    Construction involves the use of significant quantities of raw materials and entails high-energy consumption. For the sake of choosing the most appropriate solution that considers environmental and sustainable concepts, tools such as the integrated value model for sustainable assessment (Modelo Integrado de Valor para una Evaluación Sostenible, MIVES) used in Spain, plays a key role in obtaining the best solution. MIVES is a multi-criteria decision-making method based on the value function concept and the seminars delivered by experts. Such tools, in order to show how they may work, require application to case studies. In this paper, two concrete slabs manufactured with differing reinforcements during the construction of the La Canda Tunnels are compared by means of MIVES. The two concrete slabs were reinforced with a conventional steel-mesh and with polyolefin fibres. This research was focussed on the main aspects affecting the construction. That is to say, the environmental, economic, and social factors were assessed by the method, being of special impact the issues related with maintenance of the structure. The results showed that from the point of view of sustainability, the use of polyolefin fibres provided a significant advantage, mainly due to the lower maintenance required.

    The operation of gas generators brings relatively high thermo-mechanical loads on the gas generator structure. The objective of this article is to determine the operating conditions, in terms of mechanical loads at extremely high temperatures in very limited and narrow space, of a multifunctional bulkhead for application on specific kinds of gas generators with back-to-back rotor concept. The paper contains numerical analysis and experimental investigation for determining the loads and behavior of the structure. Numerical analysis indicates that there is significant influence of the Tesla turbine effect on flow parameters. Also, uneven pressure distribution and significant thermal loads are identified. With experimental investigation and subsequent exploitation tests, it was concluded that the presented methodology identifies the operating conditions, truthfully simulates the bulkhead stress state and deformations and that the presented design solution satisfied all demands. Regarding results obtained by these numerical simulations, the innovative design solution for the multifunctional bulkhead was proposed.

    The major goal of this research paper is to determine the long-run linkage among variables and the impact of civil aviation, energy productivity (efficiency), economic growth (GDP), on ecological footprint through conducting the multivariate regression method, Phillips‑Ouliaris and Engle‑Granger, Jarque – Bera Normality, and Cusum tests from 1970 to 2020. According to results of multivariate regression method, civil aviation, energy efficiency, and economic growth affect the ecological footprint from 1970 to 2020 in France which is coincide with Phillips‑Ouliaris and Engle‑Granger tests. On the contrary, there is no effect of independent variables on dependent variable (ecological footprint) in Finland which is consistent with Phillips‑Ouliaris and Engle‑Granger tests. In this respect, The long-run relation of the model is verified by the cointegration test of Engle-Granger and Phillips-Ouliaris for France. However, there is no long-run co-integration among variables for Finland from 1970-2020. To sum up, empirical results of France is verified EKC hypothesis. However, EKC hypothesis is not verified for Finland.

    The battery power state (SOP) is the basic indicator for the Battery management system (BMS) of the battery energy storage system (BESS) to formulate control strategies. Although there have been many studies on state estimation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), aging and temperature variation are seldom considered in peak power prediction during the whole life of the battery. To fill this gap, this paper aims to propose an adaptive peak power prediction method for power lithium-ion batteries considering temperature and aging is proposed. First, the Thevenin equivalent circuit model is used to jointly estimate the state of charge (SOC) and SOP of the lithium-ion power battery, and the variable forgetting factor recursive least squares (VFF-RLS) algorithm and extended Kalman filter (EKF) are utilized to identify the battery parameters online. Then, multiple constraint parameters including current, voltage, and SOC were derived, considering the dependence of the polarization resistance of the battery on the battery current. Finally, the verification experiment was carried out with LiFePO4 battery. The experimental results under FUDS operating conditions show that the maximum SOC estimation error is 1.94%. And the power prediction errors at 20%, 50%, and 70% SOC were 5.0%, 8.1% and 4.5%, respectively. Our further work will focus on the joint estimation of battery state to further improve the accuracy.

