Research proposals were invited for funding under a number of activity types that are in line with the objectives of the SmartBay PRTLI Cycle 5 programme. This fund provided small awards (typically €2-25K) to research teams through a national competitive process, which was open to all higher education institutions on the island of Ireland. There were both open and biannual calls. The SmartBay NIAP fund was established to enable researchers in academia and industry to access the SmartBay Ireland national test and demonstration infrastructure. Proposals to access the infrastructure were brief and required information on the researcher(s), a description of the proposed research and its potential impact to the research team arising from the access to SmartBay Ireland. Nature provides all the goods, conditions and services for the maintenance of life, societies and human wellbeing. Most of the approaches (e.g. United Nations Millennium Ecosystem Assessment) advertise these benefits as ecosystem services, mostly associated to the renewable resources on a biological basis. More recently, non-renewable and renewable geodiversity services are being framed into the MA ecosystem services categories: regulating, supporting, provisioning, and cultural services (Gray et al., 2013). In order to promote the geodiversity values, the Terras de Cavaleiros UNESCO Global Geopark (TCUGG) is now introducing the geodiversity services concept in the educational and touristic programmes. All geosites can be presented within the scope of the geodiversity cultural services taking into account that they provide data to develop our scientific knowledge. In the most important TCUGG geosites, the educational approach stress the contribution of these sites to the knowledge of the Earth history. Geodiversity cultural services also include aspects like recreation or spiritual experiences, with numerous examples in TCUGG, as well as in all other geoparks. The TCUGG promotes the understating of the sustainable use of geodiversity provisioning services and offers teachers training and educational programmes focused on geological resources. These programmes include the visit to active quarries exploiting construction materials, and mines exploiting industrial minerals like talc (active) and tungsten (inactive). Other provisioning services like freshwater and mineral water are mentioned in the geosites related with thermal springs in the geopark. This topic is also addressed in the geopark interpretative centre dedicated to the characteristics, origins and uses of ore minerals. The geodiversity supporting services refers to the geology as an essential foundation for biodiversity (services to the ecosystems) and human activities (direct supporting services). Locally, the Earth dynamics is expressed by a diversified landscape with mountains, plateaus and valleys sculpted on a variety of rocks, which results on a remarkable biodiversity. One of the TCUGG educational programmes is focused on the relief as the structuring element of the landscape and on the relationship between geodiversity and biodiversity. Soil processes, especially weathering and soil profile development, are well observed in many outcrops and geosites. The understanding of the slow soil formation, on the scale of the geological time, raises awareness for the importance of its conservation. The habitat provision is also clearly comprehensive in the Morais massif, the core of the geopark, were the endemic vegetation is clearly related to the occurrence of exotic ultramafic rocks. Direct geodiversity supporting services to human well-being are represented by the hydroelectric dam in Tuela river gorge and by the wind power on the top of Bornes Mountain. Finally, examples of geodiversity regulation services are scattered throughout the TCUGG. These services can be illustrated with the importance of rocks as essential natural filters for water quality regulation in the context of the hydrological cycle, and the importance of the rock cycle as a nature regulation service, attending to its importance for carbon sequestration, storage and climate regulation. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

The best scenario for creating more sustainable living spaces is to direct people's behavior towards a more environmentally friendly system. For this purpose, the "sustainable green campus" model has been considered at Kirklareli University. Kirklareli University, which was established in 2010 in Kirklareli city. The Green Campus Model covers the renovation of the indoor and outdoor areas of Kirklareli University, Kayali Campus, and its human-oriented, ecological, and environmentally friendly development. The sustainable green campus model includes the evaluation of the spatial and social living areas of Kirklareli University within the framework of sustainability. With the green campus approach, it aims to be a sustainable, environmentally oriented campus where renewable energy sources are used, naturally energy consumption can be controlled, and recycling and treatment systems are used effectively. © Peter Lang AG 2020.

