Educação, democracia e sustentabilidade: o protagonismo da sociedade civil revisitado
handle: 1822/45319
The democracy, due to a crisis of sustainability that is becoming more and more difficult to disguise, covering the dynamics of economy, social cohesion and the relationships with the environment, begins to have problems in fulfilling the promise of a decent and honourable lifestyle for all and civil society, historically committed to the defense of the enabling conditions of this kind of life, has an important role to play, not as much as it has prevailed, focusing on information campaigns directed to the population and actions of denunciation, protest and pressure on political decision makers and business actors, but shifting the focus of initiatives to educational investments, informal and nonformal, in order to achieve, what it seems essential: the modification of ways of being in the world with sustainability concerns. To revisit thus the role of civil society in the defense of economic, social and ecological sustainability of the regimes legitimized in ethical and political terms, by the promise of a decent and honourable lifestyle, we bet on a different line of educational action of the organizations of civil society within democracies and we show how this program could materialize revaluing the informal and non-formal learning processes of civil society itself.