    In the present study, we explored the temperature evolution and hydrogen desorption properties of the Mg50Ni50 alloy through both numerical simulation and experimental analyses. Desorption kinetics characterization was carried out using the volumetric method, specifically employing a Sievert's-type apparatus to investigate solid-gas reactions. The experiments covered a temperature range from 313 K to 353 K, with an initial hydrogen pressure of 12 bar. Simultaneously, a mathematical approach was employed to numerically investigate the temperature evolution within the hydride bed. Using COMSOL Multiphysics as a simulator, a numerical simulation was conducted based on experimental data. The study examined the impact of cooling temperature on hydride temperature evolution. Results revealed that hydrogen desorption kinetics of the amorphous Mg50Ni50 alloy are more significant compared to those of Mg2Ni compounds. Moreover, the effect of the warming temperature on the equilibrium pressure can also be observed in the hydrogen desorption isotherm curves. The experimental study of the Mg50Ni50 alloy provided activation energy data, along with determination of hydride formation enthalpy and entropy. On the other hand, we showed that the hydride temperature is maximum at the hydride-hydrogen interface within the hydride center.

    AbstractVentilation door are commonly found in tunnels and other underground engineering ventilation structures, disaster periods using its explosion isolation, explosion relief, wind regulation characteristics for disaster prevention and mitigation is of great significance. This paper numerically simulates the propagation characteristics of the gas explosion shock wave in the nearby tunnel when the ventilation door are opened at different degrees, and analyzes the influence mechanism of the opening degree on the change law of the shock wave overpressure distribution in the nearby tunnel. The results show that the shock wave forms a strong turbulence area (high pressure area) on both sides in front of the ventilation door, and the area range and the overpressure value decrease with the increase of the opening degree; the ventilation door reduce the intensity of the shock wave, so that the overpressure behind the ventilation door decreases, and the smaller the opening degree, the lower the overpressure behind the ventilation door. The secondary explosion formed shock wave and the ventilation door reflected shock wave meet to form a stronger shock wave, which leads to different opening degrees of ventilation door, its before, after the roadway and after the bifurcation of the main roadway in the measured points of the overpressure change curve is different, the main difference is that the peak overpressure for the first wave or the second wave peak. The peak overpressure in the tunnel before and after the ventilation door decreases and increases respectively with the increase of the opening length, and the overall decay of the peak overpressure at 5 m and 10 m before the ventilation door is 49.56% and 4.04% respectively and only has an effect on the peak overpressure in main tunnel within 20 m from the bifurcation.

    Comfort temperature and sleep quality involving 20 participants were determined in two cases: Case A (arbitrary, controlled air-conditioner setting) and Case B (adjustment of 3 °C higher than the setting of Case A with cool bed linen). Data of indoor thermal comfort and electricity consumption were collected every night throughout the measurement period. Questionnaires on thermal comfort and sleep quality were distributed twice a night for a duration of three nights for each case; the first night was for respondents’ adaptation and the following two nights were for measurement. The sleep quality of the respondents was objectively measured using a commercially available activity tracker. Results found that most respondents were thermally comfortable in both cases, with 39% lower energy consumption reported for Case B compared to Case A. The thermal conditions of Case B were found to be more tolerable than those of Case A. Most respondents reported to have a calm and satisfied sleep for both cases. Comfort temperature and Sleep Efficiency Index (SEI) were found to be maintained in both cases.

