    Nos últimos anos tem-se observado uma crescente preocupação com os hábitos de higiene, saúde e segurança por parte da sociedade. Adicionalmente, as infeções em setores como a saúde e a indústria alimentar, impuseram a necessidade do desenvolvimento de produtos que permitam conferir qualidade e segurança aos serviços e produtos disponíveis. Face a esta procura, a empresa Success Gadget desenvolveu um desinfetante antimicrobiano multi-superfícies de longa duração. Assim, este trabalho desenvolvido na referida empresa teve como objetivo principal a avaliação deste produto, quer em termos de composição, quer em termos de atividade antimicrobiana contra vários microrganismos e aplicada em diferentes superfícies. Numa primeira fase deste projeto, foram estudados os componentes da formulação e a estabilidade da mesma, quando submetida a ensaios de estabilidade acelerada. Relativamente aos componentes da formulação confirma-se a atividade antibacteriana por parte das substâncias ativas da formulação, o peróxido de hidrogénio e o etanol, para as três bactérias em estudo, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae e Escherichia coli. Quanto à formulação em estudo, mostrou-se estável quando submetida a uma temperatura de 54 ºC durante 14 dias, sendo que no final do ensaio a percentagem de peróxido de hidrogénio teórico se encontra dentro do intervalo obtido experimentalmente. Quanto ao parâmetro da densidade este não sofreu alterações e no parâmetro do pH as alterações que ocorreram já eram esperadas. Na segunda fase do projeto, analisou-se a atividade antibacteriana de superfícies porosas, tendo sido testadas duas amostras têxteis, com diferentes características. O produto em estudo apresentou atividade antibacteriana para as duas amostras têxteis para tempos de desinfeção até 7 dias de aplicação, para S. aureus, K. pneumoniae e E. coli. A análise da atividade antibacteriana em superfícies não porosas, correspondendo à terceira fase do projeto, sendo testadas amostras de alumínio. O desinfetante apresenta atividade antibacteriana até 48 h para S. aureus, no caso da K. pneumoniae apresenta atividade antibacteriana até 7 dias e, por último, para E. coli não apresenta atividade antibacteriana. A última fase da dissertação contemplou a análise da atividade antimicrobiana em superfícies do quotidiano, sendo que ocorreu total inibição fúngica e uma diminuição notória de colonização bacteriana após 7 dias de aplicação de desinfetante. Em conclusão, o desinfetante em estudo é um produto promissor no que toca à inibição de microrganismos em superfícies com características diferentes entre si. In recent years there has been a growing concern with hygiene, health and safety habits on part of society. Additionally, infections in sectors such as health and food industry have imposed the need to develop products that allow the assessment of quality and safety in the services and products available. Due to the demand, the company Success Gadget created an long term multi-surface disinfectant Therefore the work developed by the company, had the main goal to be the evaluation of the product in composition and in antimicrobial activity against the several microorganisms and applied in different surfaces. In the first phase of the project, the components of the formulation and theirstability were studied, been submitted to accelerated stability tests. Regarding the components of the formulation, the antibacterial activity of the active substances in the formulation, hydrogen peroxide and ethanol, is confirmed for the three bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli) under study, it was stable when subjected to a temperature of 54 ºC for 14 days, and at the end of the test the theoretical percentage of hydrogen peroxide is within the range obtained experimentally. As for the density parameter, it did not undergo changes and the pH parameter, the changes that occurred were already expected. In the second stage of the project, the antibacterial activity of porous surface was analysed, two textile samples with different characteristics were tested. The product under study showed antibacterial activity for both textile samples for disinfection times up to 7 days of application, for S. aureus, K. pneumoniae and E. coli. On the analysis of antibacterial activity on non-porous surface, the third phase of the project, aluminium samples were tested. The disinfectant had antibacterial activity up to 48 h for S. aureus, in the case of K. pneumoniae it had antibacterial activity up to 7 days and, finally, for E. coli it had no antibacterial activity. The last phase of the work included the analysis of antimicrobial activity on everyday surfaces, with total fungal inhibition and notable decrease in bacteria colonization after 7 days of disinfectant application. In conclusion, the disinfectant under study is a promising product in terms of inhibiting microorganisms on surfaces with different characteristics.     