The United Nations has named 2005-2014 as the decade of education for sustainable development, thereby highlighting that 'education is critical for promoting sustainable development and improving the capacity of the people to address environment and development issues‘ (Agenda 21, UN, 1992, p. 363). In light of the above, this paper provides insights into two sustainability courses taught at an Australian university in 2009. The paper differs from prior studies in sustainability accounting education which focus on business programs (see for example, Nowak et al., 2008) or on the incorporation of sustainability into accounting degrees (see for example, Haigh and Hazelton, forthcoming). A personal account of my experiences in lecturing an undergraduate and graduate course provides insights into the design of sustainability accounting courses. The paper also highlights the critical need for accounting students to be aware of one of the most difficult challenges that needs to be addressed by governments, the business community and other institutions, and individuals; sustainable development. If accountants are to play a role in addressing sustainability, it is essential that the educational process provides the necessary skills to students which would equip them to handle an area that goes beyond the basic fundamentals of mainstream accounting. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında kütüphanelerin yürütmüş olduğu hizmetleri mobil sistemlere uyumlu hale getirmeleri önerilmektedir. This study aims to emphasize the importance of mobile technologies in terms of library services, and to examine the perceptions of university students regarding their access to library and information services via mobile phones, taking into account the use of mobile phones. In the study, data were obtained through a questionnaire using the descriptive method. The data were collected from university students using the library of Balıkesir University. A sample of 410 students was selected within the scope of the study. The results demonstrated that the participants' views on accessing library services using mobile technology were mostly positive and they were particularly willing in terms of accessing remote services, electronic resources, and audio-visual materials via mobile technologies. According to the findings, it is recommended that libraries make their services compatible with mobile systems.

BADEA;The paper presents the actual situation and the problems the Romanian research in the energy field is confronted with in a period when budget financing has been drastically reduced as to the commitments and the forecasts and the great companies in the energy field have to face major economic difficulties. The paper analyzes the main components of the research-development system of national interest: the national research and development institutes, the higher education institutions, the traditional companies that have RDI activities, the recently established companies with activities in the RDI field. The paper presents some of the results of the Romanian organizations participating in the research programmes financed from national and European funds. The higher education institutions are in the most favorable situation relating to the development of the equipment and apparatus as a result of their participation in the research projects. The dependence of the national institutes on the Nucleus Programmes has increased lately. Many traditional companies that have RDI activities are in a dramatic situation.

In this paper, we give an overview of an e-learning platform 'An Innovative Interactive and Online English Platform for Upper Primary Students' is an interactive web-based application which will serve as an aid to the primary school students in Mauritius. The objectives of this platform are to offer quality learning resources for the English subject at our primary level of education, encourage self-learning and hence promote e-learning. The platform developed consists of several interesting features, for example, the English Verb Conjugation tool, Negative Form tool, Interrogative Form tool and Close Test Generator. Thus, this learning platform will be useful at a time where our country is looking for an alternative to private tuition and also, looking forward to increase the pass rate.

The objectives of this platform are to offer quality learning resources for the English subject at our primary level of education, encourage self-learning and hence promote e-learning. The platform developed consists of several interesting features, for example, the English Verb Conjugation tool, Negative Form tool, Interrogative Form tool and Close Test Generator. Thus, this learning platform will be useful at a time where our country is looking for an alternative to private tuition and also, looking forward to increase the pass rate.

The degrading environment preys greatly on the minds of Canadians while our actions may not match our thoughts. How do we educate our students as future leaders about sustainability and help them understand that our individual actions make a difference? The intent of this study was to make a difference in students’ and teachers’ lives. It needed to be determined if teachers felt that there was a gap in the current way that we are teaching about sustainability. The results of a Manitoba teacher survey and a literature review identified several different risk and protective factors: those that either constrain or support the teaching of sustainability in a science classroom. The three risks that were discovered to be the strongest were preparation time, availability of resources and that sustainability issues are often highly complex. These concerns became the foundation for informing the implementation phase of this study. From this information a resource that met all of the specific learning outcomes (SLOs) as mandated by Manitoba Education, Citizenship, and Youth (MECY) for the grade 8 Water Systems cluster was designed and piloted. Bronfenbrenner’s Bioecological theory (1979) and The Natural Step’s Four Systems Conditions were used as a foundation. There was a significant difference between the pilot groups and the control groups in three of the four areas tested. Teachers reported enjoying using the resource, and finding it helpful. They also reported that their students were engaged by the use of the resource. The thesis summation suggests how the resource might be shared and improved upon with and by teachers around the province and beyond, and hope that it provides a framework for future lessons or units related to sustainability.

