for students to understand the consequences and solutions of this conflict of interest between man and nature. In this sense, geography is a unique science, as it is an integrative discipline, which studies the physical and human dimensions of phenomena, considering man as a modifying and transforming agent of landscapes. Being the holder of a curriculum that incorporates the analysis of geographic space based on the study of social (human) and natural (physical) relationships. In the classes where the Supervised Teaching Practice (STP) took place, different methodologies were applied in the teaching-learning process, incorporating the behaviourist and constructivist models, as well as the completion of questionnaires alluding to sustainability practices, in which there was a greater sensitivity of students in assessing sustainability problems and practices in cities.

Social responsibility practices represent a significant management tool for transparency of actions in public education institutions. Therefore, the present research aims to analyze the information contained in the Annual Management Reports, of mandatory disclosure, and the "IFTM in Action", of voluntary disclosure, both published by the Instituto Federal do Triângulo Mineiro (IFTM), on the aspects social responsibility, transparency and sustainability between the years 2013 and 2016. We have established an interrelationship with the sustainability report, G4 version of GRI, for comparability of the applicable technical data. As for the methodological procedures, the research focused on the case study, being classified as descriptive, exploratory and qualitative. For the data collection was used the technique of documentary analysis, and for the data analysis was used content analysis technique. Finally, it is concluded that IFTM, although not formally publishing a sustainability report, assumes a transparent posture of a socially responsible institution to its stakeholders, presenting about 70% of its information applicable to the contents of a GRI- G4.