Os eletrólitos poliméricos sólidos (SPEs) são constituídos por polímeros, que ao serem dopados adquirem propriedades condutoras, possíveis de serem aplicados numa ampla variedade de dispositivos eletroquímicos, como sensores, baterias ou janelas inteligentes. Estes sistemas oferecem várias caraterísticas atrativas, nomeadamente boas propriedades eletroquímicas, baixo custo, alta segurança, redução de problemas associados às questões ambientais, eliminação de problemas associados a fuga de eletrólitos e boa flexibilidade. Para além disso o desenvolvimento de eletrólitos poliméricos naturais tem sido explorado para substituir os eletrólitos poliméricos sintéticos, de modo a combater problemas ambientais e apelar a uma maior sustentabilidade. O âmbito desta dissertação consiste na síntese de eletrólitos poliméricos de base natural, usando como biopolímero a fibroína de seda. Para a preparação destes SPEs, a matriz biopolimérica foi dopada com glicerol, dimetilsulfóxido (DMSO) e bis(trifluorometoxisulfonil)imida de lítio (LiTFSI). Os eletrólitos poliméricos preparados foram caraterizados recorrendo a diversas técnicas, tais como: calorimetria diferencial de varrimento (DSC), espetroscopia de ultravioletavisível (UV-vis), espetroscopia de impedância complexa, microscopia de força atómica (AFM), microscopia ótica polarizada (POM) e espetroscopia de infravermelho por transformada de Fourier (FTIR). A utilização de glicerol e de DMSO, bem como a otimização da concentração de LiTFSI na síntese, permitiu a preparação de materiais com características promissoras para a sua utilização como eletrólitos poliméricos. Os materiais preparados apresentam uma excelente condutividade iónica (atingindo em algumas amostras valores superiores a 10–3 S cm–1), bem como características térmicas e morfológicas adequadas para a sua utilização em dispositivos eletroquímicos, tais como baterias ou dispositivos electrocrómicos. The aim of this dissertation consists in the synthesis of natural polymer electrolytes, using silk fibroin as biopolymer. For the preparation of these polymer electrolytes, the biopolymeric matrix was doped with glycerol, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and lithium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide (LiTFSI). The solid polymer electrolytes were characterized by several techniques, such as: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), complex impedance spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), polarized optical microscopy (POM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The use of glycerol and DMSO, as well as the optimization of the concentration of LiTFSI in the synthesis, allowed the preparation of materials with promising characteristics for its use as polymeric electrolytes. The prepared materials have excellent ionic conductivity (in some samples reaching values greater than 10–3 S cm–1), as well as thermal and morphological characteristics suitable for their use in electrochemical devices, such as batteries or electrochromic devices.     Authors: Rodrigues, Sabina da Silva;

    Desde 2020 que o mundo enfrenta, provavelmente, o maior desafio posterior à segunda guerra mundial, levando-nos a incorporar novos paradigmas em várias esferas da nossa vida (Nações Unidas, 2020). Enquanto as incertezas dominavam as novas vidas e grande parte dos portugueses confinaram em suas casas, outros tiveram que reforçar a sua dedicação à vida profissional e dar de si para salvar vidas, impedir a solidão e manter o essencial ao alcance de quem precisava. As Estruturas Residenciais para Pessoas Idosas enquadraram-se nos serviços caracteriza dos com um papel imprescindível para a continuidade dos cuidados básicos às pessoas idosas, pois estas são as suas casas. A pandemia alterou radicalmente a forma de atuar desta resposta social e os profissionais viram de perto os seus limites. Se por um lado os momentos de crise demonstram o valor e a capacidade humana, por outro, coloca à tona as fragilidades existentes. Adotando uma abordagem metodológica qualitativa, para o estudo realizaram-se 10 entrevistas a diretoras técnicas das Estruturas Residenciais para Pessoas Idosas, do concelho de Guimarães, cujo objetivo pretendia uma análise aos impactos da pandemia e as estratégias encontradas para enfrentar os novos desafios. Os resultados demonstraram as dificuldades sentidas em gerir equipas desgastadas e com um nível motivacional reduzido. De salientar, igualmente, a necessidade por parte do Estado de se debruçar sobre as Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social, sob pena de futuramente não existir recursos