Nature provides all the goods, conditions and services for the maintenance of life, societies and human wellbeing. Most of the approaches (e.g. United Nations Millennium Ecosystem Assessment) advertise these benefits as ecosystem services, mostly associated to the renewable resources on a biological basis. More recently, non-renewable and renewable geodiversity services are being framed into the MA ecosystem services categories: regulating, supporting, provisioning, and cultural services (Gray et al., 2013). In order to promote the geodiversity values, the Terras de Cavaleiros UNESCO Global Geopark (TCUGG) is now introducing the geodiversity services concept in the educational and touristic programmes. All geosites can be presented within the scope of the geodiversity cultural services taking into account that they provide data to develop our scientific knowledge. In the most important TCUGG geosites, the educational approach stress the contribution of these sites to the knowledge of the Earth history. Geodiversity cultural services also include aspects like recreation or spiritual experiences, with numerous examples in TCUGG, as well as in all other geoparks. The TCUGG promotes the understating of the sustainable use of geodiversity provisioning services and offers teachers training and educational programmes focused on geological resources. These programmes include the visit to active quarries exploiting construction materials, and mines exploiting industrial minerals like talc (active) and tungsten (inactive). Other provisioning services like freshwater and mineral water are mentioned in the geosites related with thermal springs in the geopark. This topic is also addressed in the geopark interpretative centre dedicated to the characteristics, origins and uses of ore minerals. The geodiversity supporting services refers to the geology as an essential foundation for biodiversity (services to the ecosystems) and human activities (direct supporting services). Locally, the Earth dynamics is expressed by a diversified landscape with mountains, plateaus and valleys sculpted on a variety of rocks, which results on a remarkable biodiversity. One of the TCUGG educational programmes is focused on the relief as the structuring element of the landscape and on the relationship between geodiversity and biodiversity. Soil processes, especially weathering and soil profile development, are well observed in many outcrops and geosites. The understanding of the slow soil formation, on the scale of the geological time, raises awareness for the importance of its conservation. The habitat provision is also clearly comprehensive in the Morais massif, the core of the geopark, were the endemic vegetation is clearly related to the occurrence of exotic ultramafic rocks. Direct geodiversity supporting services to human well-being are represented by the hydroelectric dam in Tuela river gorge and by the wind power on the top of Bornes Mountain. Finally, examples of geodiversity regulation services are scattered throughout the TCUGG. These services can be illustrated with the importance of rocks as essential natural filters for water quality regulation in the context of the hydrological cycle, and the importance of the rock cycle as a nature regulation service, attending to its importance for carbon sequestration, storage and climate regulation. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

One of the TCUGG educational programmes is focused on the relief as the structuring element of the landscape and on the relationship between geodiversity and biodiversity. Soil processes, especially weathering and soil profile development, are well observed in many outcrops and geosites. The understanding of the slow soil formation, on the scale of the geological time, raises awareness for the importance of its conservation. The habitat provision is also clearly comprehensive in the Morais massif, the core of the geopark, were the endemic vegetation is clearly related to the occurrence of exotic ultramafic rocks. Direct geodiversity supporting services to human well-being are represented by the hydroelectric dam in Tuela river gorge and by the wind power on the top of Bornes Mountain. Finally, examples of geodiversity regulation services are scattered throughout the TCUGG. These services can be illustrated with the importance of rocks as essential natural filters for water quality regulation in the context of the hydrological cycle, and the importance of the rock cycle as a nature regulation service, attending to its importance for carbon sequestration, storage and climate regulation. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