    With the depletion of fossil fuel resources, the search for new alternatives such as biofuels produced from biomass has intensified. A wide variety of compounds can be produced by treating this biomass. Ethers are one of them and can be used as additives to conventional fuels or as fuel. To this end, it is necessary to have a better knowledge of the kinetics of the oxidation of these compounds which differ from conventional fuels by the presence of oxygen atoms in their structure, making the chemistry more complex. This thesis aims to develop kinetic mechanisms of the oxidation of simple ethers based on experimental data obtained in jet stirred reactor. The oxidation of four ethers at atmospheric pressure and high pressure (10 atm) was studied over a wide range of temperatures (450 - 1250 K) under different equivalence ratios (0.5 to 4). The mole fraction profiles of the reactants, products of combustion and main stable intermediates were measured by gas chromatography, infra-red spectrometry or photoionization mass spectrometry using synchrotron radiation. The results thus obtained then served as a basis for validating kinetic mechanisms modeling the oxidation of these species whose agreement with the measurements is globally satisfactory for compounds for which few studies are available.; Avec l’épuisement des ressources en combustible fossile, la recherche de nouveaux carburants alternatifs tels que les biocarburants produits à partir de biomasse s’est intensifiée. Une grande variété de composés peut être produite par traitement de cette biomasse. Les éthers en font partie et peuvent être utilisés comme additifs aux carburants classiques ou comme carburant. À cette fin, il faut disposer d’une meilleure connaissance de la cinétique chimique d’oxydation de ces composés qui diffèrent des carburants conventionnels par la présence d’atomes d’oxygène dans leur structure, rendant la chimie plus complexe. Cette thèse a pour objectif de développer des mécanismes cinétiques d’oxydation d’éthers simples à partir de données expérimentales obtenues en réacteur auto-agité par jets gazeux. L’oxydation de quatre éthers à pression atmosphérique et haute pression (10 atm) a été étudiée sur un large domaine de température (450 - 1250 K) dans différentes conditions de richesse de mélange (0,5 à 4). Les profils de fraction molaire des réactifs, produits de combustion et intermédiaires réactionnels stables ont été mesurés par chromatographie en phase gazeuse, spectrométrie infra-rouge ou spectrométrie de masse à photo-ionisation par rayonnement synchrotron. Les résultats ainsi obtenus ont ensuite servi de base pour valider des mécanismes cinétique modélisant l’oxydation de ces espèces dont l’accord avec les mesures est globalement satisfaisant pour des composés pour lesquels peu d’études sont disponibles.

    In this paper, the mathematical analysis of the robot effective mass is presented. The calculation of this effective mass and its ellipsoid are included. The relationship between the robot effective mass and the external force (collision) affecting the robot end-effector is investigated. The effective mass is analyzed using different robot configurations and different end-effector positions. This analysis is conducted using 2-DOF and 3-DOF planar robots and executed using MATLAB. The results from this analysis prove that the robot effective mass depends on the its configurations and end-effector position. Effective mass can thus be considered as one of the criteria in optimizing robot kinematics and configuration.

    Construction involves the use of significant quantities of raw materials and entails high-energy consumption. For the sake of choosing the most appropriate solution that considers environmental and sustainable concepts, tools such as the integrated value model for sustainable assessment (Modelo Integrado de Valor para una Evaluación Sostenible, MIVES) used in Spain, plays a key role in obtaining the best solution. MIVES is a multi-criteria decision-making method based on the value function concept and the seminars delivered by experts. Such tools, in order to show how they may work, require application to case studies. In this paper, two concrete slabs manufactured with differing reinforcements during the construction of the La Canda Tunnels are compared by means of MIVES. The two concrete slabs were reinforced with a conventional steel-mesh and with polyolefin fibres. This research was focussed on the main aspects affecting the construction. That is to say, the environmental, economic, and social factors were assessed by the method, being of special impact the issues related with maintenance of the structure. The results showed that from the point of view of sustainability, the use of polyolefin fibres provided a significant advantage, mainly due to the lower maintenance required.

    The operation of gas generators brings relatively high thermo-mechanical loads on the gas generator structure. The objective of this article is to determine the operating conditions, in terms of mechanical loads at extremely high temperatures in very limited and narrow space, of a multifunctional bulkhead for application on specific kinds of gas generators with back-to-back rotor concept. The paper contains numerical analysis and experimental investigation for determining the loads and behavior of the structure. Numerical analysis indicates that there is significant influence of the Tesla turbine effect on flow parameters. Also, uneven pressure distribution and significant thermal loads are identified. With experimental investigation and subsequent exploitation tests, it was concluded that the presented methodology identifies the operating conditions, truthfully simulates the bulkhead stress state and deformations and that the presented design solution satisfied all demands. Regarding results obtained by these numerical simulations, the innovative design solution for the multifunctional bulkhead was proposed.