humanos interessados em laborar na área social. Since 2020, the world is facing probably the greatest challenge since World War II, leading us to incorporate new realities into the various components of our lives. (United Nations, 2020). While uncertainties are the new rule for our lives, and a large number of Portuguese people were confined to their homes, others had to reinforce their dedication to save lives, prevent loneliness, and keep basic commodities in reach of those in need. The Residential Structures for the Elderly fit into the indispensable services responsible for the continuity of basic care to elderly people because these are in their houses. The pandemic due to SARS-CoV-2 radically changed the way of this social response and the professionals felt their limits. In one hand, moments of crisis demonstrate the values and humanity that we still have but, on the other hand, brings to light the existing weaknesses that we all have and feel. Adopting a qualitative methodological approach, for the study, I have conduct 10 interviews with technical directors of the Residential Structures for the Elderly in the area of Guimarães, whose objective was to analyze the impacts of the pandemic and the strategies found to face these new challenges. The results shown as major difficulties the management of tired teams and low motivational level. It’s also worth of noting, the need for the Portuguese State to take a closer look to address the Particular Institutions of Social Solidarity, for the event of there will not be human resources interested in working in the social area in the future.     Authors: Rodrigues, Sabina da Silva;

    Desde 2020 que o mundo enfrenta, provavelmente, o maior desafio posterior à segunda guerra mundial, levando-nos a incorporar novos paradigmas em várias esferas da nossa vida (Nações Unidas, 2020). Enquanto as incertezas dominavam as novas vidas e grande parte dos portugueses confinaram em suas casas, outros tiveram que reforçar a sua dedicação à vida profissional e dar de si para salvar vidas, impedir a solidão e manter o essencial ao alcance de quem precisava. As Estruturas Residenciais para Pessoas Idosas enquadraram-se nos serviços caracteriza dos com um papel imprescindível para a continuidade dos cuidados básicos às pessoas idosas, pois estas são as suas casas. A pandemia alterou radicalmente a forma de atuar desta resposta social e os profissionais viram de perto os seus limites. Se por um lado os momentos de crise demonstram o valor e a capacidade humana, por outro, coloca à tona as fragilidades existentes. Adotando uma abordagem metodológica qualitativa, para o estudo realizaram-se 10 entrevistas a diretoras técnicas das Estruturas Residenciais para Pessoas Idosas, do concelho de Guimarães, cujo objetivo pretendia uma análise aos impactos da pandemia e as estratégias encontradas para enfrentar os novos desafios. Os resultados demonstraram as dificuldades sentidas em gerir equipas desgastadas e com um nível motivacional reduzido. De salientar, igualmente, a necessidade por parte do Estado de se debruçar sobre as Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social, sob pena de futuramente não existir recursos humanos interessados em laborar na área social. Since 2020, the world is facing probably the greatest challenge since World War II, leading us to incorporate new realities into the various components of our lives. (United Nations, 2020). While uncertainties are the new rule for our lives, and a large number of Portuguese people were confined to their homes, others had to reinforce their dedication to save lives, prevent loneliness, and keep basic commodities in reach of those in need. The Residential Structures for the Elderly fit into the indispensable services responsible for the continuity of basic care to elderly people because these are in their houses. The pandemic due to SARS-CoV-2 radically changed the way of this social response and the professionals felt their limits. In one hand, moments of crisis demonstrate the values and humanity that we still have but, on the other hand, brings to light the existing weaknesses that we all have and feel. Adopting a qualitative methodological approach, for the study, I have conduct 10 interviews with technical directors of the Residential Structures for the Elderly in the area of Guimarães, whose objective was to analyze the impacts of the pandemic and the strategies found to face these new challenges. The results shown as major difficulties the management of tired teams and low motivational level. It’s also worth of noting, the need for the Portuguese State to take a closer look to address the Particular Institutions of Social Solidarity, for the event of there will not be human resources interested in working in the social area in the future.