The United Nations has named 2005-2014 as the decade of education for sustainable development, thereby highlighting that 'education is critical for promoting sustainable development and improving the capacity of the people to address environment and development issues‘ (Agenda 21, UN, 1992, p. 363). In light of the above, this paper provides insights into two sustainability courses taught at an Australian university in 2009. The paper differs from prior studies in sustainability accounting education which focus on business programs (see for example, Nowak et al., 2008) or on the incorporation of sustainability into accounting degrees (see for example, Haigh and Hazelton, forthcoming). A personal account of my experiences in lecturing an undergraduate and graduate course provides insights into the design of sustainability accounting courses. The paper also highlights the critical need for accounting students to be aware of one of the most difficult challenges that needs to be addressed by governments, the business community and other institutions, and individuals; sustainable development. If accountants are to play a role in addressing sustainability, it is essential that the educational process provides the necessary skills to students which would equip them to handle an area that goes beyond the basic fundamentals of mainstream accounting. Araştırma sonucunda; katılımcıların kütüphane hizmetlerine mobil teknoloji kullanarak erişim sağlama konusundaki görüşlerinin olumlu olduğu, özellikle uzaktan erişim, elektronik kaynaklar, görsel işitsel materyallere erişimin mobil olarak yapılabilmesine karşı istekli oldukları belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında kütüphanelerin yürütmüş olduğu hizmetleri mobil sistemlere uyumlu hale getirmeleri önerilmektedir. This study aims to emphasize the importance of mobile technologies in terms of library services, and to examine the perceptions of university students regarding their access to library and information services via mobile phones, taking into account the use of mobile phones. In the study, data were obtained through a questionnaire using the descriptive method. The data were collected from university students using the library of Balıkesir University. A sample of 410 students was selected within the scope of the study. The results demonstrated that the participants' views on accessing library services using mobile technology were mostly positive and they were particularly willing in terms of accessing remote services, electronic resources, and audio-visual materials via mobile technologies. According to the findings, it is recommended that libraries make their services compatible with mobile systems.

BADEA;The paper presents the actual situation and the problems the Romanian research in the energy field is confronted with in a period when budget financing has been drastically reduced as to the commitments and the forecasts and the great companies in the energy field have to face major economic difficulties. The paper analyzes the main components of the research-development system of national interest: the national research and development institutes, the higher education institutions, the traditional companies that have RDI activities, the recently established companies with activities in the RDI field. The paper presents some of the results of the Romanian organizations participating in the research programmes financed from national and European funds. The higher education institutions are in the most favorable situation relating to the development of the equipment and apparatus as a result of their participation in the research projects. The dependence of the national institutes on the Nucleus Programmes has increased lately. Many traditional companies that have RDI activities are in a dramatic situation.

BADEA;The paper presents the actual situation and the problems the Romanian research in the energy field is confronted with in a period when budget financing has been drastically reduced as to the commitments and the forecasts and the great companies in the energy field have to face major economic difficulties. The paper analyzes the main components of the research-development system of national interest: the national research and development institutes, the higher education institutions, the traditional companies that have RDI activities, the recently established companies with activities in the RDI field. The paper presents some of the results of the Romanian organizations participating in the research programmes financed from national and European funds. The higher education institutions are in the most favorable situation relating to the development of the equipment and apparatus as a result of their participation in the research projects. The dependence of the national institutes on the Nucleus Programmes has increased lately. Many traditional companies that have RDI activities are in a dramatic situation.

In this paper, we give an overview of an e-learning platform 'An Innovative Interactive and Online English Platform for Upper Primary Students' is an interactive web-based application which will serve as an aid to the primary school students in Mauritius. The objectives of this platform are to offer quality learning resources for the English subject at our primary level of education, encourage self-learning and hence promote e-learning. The platform developed consists of several interesting features, for example, the English Verb Conjugation tool, Negative Form tool, Interrogative Form tool and Close Test Generator. Thus, this learning platform will be useful at a time where our country is looking for an alternative to private tuition and also, looking forward to increase the pass rate.

The degrading environment preys greatly on the minds of Canadians while our actions may not match our thoughts. How do we educate our students as future leaders about sustainability and help them understand that our individual actions make a difference? The intent of this study was to make a difference in students’ and teachers’ lives. It needed to be determined if teachers felt that there was a gap in the current way that we are teaching about sustainability. The results of a Manitoba teacher survey and a literature review identified several different risk and protective factors: those that either constrain or support the teaching of sustainability in a science classroom. The three risks that were discovered to be the strongest were preparation time, availability of resources and that sustainability issues are often highly complex. These concerns became the foundation for informing the implementation phase of this study. From this information a resource that met all of the specific learning outcomes (SLOs) as mandated by Manitoba Education, Citizenship, and Youth (MECY) for the grade 8 Water Systems cluster was designed and piloted. Bronfenbrenner’s Bioecological theory (1979) and The Natural Step’s Four Systems Conditions were used as a foundation. There was a significant difference between the pilot groups and the control groups in three of the four areas tested. Teachers reported enjoying using the resource, and finding it helpful. They also reported that their students were engaged by the use of the resource. The thesis summation suggests how the resource might be shared and improved upon with and by teachers around the province and beyond, and hope that it provides a framework for future lessons or units related to sustainability.