    The major goal of this research paper is to determine the long-run linkage among variables and the impact of civil aviation, energy productivity (efficiency), economic growth (GDP), on ecological footprint through conducting the multivariate regression method, Phillips‑Ouliaris and Engle‑Granger, Jarque – Bera Normality, and Cusum tests from 1970 to 2020. According to results of multivariate regression method, civil aviation, energy efficiency, and economic growth affect the ecological footprint from 1970 to 2020 in France which is coincide with Phillips‑Ouliaris and Engle‑Granger tests. On the contrary, there is no effect of independent variables on dependent variable (ecological footprint) in Finland which is consistent with Phillips‑Ouliaris and Engle‑Granger tests. In this respect, The long-run relation of the model is verified by the cointegration test of Engle-Granger and Phillips-Ouliaris for France. However, there is no long-run co-integration among variables for Finland from 1970-2020. To sum up, empirical results of France is verified EKC hypothesis. However, EKC hypothesis is not verified for Finland.

    The battery power state (SOP) is the basic indicator for the Battery management system (BMS) of the battery energy storage system (BESS) to formulate control strategies. Although there have been many studies on state estimation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), aging and temperature variation are seldom considered in peak power prediction during the whole life of the battery. To fill this gap, this paper aims to propose an adaptive peak power prediction method for power lithium-ion batteries considering temperature and aging is proposed. First, the Thevenin equivalent circuit model is used to jointly estimate the state of charge (SOC) and SOP of the lithium-ion power battery, and the variable forgetting factor recursive least squares (VFF-RLS) algorithm and extended Kalman filter (EKF) are utilized to identify the battery parameters online. Then, multiple constraint parameters including current, voltage, and SOC were derived, considering the dependence of the polarization resistance of the battery on the battery current. Finally, the verification experiment was carried out with LiFePO4 battery. The experimental results under FUDS operating conditions show that the maximum SOC estimation error is 1.94%. And the power prediction errors at 20%, 50%, and 70% SOC were 5.0%, 8.1% and 4.5%, respectively. Our further work will focus on the joint estimation of battery state to further improve the accuracy.

    In the present study, we explored the temperature evolution and hydrogen desorption properties of the Mg50Ni50 alloy through both numerical simulation and experimental analyses. Desorption kinetics characterization was carried out using the volumetric method, specifically employing a Sievert's-type apparatus to investigate solid-gas reactions. The experiments covered a temperature range from 313 K to 353 K, with an initial hydrogen pressure of 12 bar. Simultaneously, a mathematical approach was employed to numerically investigate the temperature evolution within the hydride bed. Using COMSOL Multiphysics as a simulator, a numerical simulation was conducted based on experimental data. The study examined the impact of cooling temperature on hydride temperature evolution. Results revealed that hydrogen desorption kinetics of the amorphous Mg50Ni50 alloy are more significant compared to those of Mg2Ni compounds. Moreover, the effect of the warming temperature on the equilibrium pressure can also be observed in the hydrogen desorption isotherm curves. The experimental study of the Mg50Ni50 alloy provided activation energy data, along with determination of hydride formation enthalpy and entropy. On the other hand, we showed that the hydride temperature is maximum at the hydride-hydrogen interface within the hydride center.

    AbstractVentilation door are commonly found in tunnels and other underground engineering ventilation structures, disaster periods using its explosion isolation, explosion relief, wind regulation characteristics for disaster prevention and mitigation is of great significance. This paper numerically simulates the propagation characteristics of the gas explosion shock wave in the nearby tunnel when the ventilation door are opened at different degrees, and analyzes the influence mechanism of the opening degree on the change law of the shock wave overpressure distribution in the nearby tunnel. The results show that the shock wave forms a strong turbulence area (high pressure area) on both sides in front of the ventilation door, and the area range and the overpressure value decrease with the increase of the opening degree; the ventilation door reduce the intensity of the shock wave, so that the overpressure behind the ventilation door decreases, and the smaller the opening degree, the lower the overpressure behind the ventilation door. The secondary explosion formed shock wave and the ventilation door reflected shock wave meet to form a stronger shock wave, which leads to different opening degrees of ventilation door, its before, after the roadway and after the bifurcation of the main roadway in the measured points of the overpressure change curve is different, the main difference is that the peak overpressure for the first wave or the second wave peak. The peak overpressure in the tunnel before and after the ventilation door decreases and increases respectively with the increase of the opening length, and the overall decay of the peak overpressure at 5 m and 10 m before the ventilation door is 49.56% and 4.04% respectively and only has an effect on the peak overpressure in main tunnel within 20 m from the bifurcation.

    Comfort temperature and sleep quality involving 20 participants were determined in two cases: Case A (arbitrary, controlled air-conditioner setting) and Case B (adjustment of 3 °C higher than the setting of Case A with cool bed linen). Data of indoor thermal comfort and electricity consumption were collected every night throughout the measurement period. Questionnaires on thermal comfort and sleep quality were distributed twice a night for a duration of three nights for each case; the first night was for respondents’ adaptation and the following two nights were for measurement. The sleep quality of the respondents was objectively measured using a commercially available activity tracker. Results found that most respondents were thermally comfortable in both cases, with 39% lower energy consumption reported for Case B compared to Case A. The thermal conditions of Case B were found to be more tolerable than those of Case A. Most respondents reported to have a calm and satisfied sleep for both cases. Comfort temperature and Sleep Efficiency Index (SEI) were found to be maintained in both cases.

    With the depletion of fossil fuel resources, the search for new alternatives such as biofuels produced from biomass has intensified. A wide variety of compounds can be produced by treating this biomass. Ethers are one of them and can be used as additives to conventional fuels or as fuel. To this end, it is necessary to have a better knowledge of the kinetics of the oxidation of these compounds which differ from conventional fuels by the presence of oxygen atoms in their structure, making the chemistry more complex. This thesis aims to develop kinetic mechanisms of the oxidation of simple ethers based on experimental data obtained in jet stirred reactor. The oxidation of four ethers at atmospheric pressure and high pressure (10 atm) was studied over a wide range of temperatures (450 - 1250 K) under different equivalence ratios (0.5 to 4). The mole fraction profiles of the reactants, products of combustion and main stable intermediates were measured by gas chromatography, infra-red spectrometry or photoionization mass spectrometry using synchrotron radiation. The results thus obtained then served as a basis for validating kinetic mechanisms modeling the oxidation of these species whose agreement with the measurements is globally satisfactory for compounds for which few studies are available.; Avec l’épuisement des ressources en combustible fossile, la recherche de nouveaux carburants alternatifs tels que les biocarburants produits à partir de biomasse s’est intensifiée. Une grande variété de composés peut être produite par traitement de cette biomasse. Les éthers en font partie et peuvent être utilisés comme additifs aux carburants classiques ou comme carburant. À cette fin, il faut disposer d’une meilleure connaissance de la cinétique chimique d’oxydation de ces composés qui diffèrent des carburants conventionnels par la présence d’atomes d’oxygène dans leur structure, rendant la chimie plus complexe. Cette thèse a pour objectif de développer des mécanismes cinétiques d’oxydation d’éthers simples à partir de données expérimentales obtenues en réacteur auto-agité par jets gazeux. L’oxydation de quatre éthers à pression atmosphérique et haute pression (10 atm) a été étudiée sur un large domaine de température (450 - 1250 K) dans différentes conditions de richesse de mélange (0,5 à 4). Les profils de fraction molaire des réactifs, produits de combustion et intermédiaires réactionnels stables ont été mesurés par chromatographie en phase gazeuse, spectrométrie infra-rouge ou spectrométrie de masse à photo-ionisation par rayonnement synchrotron. Les résultats ainsi obtenus ont ensuite servi de base pour valider des mécanismes cinétique modélisant l’oxydation de ces espèces dont l’accord avec les mesures est globalement satisfaisant pour des composés pour lesquels peu d’études sont disponibles.

    In this paper, the mathematical analysis of the robot effective mass is presented. The calculation of this effective mass and its ellipsoid are included. The relationship between the robot effective mass and the external force (collision) affecting the robot end-effector is investigated. The effective mass is analyzed using different robot configurations and different end-effector positions. This analysis is conducted using 2-DOF and 3-DOF planar robots and executed using MATLAB. The results from this analysis prove that the robot effective mass depends on the its configurations and end-effector position. Effective mass can thus be considered as one of the criteria in optimizing robot kinematics and configuration.
